SnowRunner is a sequel to the famous off-road driving simulator Spintires from Saber Interactive. In the new game, you can open about 40 types of cars, divided into several categories. In this guide, we’ll cover the main things you need to know about them, as well as reveal the location of all rare cars.
Vehicle classification
When choosing the best vehicle, you will have to focus on several factors at once. We are talking about the type of machine, the goals you pursue, the number and quality of improvements, maximum load, load location, the presence or absence of a differential, and so on. Fortunately, you can visit the store at any time and explore all possible (and even not yet available) improvements related to a particular mode of transport. And sometimes the textual descriptions that you see when studying the car can also come in handy.
Let’s start by looking at the 5 main vehicle categories in SnowRunner :
- Scout– vehicles that are more focused on exploration and exploration. These are usually small but faster cars. However, you can also find heavy scouts that consume significantly more fuel in exchange for power. They are useful for easy support of other vehicles: refueling, repairs. May be useful for towing small trailers. In general, these are the cars that you need to choose in those cases when you do not know what lies ahead!
- Freightis a versatile truck, a kind of workhorse. It can be used to transport medium loads, but if you can properly equip and configure it, you will adapt it literally for any purpose. In general, that’s all.
- An SUVis the best option for traversing rough terrain. Usually very powerful machines. Not suitable for driving on roads, at high speed, as it consumes a lot of fuel. In general, fuel is the price you have to pay to get around literally any rough terrain.
- Heavy– large, slow tractors. Some, due to their size, are not even suitable for towing conventional semi-trailers. However, they are really strong, so they can withstand maximum loads. Not very practical for most contracts and tasks, due to their impressive size. But in some cases, they are your only option for transporting cargo that other vehicles cannot handle.
- Theroad car is currently the rarest type of vehicle in the Snowrunner. As the name suggests, these machines are primarily designed for roads and hard surfaces such as dirt or ice. They can be adapted to improve their performance when traveling on soil or ice, but mud and water should be avoided at all costs. Powerful, fast trucks, limited by their passability.
How to sell trucks
Selling cars at Snowrunner is a fairly simple and intuitive process. This is one of the best ways to get money to invest in a more expensive and better truck. You can sell cars in your garage. Select any of the available transports and in the lower right corner you will find several buttons, including “Sell”. Press the indicated key (button) to get rid of the car. It is noteworthy that the costs of buying and selling trucks are identical. That is, the game does not take away any interest from you.
How to get the best truck at the beginning of the game
During the SnowRunner tutorial missions, you will receive a pickup truck and a truck. While both vehicles are great for learning missions, they are actually useless. So much so that you will probably no longer want to use them as soon as you get hold of another vehicle. The truck is designed to travel on hard surfaces, so it will be very difficult for you to use it in mud and water.
But in reality, these two cars can do much more for you. Any truck you find in the game (right on the maps of the three regions) can be sold through the garage. Moreover, cars are sold at full price (including those that you yourself bought). A highway truck can be sold for $ 30,000, and a pickup truck can be sold for just over $ 10,000. So you get $ 40,000.
And then you will find the third truck, which is parked in the first garage discovered during the story mission in Michigan. You can get about $ 30,000 more for it. This means that practically from scratch in Snowrunner you can get $ 70,000. There are a couple of other cars on the starting map that, if sold, will reward you with another $ 40,000.
If you choose between the cars available from the very beginning, then you should abandon the pickup. It’s not as good for getting around tight spots on the map as the third car you’ll find outside the garage. You need to either use this third truck to find two other cars on the Michigan map, or complete several contracts. Your goal is to earn another $ 18,000. The truck located in the northern part of the map will bring this money without contracts.
Now that you have sold everything that you find (and you can even sell improvements!), Then you should have about $ 88,000. Go to the garage. Open a store and search for International Paystar 5070 in the SUV category . This is a well-balanced vehicle that will help you to go through literally any rough terrain, overcome every obstacle. And there will be fewer problems with him than with everyone else. As you guessed, it costs that same $ 88,000. You will need another $ 5,000 to buy the upgrade for loading. If you want to improve this truck, then take a look at the truck tires. Some of them will significantly improve your ability to drive in mud. With this machine you will really save your nerves.
Where to find all cars
There are two ways to get new cars. The first is to buy them in a garage store, while some of the cars are available only in the USA (from garages in Michigan and Alaska), and the other in Russia (from Taimyr garages). The second way is to find these cars on the game maps. When you activate the observation towers, the nearest markers appear on the map, and there may be new cars among them. Drive to the indicated location and drive the car to use it.
It is also currently available through the KHAN 39 Marshall scout DLC, and the game developers gave out a heavy Navistar 5000-MV truck for pre-order.
Below is the location of all the cars that can be found on the maps of Michigan, Alaska and Taimyr :
Truck Royal BM 17
Can be found on the North Port map in Alaska. When you move southwest from the local garage, you will find a small pond. Your car will stand between the trees at the edge of the pond.
Hummer h2
Can be found in the same “North Port” of Alaska. On small islands near the drilling site, along the edge of the lake, look out for a drowned vehicle. You will have to pull it out yourself!
International Scout 800
Can be found on the Black River map in Michigan. From the garage, head north along the winding road that runs along the slope. The Scout-class vehicle will be parked directly above.
TUZ 420 Tatarin
Possibly one of the coolest vehicles in the game. Russian TUZ 420 Tatarin can be found in the northeastern corner of Zimnegorsk, one of the locations in the Taimyr region. He will be standing in the forest at the top of the hill.
DAN 96320
A heavy and powerful truck that requires the use of one of the other powerful vehicles with a seismic vibration module. These include Azov 64131… The player will need to visit the Taimyr region, location “Swamps”, and get to the quarry in the upper left corner of the map. To get to the right place, you will have to fulfill the contract “Geological exploration. First point “. Drive to the right place, stand with your back to a huge stone and activate the seismic activity module. So you will complete the current contract, after which you can choose the next one – “Lost in the Woods”. The marker for this contract will point to the location of the DAN 96320 truck. Install a huge fuel tank instead of the seismic activity module. You will need a gas tank to refuel the DAN tractor. As soon as you do this, the contract will be completed, and you will receive a new car at your disposal.
Step 310E
To get Step 310E , you need to go to the Zimnegorsk map on Taimyr. In the middle of it, just above the center, there is a place to complete the Truck Recovery contract. You can just wait for the moment when this quest will be available in the list of contracts. First, you have to pull the truck out of the water using a winch and a powerful tractor. The tractor itself must be equipped with a repair module. Once you repair the truck, you will need to refuel it. And that is why it is advisable to attach a trailer with a fuel tank to your tractor. Repair and refuel Step 310E and you will have this vehicle at your disposal.
Tayga 6436
To get the Tayga 6436 , you need to study the Swamp map, Taimyr. There is a garage at the bottom. Move from the territory with the garage on the asphalt slightly higher (past the place with the sunken cistern) and to the left along the ground. At the fork, follow the path to the right along the forest along a winding path. A little further, to the right of the trail, you will find large bodies of water arranged in one line. There is a truck at the end of them. You will need to repair and refuel it.
TUZ 166
To receive the TUZ 166 scout, you will need to accept the Lost in the Mountains contract on Taimyr in the Swamps location. Not far from the starting point, a car is hidden among small rocks. Pull it out with a winch and then tow it to a workshop to have it repaired.
ANK MK38
Another abandoned car that can be found in the game. Look for it in the northwest corner of the Pedro Bay map in Alaska. Once you get there, it remains to follow straight down until you reach the point where the road will round off. Then turn north and look for a car at the northern end of the road above a small lake. When you find a truck, then all that remains to be done is just transfer to it.
Caterpillar 745C
To get the Caterpillar 745C , you need to move to the Mountain River location in Alaska. Then drive up from the tunnel to the White Valley. Then you will need to repair the vehicle. This machine has a Working Stuff contract.
Derry Longhorn 3194
To obtain Derry Longhorn 3194, you need to take the Pluck the Stuck Truck contract in White Valley, Alaska. Drive down the road from the tunnel to North Port and look for a car in the river to the right of the road. Get the car out of the river and deliver it to the parking lot.
Pacific P16
To find Pacific P16 , go to the Drummond Island map in southeastern Michigan. Interestingly, unlike Michigan’s two previous regions, the Smithville Dam and Black River, the island has no garages and only one gas station. Therefore, in order to cope with the task, you need to be well prepared, stock up on fuel, because if something happens you will have to start from the garage on the Smithville Dam. When you find yourself in the desired location, move to the southeast corner, where you will find the desired truck in an open space in the forest. It is located just behind the bridge to the right.
White Western Star 4964
Finally, to get White Western Star 4964, you need to take the Fixer Upper contract at the Smithville Dam, Alaska. As soon as you find a truck in the middle of the forest, then hook and tow it to the parking lot.
