Studies

He graduated as an architect in 1980 , at the Construction Faculty of the Central University of Las Villas and continued his academic training, receiving several postgraduate courses on the topics of Conservation and Rehabilitation of Heritage, Historic Centers, Management of Historical Architectural Heritage, Tourism. and other related topics, in Cuba and abroad.

Professional development

For 17 years, since its foundation, he was linked to the Office of the Curator of Trinidad and the Valle de los Ingenios , first as a specialist and principal designer and since 1997 as director and principal curator. Among the multiple activities that he developed in this office, we can mention the direction of business management and control of financial management for the conservation of Trinidad, the work carried out as a specialist and main designer of the Master Plan of Management and Management of Trinidad and the Valley de los Ingenios, preparing and coordinating restoration works projects, as well as their technical control.

His training activity should also be mentioned, expressed through the organization of specialized courses and workshops, and as an adjunct professor at the Construction Faculty of the Central University of Las Villas. He was a member of the Cuban Committee of ICOMOS and of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba , as well as Associate Instructor of the TERRA Group of ICCROM-CraTERRE – School of Architecture of Grenoble.

From his beginning as a professional, he was linked to the rescue of heritage values, working as a Designer for the Tourist Company of Topes de Collantes, in Trinidad, acting as an investor and technical investment manager for the remodeling of the Sanatorium in that town.

Death

He died in Havana on June 11, 2003 at the age of 45.

He participated in the realization of numerous master plans, management and heritage management, as well as in restoration projects, among which the following can be mentioned:

He carried out several historical-architectural investigations, based on the knowledge of the heritage values ​​of the area he served and as a basis for the practical activity he developed in the safeguarding of Trinidad and the components of the Valle de los Ingenios, some of which were published or disclosed in scientific events, both in Cuba and in other countries.

Within this category, the coordination and elaboration of the text of the presentation of the Architecture Guide of Trinidad, in collaboration with the Junta de Andalucía ( 2001 – 2002 ) should be mentioned.
