Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the final point to the current trilogy, started by Tomb Raider and continued by Rise of the Tomb Raider . As I am so original I have decided to start the house from the roof and this was the first of the three games I have played. As a summary of everything I am going to tell you is that I am going to play the two previous games without any doubts.
The most famous heroine in video games is back
Without a doubt, Lara Croft is the most famous female protagonist in video games and in Shadow of the Tomb Raider we will have to put ourselves in her shoes to finish a trilogy with an outstanding ending in which she will have to enter Paititi and fight against La Trinidad that he will make things very difficult for us or at least he will try. Our mission will be to stop a Mayan apocalypse that we ourselves provoke in our desire to discover. Every pro adventurer will enjoy helping Lara Croft.
Adventure with capital letters
I have never been a fan of what I thought adventure games like the one at hand were, but possibly it was due to ignorance more than anything else. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a game that mixes several genres in a remarkable way . Adventure predominates, how could it be otherwise but it includes a good part of an action game where you will have to overcome many scenes with many enemies and with its RPG details represented in the experience that Lara gains in her actions and that will allow get new skills for our heroine in addition to allowing the construction of ammunition and costumes and the improvement of weapons. They don’t have great depth but they certainly add variety to the game.
The story will take us through different scenarios and will allow us to travel between them quickly in the different camps that we find. Actually, if we want to complete the different areas 100%, we will have no choice but to do so since there are certain objects and objectives that can only be reached after obtaining weapons or equipment that are only available once the game is advanced.
Save the world from the Mayan apocalypse
The main story generates addition and you can dedicate yourself to it without paying attention to everything that is hidden in each map, be it secondary missions, challenges, treasures, relics, etc. This will make you discover an addictive game at its best. If you take the time to get everything available on each map, the game can lose part of its rhythm and can even make us wonder how they have been able to include such absurd missions (such as getting some bird feathers or raising some flags).
Undoubtedly , the main story will make us aware of what happens to the town of Paititi and how to prevent the Mayan curse that we have unleashed from coming to an end. You will meet secondary and main characters who will tell you the history, the present and the possible future of this ancient hidden civilization. The end will leave us with the satisfaction of having lived a great adventure.
Technical section
The game has a really attractive technical section , mainly when it comes to graphics. We will see a Lara more defined than ever and that will definitely make us forget (at least to me) the original Lara, who was made up of geometric figures. All the scenarios and the rest of the characters accompany perfectly. In this aspect, to say that the camera does have some flaws, some jumps are made complicated by this and picking up some objects can cost a little for this very reason.
The Spanish translation is outstanding , one of the best I’ve seen in a game. It is true that there are not hundreds of characters, but it really shows that the work in this aspect is taken care of to the smallest detail.
Conclusions
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a must-have game for adventure lovers . It is not the longest game to play, it is not the fastest (if you want to finish everything 100%) but it is possibly the most addictive and visually attractive. And all without forgetting that the story will really help us to get into the role of Lara and even discover parts of her past. It doesn’t matter that you haven’t played the previous two games, you can play this one, although I’m going headlong to play the previous ones.
