Basic movements

The Tekken series uses a similar basis for all installments. Each of the four front buttons of the pad corresponds to a limb –arms and legs- , which makes movements more intuitive and easier to memorize than in other games: there is a connection between the button pressed and the stroke.

ADVERTISING

One of the main differences in this 3D game is its free scrolling . In Tekken 7 you can not only block blows, it is also easy to dodge them when you predict their movement. With the side steps to the back or the front – a short touch up or down – you will be able to surround your enemy. Not only do you evade blows, but you will expose your opponent. Also keep in mind that shooting from the sides and back are more damaging, and that you can also corner the opponent against the wall in scenarios with physical limits.

Characters automatically defend themselves against medium and high blows, although you can also press the direction backwards. For low shots, you must press diagonally down. However, none of this protects you from pitches. To escape from a lock, you need to press the same combination as your opponent – left punch and left kick, or right punch and right kick – just at the precise moment .

Rage system

Rage mode is activated when we are low on health , a red effect will illuminate your character. Tekken 7 does not add much more damage to your attacks – unlike in Tekken 6 and Tag Tournament 2 – but it will allow you to use new techniques.

Rage Arts : it is the equivalent to the Super from Street Fighter. Soon simple to do – usually two buttons and a direction – and they throw a blow. If it hits the opponent, a spectacular animation will damage the victim. The damage is inversely proportional to the health that we have left, with little the damage will be greater. Once executed, the state of anger is lost.

Each character is different, Kazuya for example transforms into Devil, while Paul ends with a launch that can be continued with a combo. Remember: don’t underestimate an opponent in Rage mode.

Rage Drive : they are an alternative to the Rage Arts. Be it a single hit or several, you can use these attacks to extend combos and damage your opponent even more. When a Rage Drive and a Rage Art collide, they are both canceled. After using the Rage Drive, you consume the Rage energy.

Power crushers

In Tekken 7 some movements called Power Crushers appear. These attacks absorb damage received at medium or high altitude – the user who executes the Power Crusher loses health normally – but their animation does not stop , allowing them to hit an opponent with a powerful attack. They are useful, for example, to get out of a trap in front of an enemy that does not leave you even a second of pause.

The weak point is that these Power Crushers are the low shots and throws.

The importance of personalization

Throughout your games, you will earn in-game money and customization items . You can equip these accessories in the corresponding mode.

Most are cosmetic changes, makeup, glasses, hats, clothing and ornaments. Since Tekken 6 some weapons are also introduced that add an attack, for example pistols or bladed weapons. Although the damage caused is almost anecdotal, it does not hurt that you add equipment of this type in case you have the opportunity to use it in your combos . All help is little!

Game modes

Tekken 7 offers a variety of single and multiplayer modes. As you practice, you will level up, earn money and customization items.

Story: “The Mishima Family Saga”

A mode that combines cinematics and combat . Follow the story of Tekken and the conclusion to the confrontation between Heihachi and Kazuya in the main story, where you will handle various characters depending on the situation.

It also has short stories for each character , with a combat, which conclude with some kind of ending –sometimes comic-.

Online

Mode for online games, rankings, with friends and to create tournaments. Show that you are the best not only in your neighborhood, but also in the world.

Without connection

Modes that do not need an internet connection.

Arcade – a series of confrontations against artificial intelligence. In the end you will face a boss. It does not unlock ending for the character.

Treasure match : an infinite series of confrontations. The enemies are personalized and we will get rewards – money, items – of increasing value as we advance in the fight.

Duel : the local versus mode. Take out a second controller and defeat your rival.

Practice : set up an AI and test combos, moves, and strategies. It’s a good idea to see what’s new about the fighters you know or learn what new ones are up to.

Personalize

Customize character : edit the appearance of each fighter and save the design. There are many items to unlock and buy, some of them add attacks to your character.

Customize player : edit the game interface –the life bars- and the decoration of the card that your rivals will see during the loading screen. There are dozens of titles and frames to get.

Jukebox (PS4 exclusive)

Customize the soundtrack of the game with the themes of the saga. You can change the music of the stages for that of any Tekken , from the first to Revolution . There are several predefined lists but you can also choose themes for each game.

Gallery

All the intros and endings of the saga , and a few summaries of the history of each game. Have you missed a Tekken or do you want to relive those CGs from the 90s? You can buy – with game money – each video or all of a Tekken.

It also unlocks the sequences you get in Tekken 7’s story mode.
