Side missions in Ghostwire:Tokyo

Shibui is formally divided into several districts, each with its own torii gate. Once cleared, hovering over this gate will give you extremely useful information: the number of spirits saved and remaining (blue bar), found, and the total number of Jizo statues, Kei-Kei notes, and magatama. In addition, there is a reward for every torii gate cleared. Two gates will reward you with new plot weaves (fire and water), and the rest with rosaries.

Magatama is an item needed to unlock some branches in the skill tree. When studying the tree, pay attention to the small circles. These are the “locks” blocking them. Hover over them and find out how many magatama it takes to unlock.

KK Reports are another extremely useful resource that can help you earn extra skill points. You will earn 20 skill points for each KK report you find. In the future, it will be possible to find a rosary that will highlight reports at a distance of 100 meters or more. They are called “detective’s rosary”.

funeral doll

Reward : 5000 Meik, 750 spirits.

Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something. Talk to the guy standing near the sanctuary. After that, use ghostly vision and follow the trail from the doll. Crouch and climb into the hole in the wall. Repeat with ghost vision as you find more blue orbs. When the doll goes into a narrow alley, run to the left and go around the building. Find the passage to the alley. Use the fence to jump over the narrow opening between the buildings and you will soon find a blue orb. Activate ghostly vision and move on. Eventually, the trail will point up. Look up and lean towards the tengu using RMB and Spacebar. On the roof, move a little higher, kill the enemies and jump on the ledges on the outer wall of the building, to the stairs. After climbing the stairs, jump to the next one. Climb up and use another ladder around the corner. Finally, interact with the cursed doll, fold the sign and pick up the normal doll. Take it to the quest giver to receive your reward. Be sure to absorb the spawned spirits.

tanuki hunting

Reward : 3000 Meik, 150 experience points. A rare case when help is needed not by the spirit, but by another being.

Follow the marker and use ghost vision to read the mind of the badger (or raccoon). He will tell you about the lost tanuki. You need to find all the tanuki that can disguise themselves as anything. There are a total of 24 tanuki hidden in Shibuya. Recognizing them is quite simple: each such object will have a tail. Look to the right, go down a couple of steps and a little further than the bamboo fence you will see a black pot with a tail. Interact with him to find the first missing tanuki and get the Karate 1 emote. When you free the first one, you can complete the task.

However, I decided to look for all the tanuki, as there is a good reward for their search. So let’s continue:

1. Put a marker in the place shown in the screenshot below. It’s south of the current shrine, all in the same region. Go there and see a high-rise with a big red sign. Beneath this sign is a small torii gate with a tail. This is the hiding tanuki. To get there, pay attention to the neighboring building, where there is a tengu. Pull up to him, climb a little higher and pull up to another tengu, next to the red billboard. Free the tanuki. You will receive the “Offering” emote.
2. Move now to the west to a wide road in the same region. In fact, this is a high highway, reminiscent of a bridge. Under the bridge in the place indicated in the screenshot there will be a red vending machine with a tail. Interact with him to find the tanuki and get the Crouching emote.
3. To the right and above is Akitsu Shrine. To the northwest of it, across the road, among the houses there is another tanuki. Look for a small playground with three pandas there. This is Cibuara Park. Note that there will be one elite enemy with scissors here. One of the pandas will have a moving tail. Interact to free the tanuki and get the Hand Fight emote.
4. Look for the next tanuki to the east of Akitsu Shrine, in another region. Look at the screenshot below. You will come to the Gimpei Crossing. From the location on the screenshot, follow the narrow path (visible on the map) to the west. You will see a gray building with steps and a tengu above it. Pull up to the tengu, look up at the red building on the right, and pull up to the other tengu. Climb up the stairs ahead on the roof, kill all the enemies, save the spirits and find a small yellow and black sign with a tail. Interact to spot tanuki and get the Umbrella emote.
5. All in the same alley as the tanuki above, find an open courtyard on the left. In addition to the ether stones, there is a red statue on the left, consisting of a large and a small part. She has a tail. Interact to save the tanuki and get the Sit 2 emote.
6. South of Sakano Shrine, there is another tanuki between the buildings. Look at the screenshot below. Examine the cemetery. One of the tombstones will have a tail. Interact with him to spot the tanuki and get the Water Kunai emote.
7. Head to the road south of Yasin Shrine like in the screenshot below. Look for several excavators on the road. Next to one of the blue excavators is a worker dummy with a tail. Interact with him to spot the tanuki and get the Race with the Wind emote.
8. Head to the large crossroads west of Namit Shrine. Take a look at the screenshot below. There will be corrupted trees at this intersection. Clear them out, then look for a green building with a tengu flying over it. Next to the tengu on the roof of the building is some kind of small water tower in the form of a ball on a stand. Pull up to the tengu, jump a little higher and see a statue of a brown animal with a tail. Interact to spot tanuki and get the Landing 3 Emote.
9. Head north of Morite Shrine to the crossroad shown in the screenshot below. A tengu flies over the roof of a burgundy building. Pull towards it, go along the edge of the roof counterclockwise and jump onto the roof of the neighboring building, over which the enemies are flying. Climb up to the annex with the satellite dish, take a running jump across the road and fly to another burgundy building. Climb onto the adjacent building ahead, turn around and jump onto the roof with the same notch in the corner. Climb up the outbuildings and find a traffic cone with a tail. Interact with him to find the tanuki and get the Karate 2 emote.
10. Head west from Akisawa Shrine as shown in the screenshot below. Once you’ve done that, look for the pink SILENT-NYA sign on that street. Go to the alley to the right of the sign and look for a tanuki in disguise. There will be a small torii gate with a tail. Free the tanuki to get the Pet the Cat emote.
11. Look at the screenshot below and head east from Morite Shrine to a huge crossroads. Akito and Kei-Kei met at this intersection at the beginning of the game. Look for signs on the side and a small truck. From the truck, jump onto the banner building and interact with the satellite dish. These are tanuki. For freeing him, you will receive the “Cute” emote.
12. Look at the screenshot and go west from the Mikubo Shrine. Then move to the roof of the nearest building by pulling with the tengu. Once you’ve done that, climb up to the nearest outbuilding with the antenna, even higher, and fly up the building with the stairs outside leading to the roof. From this building, gravitate towards another tengu. This will bring you south of the Mikubo Shrine. Look at the next building and you will see a familiar brown creature with a tail. Interact with him to spot the tanuki and get the Sit on the Ground emote.
13. The screenshot above shows a location north of Onten Shrine. Head there to find yourself in an alley between houses. Look for a phone booth there. To her left, on a bench, is a cardboard box. Interact with her to spot the tanuki and get the Cuteness Overdose emote.
14. Go to the location located to the west of Tatsuya’s torii gate. You will find a bridge. Under the bridge, at the side of the concrete fence, there is a red double statue. You have already found this one if you followed our guide. Interact to free the tanuki and get the Sit 1 emote.
15. The next location is south of Yamaki Shrine. Go down under the canal bridge and look for a miniature door in the wall. Interact with her to find the tanuki. You will get the “Peace and Love” emote.
16. Go northeast from the torii gate in the Utagawa shopping area, to the location indicated in the screenshot below. Look for a side passage between the concrete fence. From the tall pillar of the low concrete fence, jump onto the landing outside the building. Climb up the stairs and jump to the roof of the next building to find a billboard with a tail. Interact with him to free the tanuki and get the Smooth Landing emote.
17. Go south from the torii gate in the Utagawa shopping district. The desired location is indicated in the screenshot below. Once there, move along narrow lanes with vending machines. One of the red and white automata has a tail. Interact with him to find the tanuki and get the Pray emote. It’s hard to get to this place. Look for a passage with steps. Climb up and jump down into the alley. Go down even lower.
18. Now move to the torii gate on the roof of the Saiham building. Jump down and go to the nearest green grass alley to the north to find a hedgehog figurine. Interact with her. This is a tanuki, and as a reward you will receive the “Sit on the ground 2” emote.
19. Head south from the Khitani Shrine as shown in the screenshot below. Look for a blue road sign in this alley, round in shape, with a white arrow. Turn left from the sign, jump a little lower and look for a colored bucket with a tail. You will find tanuki and get the Karate Techniques emote.
20. Go south, and slightly to the right of the Toei Shrine. The desired location is shown on the map. You must be on top. Go between the mesh fence and look for the red statue on the transformer boxes. Interact with her to find another tanuki. For this, you will receive the “Sit 3” emote.
21. Head west from Toei Shrine as shown in the screenshot. You are interested in an alley with a blue rectangle (a car?) on the map. To the side of the police car there is a small platform with red and white machine guns. One of them has a tail. Interact to spot tanuki and get the Pet the Dog emote.
22. Move to the road northeast of Namihara Shrine. The location is shown in the screenshot below. Jump to the roof of the sanctuary, and from it climb the building on the left. On the extension of this building there is a yellow and black sign with a tail. These are tanuki. For freeing, you will receive the “Shy” emote.
23. Go to the Hatsuike Shrine, which is located in the very north of Shibuya. Drop down behind the sanctuary, into the park area. Near the steps there is a red armchair with a tail. These are tanuki. You will receive the “Sumo Stance” emote.
24. Head to the park north of Chisima Shrine, in the very north of the map. In the upper right corner of this park, as shown in the screenshot below, look for a phone booth. You will get the “Lean Against the Wall” emote. This is the last tanuki.

After that, open the map, and you will see a marker for a new side quest.

tanuki leader

Reward : tanuki (clothes).

The quest will appear only after you find all 25 tanukis. This is not easy to do, but we have explained in detail in the chapter above, dedicated to the task “Hunting the Tanuki”. After collecting them, go to the Shrine of Kirigoak. Read the thoughts of the tanuki chief standing near the front door. The task will be completed. You will also receive an achievement.

House of the hoarder

Reward : 7500 Meik, 1000 spirits. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

You will learn about the hole that sucks everything in. Go to the alley behind the spirit, where you can see many other spirits. Destroy all the Strangers with umbrellas and go inside the house. Open the door ahead and inspect the dishes on the table. Fold the sign to exorcise the spirit. He hides elsewhere. Exit the room and turn into the corridor on the left. Climb up the pile of garbage, find a souvenir in the closet on the left. Go downstairs, lay down the sign by the refrigerator in the same room. Return to the corridor and open the toilet to the left of the entrance. Add up the third sign. Now just run upstairs and lay down the sign at the door on the right. Open the next door and talk to the ghost in the chair. Destroy all opponents until the ghost goes down. Run up and interact with him. Draw the last sign. Leave the house and absorb all the spirits outside. The task will be completed.

Until the last customer

Reward : 3000 Meika, 500 perfume, casual jacket (clothing), tight pants (clothing), leather shoes (pointed nose, clothes). Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

Go a little further down the road after communicating with the spirit, activate ghostly vision and destroy the corrupted tree. So you can get inside the office building. Enter the building on the left and destroy the filth. Kill the enemies and pick up the page with complaints about recycling from the floor. Also in the room on the left you can find a doll. Return to the main corridor, go further and go upstairs. There is nothing in the rooms to the right and left. Turn into the second door on the right, kill all the enemies and clear the filth. On the table in front is a sheet of complaints about untimely promotion. Return to the stairs and enter the toilet stalls on the left. You need to destroy two filth. There is a complaint about the open floor plan on the floor between the cubicles. Climb down and exit the house. Chat with the boss and absorb the spirits. Quest completed.

Karakasa-kozo

Reward : 1000 Meika, 1 Magatama. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

Talk to the indicated spirit, after which you will need to catch the karakas-kozo. Go into the territory, a little forward, until a karakasa-kozo appears. Crouch down and carefully follow him. Stay close until KK gives the command. Then sneak up from behind and interact with him. So you get 1 magatama, and you can also pick up an umbrella and give it to the girl.

Zashiki Warashi

Reward : 3000 Meika, 1 Magatama, 500 Spirits. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

Get to the marker and talk to the spirit. You will receive salted crackers. Now enter the house behind the spirit, open the room on the left and see a black wall. Get closer, apply ghostly vision and find a hidden cabinet. Take the key to the safe. Exit to the corridor and open the room on the left to find a note inside the pantry. Go inside the large living room with TV, open the cabinet door to the left of the TV and unlock the safe with the key. Inside it, you will find a floor plan of a house with a room crossed out. Go to the right side of the house. There is a note at the end of the corridor. Enter the room behind the large door. There is a souvenir in the closet on the left. The wall on the right hides a secret passage. Get closer and activate Ghost Vision. Move the doors and enter the room. You will move to the battle arena. Lay down the sign to exorcise the evil and greedy spirit. Place saltine crackers on a plate and chat with the zashiki warashi. Go outside and talk to the old woman (spirit). The Zashiki Warashi will give you 1 Magatama. The quest will be completed.

spring-cleaning

Reward : 7500 Meik, 1000 spirits. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

Go inside the marked building, in the office on the left on the table, look for a yellow supercar model (souvenir). Climb to the second floor and enter the room on the right. Chat with the marked spirit. Go outside and go to the marked area. There is filth in the alley. Destroy it and go inside another building. This is a bath. Go through the bathhouse and open the far door. In the technical corridor, destroy the filth and turn into the door on the left. Interact with the other door. Destroy all enemies, after which you will return back. Go back, the filth will disappear from the passage ahead. Collect all spirits. Mission completed.

On the other side

Reward : 10,000 Meika, 1 Magatama, 1500 Spirits. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

Communicate with the spirit in the indicated place and move to the corner building. Open the door to the right of the phone booth. As soon as you enter inside, look at the wall on the left. There will be an exit sign, but where is the stairs? Use Ghost Vision to see Yokai. Consume it and get 1 Magatama. Interact with the door to get inside. go downstairs and talk to the spirit. Chat with another spirit. Go to the right side and look for new spirits. Enter the store and interact with the slot machine. Defeat the crimson kuchisake that appears in the previous corridors. She is more aggressive than usual. The task will end. Don’t forget to collect spirits.

crimson moon

Reward : 5000 Maika, super device (clothing), Fallout 4 jumpsuit (clothing), 750 spirits. Someone wants to contact KK.

Go to the indicated location and answer the phone call at the indicated booth. You will hear Ed. He asks to collect some data. Now open the storage room located nearby. You will find a data collection device. Go to the construction site opposite the building with lockers. If desired, clear it of enemies and filth to collect a lot of spirits. Jump over the fence with the excavator and climb up the stairs. Ride higher on the lift. Use a couple more lifts and clear the roof of the filth and flying enemies. Stand in the indicated place and click on the RMB to get the device. Point it at the moon and wait a bit until the scale is 100% full.

Now there are two more places to visit. Go to the nearest one in the northwest. North of Yasin Shrine. Take the elevator up from the shrine. Run up the crane boom to collect spirits. Then pull up to the tengu above the building on the right. A kite stuck in the railing (souvenir). From here, you will also see a multi-storey red building. You have to climb up to it. To the north of this tall building, there is a scaffolding with a tengu. Reach out to him and climb up. Fly to the building and move up the escalators. Look up when the escalators are over and lean towards the tengu. Climb up the stairs and ride higher on the lifts. Kill all the ghosts and go up the stairs at the end of the roof to find another vantage point.

Go to the third location on the map. Climbing this building is much easier. There is a landing in the middle of the street in the building. Rise higher and higher. There will also be a spirit with a side quest near the stairs. Once you get upstairs, take the elevator up. Climb another ladder and analyze the Moon a third time. Climb down and go to the same phone booth (it’s marked with a green check mark). Just don’t leave the booth or the quest will get bugged.

Ittan-momen

Reward : 1000 Meika, 1 Magatama. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

Climb up to the Kuo Shrine on the roof of the tall building and look for the spirit marked with a green marker. After talking with him, you will have to catch the ittan-momen. Follow the marker, but don’t go down. You need to jump onto the big green canopy above the escalator. Having done this, move closer to the flying yokai. Wait. When he starts to fly away, chase him (not necessarily through the air). Eventually, it will stop at the corner of another roof and you can absorb it.

Kappa

Reward : 1000 Meika, 1 Magatama, Movie 1 (camera filter). Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

Chat with the spirit above the water at the mall. The easiest way to get down to it is from Kuo Shrine. Put the cucumber on the stand and hide behind the nearest statue. Hide behind the statue and use ghost vision to see where the kappa is swimming. It will swim around the statue, so you have to go around it. After doing this, wait for the kappa to start eating the cucumber. Sneak up from behind and consume it to get a magatama. Chat with the spirit to complete the quest.

Full house

Communicate with the spirit in the indicated place. Go to the marked building, go up to the second floor and go into the apartment. Place the sign on the scarecrow on the bed. Then look in the closet to the right of the bed. Listen to the evil spirit. Stack another sign to banish him. Go back and look into the bathroom on the left. Stand by the bathroom and wait. An eye will appear in the window. Drive out the evil spirit by placing a sign on it. Stand at the curtained balcony window, next to the laptop on the coffee table, and activate Ghost Vision. Another eye will appear. Put a sign on it. Leave this place and return to the vlogger to complete the quest. And don’t forget to collect the spirits.

Blood Flowers – Gimpei

Reward : 10,000 Meik, 1500 spirits. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

The task can be accepted after you complete the missions “Blood Flowers” and “Full House” (we talked about this above). Go to the indicated place and inspect the tree. Kill all enemies, and then place a sign on the tree to cleanse the sakura from filth. Mission completed. This will be the most difficult fight of this quest chain.

Lost dog

Reward : 3000 Meik, 500 spirits. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

Communicate with the spirit next to the specified sanctuary. He asks to find his dog. Follow the marker and enter under the bridge. Chat with the spirit. He will say that his brother considers him a dog and keeps him on a leash. Destroy four of the most dangerous enemies, using all your strength. After that, lay down the sign to drive away the distraught brother. The task will end.

Voice in the wall

Reward : 1000 Meika, 1 Magatama. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

Chat with the spirit behind the house, in the alley. Then enter the hotel. You need to get to the fourth floor. Crouching down, destroy the enemy in front. Call the elevator and go to the fourth floor. Go to the end of the corridor and use ghost vision to see a nurikabe instead of a wall on the left. Consume it and get 1 Magatama. Read the note from the man lying on the nightstand on the right. Take down a painting by Utamaro (souvenir) from the wall. Go down to the first floor and chat with the workers outside, in front of the hotel entrance. Mission completed.

Communicate with the spirit in the indicated place, and then enter the hospital building. Kill the opponents in the hall, go left and find the elevator in the corridor. After calling him, go to the fourth floor. Look around the room ahead. Mary used to be here. Run further along the corridor and open the room on the right, 403, where you will find a girl. To the left of it lies a paper crane. Chat with her on all topics, then run down the corridor to the right and kill the enemies. Go down the stairs to the third floor, go through the dining room and open the nurse’s room. On the cabinet on the left is a souvenir, sis statues. In the far closet, on the open shelf, look for a report on what happened to Kenta Owada. Exit the office and open the door on the left, into which a ghost with an umbrella is breaking. Enter the password highlighted on the first line. Move forward until you get to the far right room, to discover an operating room with a ghost. Step back from the ghost, turn around and kill the kuchisake that appears. This is the monster. Chat with the spirits at the elevator. Mission completed. Pick up the spirits and take the elevator down to the first floor to leave the building.

Lost girl

Reward : 3000 Meika, 500 spirits, policeman (clothes). Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

Chat with the spirit of the lost girl, and then go to the intersection where the marker points. Eliminate the enemies, use ghostly vision and destroy the corruption in the nearest building. Talk to the woman. You have found the girl’s mother, the task is completed.

Stop in the void

Reward : 10,000 Meik, 1500 spirits. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

Talk to the spirit in the subway near the place where the girl’s mother was found on the “Lost Girl” quest. Enter inside the subway, follow the marker down and down until you can call the elevator. Call the elevator, but don’t use it. Instead, wait for enemies to appear. Finish off all opponents, then the nightmare will begin. Get on the train car, which will arrive any minute. Exit through the far car, kill Sorrow and destroy the filth. Communicate with all spirits. Kill a few more enemies, then run to the platform with the train and kill the crimson kuchisake. The task will end. Collect all the spirits and leave the station.

hide and seek

Talk to the spirit in the marked area. Go to the right place. Look for the spirit of the boy on the right behind the tree and chat with him. Say you’re ready to play hide and seek. Go into the building nearby and go up to the top floor where the train is standing. There is a photo booth on the side of the train. Interact with her to find the boy. The task will be completed, and you do not forget to collect the spirits.

Hide and Seek II

Reward : 3000 Meik, 500 spirits. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.

The task will begin after you complete the Hide and Seek quest described above. Go to the marker and talk to the boy’s spirit. Agree to play hide and seek. Go through the nearest alley. After getting outside, move to the left and climb up the stairs. There are several shrines here. In one of them, near a large box of offerings, a boy hid. It’s in the northeastern part of the search area. Examine the sanctuary, but it will be locked. We need to find the key. Now go to the lower left corner of the search area and climb onto the roof of the sanctuary to find the key. Open the sanctuary with the boy, the quest will be completed. Collect the spawned spirits. The task will end.

Hide and Seek III

Reward : 7500 Meik, 1000 spirits. Looks like one of the spirits wants to say something.Talk to the boy in the indicated place. The task will be active only after you complete both previous parts. Move to the search area, and KK will point to the right house. Enter inside it and drive to the eighth floor. Seven-story building. Really weird. Run forward through the forest and talk to Yesuke. Turn left and enter the building through the side door. Chat with Yesuke. Go back a little and look to the right. Yesuke is sitting on the tree platform on the right. Go to the right side and find a place where you can climb onto the platform on the tree. Fly from one platform to another and find Yesuke. Now run across to the other side to find Yesuke sitting behind a tree. And that’s not it. He will hide in the barn again. Go there, but the door will be locked. On the side of the hill, look for platforms in the trees. Climb onto the platforms and fly to the roof of the shed. There will be a hole. Jump inside and chat with Yesuke. Quest chain completed. Don’t forget to collect spirits.

Go to the marked area and talk to the spirit. Go to the specified location. This will be a crossroads. On its outskirts, look for a white dog with a red armband. There may be other dogs, but you are interested in this particular dog. Use ghost vision to read the mind of the dog. You must have dog food. Feed the dog and follow him to the place where he saw them. Kill all enemies after communicating with the dog and reread the mind. They will appear. Interact with him to get his power. In fact, it will be 1 magatama. The task will end.

bloody flowers

Predicament

Chat with the spirit in the marked area. Enter the toilet opposite, through the entrance on the right. Interact with the toilet stall to find out that the spirit needs toilet paper. Take the roll located on the shelf on the right and give it to the spirit. Well, the sounds … Go to the neighboring toilet cubicles. Open them. In the middle one you will find toilet paper. Pass it on to the same spirit. Tell the man that he can go to the toilet.

Rokurokubi

Chat with the ghost and go a little further along the marker. Rokurokubi will hide in the alley. Run after and look to the right to see her. Turn the corner twice more and go up the stairs on the right to climb onto the roof to the rokurokubi. Interact with her to get the magatama and complete the quest.

After the end
