Sony PlayStation 5 – five reasons to buy

This is not a full review of the Sony PlayStation 5 , it will take more than a couple of weeks for large-scale material. But in this quick review, we will describe a few first impressions, which may already be enough to make a decision – to buy or not to buy.

So, we used the Sony PlayStation 5 in the regular version ( there was material on HB about how the regular version differs from the Digital Edition ) in conjunction with a Sony Bravia KD55XH9096BR TV with a 55-inch screen.

The TV, by the way, is very interesting. Look forward to his review soon on HB Techno .

Sony also kindly provided the editors with the keys to two new PS5 games – Demon’s Souls (a separate review coming soon) and Sackboy: A Big Adventure ( we have a review already out) .

We also bought several games from the Sony online store and downloaded several versatile free games ( some of them from the old PS4 arsenal, which allowed us to check compatibility with the PS5).

So, is the Sony PlayStation 5 worth the buzz that gamers have made around the new gaming console?

In passing, we note that this material is more likely intended for people who play from time to time and are considering the possibility of switching to a new generation console. Not hardcore gamers who have learned the PS5 specs by heart even before the official announcement 🙂

Sony PlayStation 5 – five reasons to buy

oneDesign

It seems to be not the most important parameter for a gadget, from which performance and functionality are expected first of all.

But in reality, gamers are very sensitive to the design of gaming devices.

Hence – the endless race for the brutal appearance of modern gaming laptops. Hence the increased attention to the design of even utilitarian devices such as gaming routers ( remember, for example, ASUS Rog Rapture ).

As for the game console, then everything seems to be simple too. I put it somewhere near the TV, and what difference does it make how it looks. But no, gamers want the device to be futuristic. And Sony went to meet them.

At first glance, the PlayStation 5 is too bulky. But graceful ” nudges” in design and moderate, not too bright backlighting make the large console quite graceful.

There is plenty of gloss here, so neat people need to be prepared to regularly wipe the console from dust and fingerprints.

If you choose to hold the console in an upright position, at first you will feel like it is about to fall. Painfully, the PlayStation 5 looks like an alien ship that has just landed.

But the manufacturer has provided for the horizontal installation of the console. So somehow you worry less about her.

2DualSense gamepad

As strange as it may seem, right after the design of the console itself, I want to talk about the gamepad.

It is he who you will hold in your hands constantly, so he will personify for you the PlayStation 5 itself.

Well and besides, I want to talk about it early, because it contains a lot of innovation, and is perhaps the key ” chip” of the fifth generation of the Japanese game console.

So, DualSense is not just a gamepad for controlling your character’s actions in games. It is a real guide that connects you to the world of the game you are in.

The total number of control elements here is about a dozen, including a touch panel and a microphone ( into which you can blow if necessary!).

DualSense has built-in speakers that reproduce part of the game sounds, as if bringing the audio part of the game world closer to the player.

But most impressive is the performance of the vibration motors built into the gamepad. They have a huge range of power and intensity. In different games, they convey different tactile effects in strikingly different ways and in great detail.

Not only the blows of opponents and the resistance of objects that your game character collides with are in your hands. You can also feel the small vibrations of the grass you have to wade through and the water that drips onto your character!

In racing games, the gamepad literally hums to the beat of the engine, and also conveys the effect of riding on certain surfaces – it rattles finely when you drive on gravel, simulates jolts when you run over large stones , etc.

Of course, only a few games released for PS5, such as the free Astro’s Playroom or Demon’s Souls, can yet fully experience the richness of this tactile feedback.

But this is just the beginning. Over time, there will be tons of games, the developers of which will use the power of the gamepad with might and main in order to make your gaming experience richer.

In passing, we note that in the first two weeks that the PS5 stayed with us, at least five updates flew to the gamepad. E. In Sony continues to ” dopilivat” system to perfection.

3Speed

The responsiveness of the PS5 interface is great. The console seemed to have flown from the future. The system does not slow down, moving through the menu items is instant.

The graphics in the menu are full of animations and accompanied by appropriate visual and audio effects. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that you are clicking the menu of a game console at home, and did not get into some futuristic film about the future.

Games start very quickly. Even when it comes to heavy projects like Demon’s Souls. It literally takes 10-15 seconds to be in the game world. Sometimes you just don’t have time to really sit down comfortably in the real world, as the time comes to actively move in the game.

4Quiet and cold

At this point, in a nutshell, the PlayStation 5 barely perceptibly heats up in most games.

Especially old PS4 games don’t really warm it up at all.

Resource- Demon’s Souls PlayStation 5 made tangible ” warmer” only in the lower housing portion ( console at this point was installed vertically).

It was also only in this game that the PlayStation 5 was “ heated up” to such a state that at a distance of several steps from the console one could hear its fans working.

In every other game we’ve tried, the PlayStation 5 is generally silent.

Sony PlayStation 5 – One Reason Not To Buy

oneIf you’re an Xbox fan …

The PlayStation 5 appears to be a very successful update to the gaming console. I’ve heard some hardcore gamers grumble about Sony choosing some rather strange exclusives to launch the PS5. As if she is so confident in the success of the new console that she does not even try to attract gamers with loud titles.

Let’s leave these conversations for narrowly specialized forums.

As such, there are no complaints about the PlayStation 5.

This is a pretty big step forward compared to the previous generation, and the gamepad is generally a quantum leap forward.

There is no reason not to buy a PlayStation 5 if you are seriously considering buying a game console. None, except one. There is Microsoft Xbox in the world. And by choosing a console, you are essentially contributing to the age-old philosophical battle between PlayStation and Xbox, which HB has already written about in detail.

According to the author of these lines, the PlayStation 5 wins this battle, but if you still see some trump cards in the Xbox ( and they certainly are), then this may be the very only reason not to buy a Sony PlayStation 5.
