The main humorist of all Sumeru, he is also a strict general mahamatra and an inveterate gambler. Of course, all this is about Saino. This Electro spearman from Sumeru is notable for his hat in the form of the head of Anubis and terrible jokes that many find funny (but mostly cringe).
We wrote this guide on Saino so that you know how to best build the character and which commands make him as strong as possible. Take a collection of dad’s jokes, all mains of this hero need it.
Genshin Impact Hero Description
The name of General Mahamatra Saino is known to everyone in the Academy. He monitors the observance of the rules, detains violators of discipline and criminals. Many scientists are afraid of him, because due to the general’s fault, dangerous research has been repeatedly disrupted. But Saino is ready to put up with this, if such prohibitions help maintain order.
In fact, Saino is quite good-natured with his friends and often makes silly jokes in the company so that other people won’t be afraid of him. For example, about Paimon eating too much valya and falling to the ground, or about the Mahai-Matra general. In addition, he also likes to play Sacred Summon of the Seven, and after his trip to Mondstadt, he received a special card back with Dwalin from Albedo.
How to get Saino
You can only get Saino to your collection during his banner rerun. The thing is that General Mahamatra is a 5★ event character and does not just appear in prayers. The last time we saw the Electro Lancer was in 4.2, so it may appear again soon. We recommend keeping your Primogems ready.
Strengths and weaknesses
Pros | Cons |
· Quite easy to level up because it increases its own critical damage and plays off elemental mastery.
· Does not depend on signature weapons and can deal good damage even with 4★ rarity spears. · While the ult is active, it enhances its elemental skill and can deal area damage. · Can increase elemental mastery and interrupt resistance. · Plays great with Dendro characters. |
· There are problems with gaining energy due to the expensive ult, so it is desirable to have an Electro hero in the pack or at least a weapon from the Favonius set on someone in the squad.
· The best support for Saino is Nahida, without her the game might not be as enjoyable. · The ult lasts longer than most buffs from other characters. |
Talents and abilities
Basic skills
First of all, Saino needs to pump the ult, because it is from it that your main damage will come. It is also important to pump the E-ka, during the action of the stance it becomes stronger. But the basic attack is pumped last.
Skill name | Purpose | Skill Description |
Summoner’s Spear | Normal attack | Performs a 4-hit combo with a spear. |
Charged attack | Spends a small amount of stamina and lunges towards enemies, attacking them along the way.
Attack in the fall | Spins with the spear and falls to the ground, attacking in an area.
Secret Rite: Soul Ferry | Elemental Skill (E) | Lunges towards the target, dealing Electro damage to mobs in the path.
If Saino is under the effects of his Ultimate while in the Sworn to Lead the Way state, the lunge is replaced with Burial Ritual, which deals Electro damage in an area and extends the duration of the Ultimate. |
Sacred Rite: Agility of the Jackal | Elemental Burst (Ulta) | Activates the power of the ancient gods and enters the Sworn to Lead the Way state. Increases Elemental Mastery and Interrupt Resistance, and is immune to Reaction Damage. Charged.
All damage from normal, charged, and falling attacks is converted to Electro damage. This infusion cannot be cancelled. The E-key is replaced with a special attack, Burial Ritual, which deals more damage if an eye-shaped frame appears on the screen (Witness of Truth). Activating the skill extends the duration of the ult, up to a maximum of 18 seconds. |
Passive Talents
Skill name | Activation | Skill Description |
The gracious gift of silence | Immediately upon receipt | Saino’s Sumeru Expeditions lasting over 20 hours provide 25% more rewards. |
Court of the pen | 2 rise | During the ult, the Witness of Truth state is periodically activated and an eye-shaped frame appears on the screen. If you press E at this time, the character activates the Sentencing effect, increases the attack power by 35% and releases 3 Lightning of Disaster, which inflict Electro damage. |
Lord of the Nine Bows | 4th rise | Normal attack damage while the Ultimate is active is increased by 150% of your Elemental Mastery.
Lightning of Disaster from the passive Judgement of the Feather is increased by 250% of Elemental Mastery. |

What weapon to install
Staff of Scarlet Sands
Signa Saino, known among Genshin players as “the shovel”, is obviously the best weapon for the hero. Here we get a critical chance and several useful bonuses. By the way, if you doubt whether it is worth spinning the spear – it fits well on many characters in the game, including even the free Xiangling, who does terrible things with it.
At level 90, the spear grants 542 attack power and 44.1% critical hit chance. The passive grants an attack bonus equal to 52–104% of Elemental Mastery. Hitting with an E grants the Dream of Scarlet Sands buff for 10 seconds: the spear wielder gains an attack power bonus equal to 28–58% of Elemental Mastery. The buff can stack up to 3 times.
Jade Kite
Another good option. At level 90, the spear gives 674 attack and 22.1% critical hit chance. Both of these items are useful for Saino, so if you caught a kite from the standard – feel free to put it.
Passive grants 3.2-6% attack power for 6 seconds when any attack hits. The buff stacks up to 7 times and appears once every 0.3 seconds. At max level, it additionally increases all character damage by 12-24%.
Khoma’s Staff
The top five-star spears are rounded out by the Staff of Khoma, another fairly versatile event spear for the account. At level 90, it provides 608 attack power and 66.2% critical damage.
The passive increases the wearer’s HP by 20-40%, and gives attack power in the 0.8-1.6% section of the health bar. If the health bar drops below 50%, the attack power bonus will increase by another 1-1.8%.
Ballad of the Fjords
This spear can only be obtained from the paid battle pass, but again, it is quite versatile and will fit many characters. So if you were going to take the pass anyway, take a closer look at this weapon. At level 90, we get 510 strength and 27.6% critical hit chance.
The passive works quite simply: if you have at least 3 different elements in your team, the wearer gains 120-240 Elemental Mastery.
Mortal combat
This spear is also only obtainable through the Battle Pass. It is more focused, but still works great on a variety of damage dealers. At level 90, the weapon provides 454 attack power and 36.8% critical hit chance.
If there are 2 or more enemies nearby, the wearer’s attack power and defense increase by 16-32%. If there is only one enemy, only attack power increases by 24-48%.
White brush
Quite an unexpected option, but don’t rush to ask questions: remember that Saino often uses regular attacks during his ult. And for them, this spear is one of the best. True, it has a rather low base: at level 90, we will see 401 attack power and 23.4% critical hit chance.
The passive is simple: normal attacks deal 24-48% more damage. There are no conditions to activate.
Best Artifact Sets
Gilded Dreams
This is the top 1 and, one might say, signature set for Saino. The whole point is that it gives him useful stats and buffs. For example, 2 parts give 80 units of elemental mastery.
With 4 parts, everything is more fun. After triggering any reaction for 8 seconds, the wearer gains 14% attack power for each character of the same element in the party, and 50 elemental mastery for those whose element is different.
A thunderous roar of rage
A classic for Electro heroes. Plus, this set can be collected in Alchemy, without having to clear the dungeon over and over again.
Two parts provide a 15% bonus to Electro damage, four parts buff the reactions Superconductor, Overload, Charged, and Vegetation by 40%, and Aggravation by 20%. If the wearer activates one of the reactions (or Stimulation), the cooldown of his E-ka is reduced by 1 second.
The End of the Gladiator
Another set from Alchemy. This time universal for damage dealers of any element. However, it does not work on archers and catalysts.
Two pieces of the set provide 18% attack power, and 4 pieces buff normal attacks by 35% when using a one-handed, two-handed or polearm weapon.
2+2 combo
If there are no full options at all, then 2+2 combinations of elemental mastery sets look good on Saino. For example, 2 pieces of Gilded Dreams can be combined with 2 pieces of Flower of Lost Paradise. Or add Wandering Ensemble.
All these sets give 80 Elemental Mastery, so we get a tasty 160 increase for this stat. And for Saino, this is important.
Squad options
Since our general is designed for playing with Dendro, we will show only two pack options. Other options, like Overload, Charged or Mono-Electro will not work as well, or require different constellations.
The first team with Saino works on the Vegetation reaction, for which we definitely need at least one more Dendro and Hydro character. Their reactions will create buds on the field, and the general’s ult will activate them.
This pack includes:
- Saino;
- Nahida;
- Xing Qiu/Ye Lan;
- Bai Zhu/Kokomi/Yao Yao.
In the second case, we focus on Exacerbation. Here, it is best to build a team only on Electro and Dendro characters, so as not to interrupt the reaction with other statuses. Or add an anemo support for additional mastery of the elements, or take Zhongli for protection.
The pack looks like this:
- Saino;
- Nahida/Kollei;
- Fischl;
- Kazuha/Zhong Li/Kuki/Bai Zhu.
Constellation
Constellation level | Name | Description |
1 | Testament: Unceasing Vigilance | After activating the Ultimate, Saino’s normal attacks are increased by 20% for 10 seconds. Activating the Sentence effect resets the duration of this buff. |
2 | Ceremony: Seeing off the souls | If Saino hits an enemy with a normal attack, his Electro damage bonus is increased by 10% for 4 seconds. This buff stacks up to 5 times and occurs once every 0.1 seconds. |
3 | Decree: Execution of punishment | Gives +3 levels to ult. |
4 | Strict Measure: The Guardian of the Ban | If Saino triggers one of the Electro reactions during the stance, all squad members will recover 3 units of energy. This effect can be activated up to 5 times per stance. |
5 | Burial: Fading Starlight | Gives +3 levels to E-class. |
6 | Pen Ceremony: Scales of Justice | Using an elemental skill or activating the Judgement effect grants Saino 4 levels of Jackal’s Sacrifice status. This buff consumes 1 level for each normal attack and activates Lightning of Calamity. The status lasts for 8 seconds and can be stacked up to 8 times, disappearing after the ultimate ends. |
We’ve covered all the main details of Saino’s build. We wish you to get this character in your squad as soon as possible, and remember: even bad jokes always find their audience.
