Before we begin, please note that this guide is written for the hard mode of the game, so it contains absolutely everything that Return to Monkey Island has to offer . Also, if you want to get achievements, be sure to explore all the points of interest (highlight them with the TAB key) and exhaust all the dialogue with each character you find on the islands. There are many missable heroes, items, and other objects, so you will have to play through the game at least a couple of times to collect all the achievements. Our guide is dedicated exclusively to the storyline and the main actions required to complete the story part
Prologue
Enter the Scurvy Dog Cafe, take the key and head outside. Open your inventory and select the toilet key and use it to open the… (*drumroll*) toilet.
Examine the piece of metal on the floor, take the token from the floor, return to the cafe with the scurvy dogs and return the key to its place. Give the seller the token you found.
Go to the right side to meet Dee, examine the anchor and challenge Chuckie to a race (win using the keys/buttons indicated).
Examine the basket next to the couple. While the people are distracted, take the piece of bread, stand on the pier and use the bread on the duck.
Take the drop of ketchup to your right, use it on the scurvy dog to add sauce. Climb up and interact with the ship to have a sword fight.
Find the four-leaf clover after interacting with the sign, take the coin on the right side and use it on the well. Make any wish, open the gate and talk to your father. We continue the walkthrough of Return to Monkey Island on the StopGame.Ru website.
Part 1. Friendly place
After the dialogue, go downstairs, enter the “Scamm Bar” and take the quiz book. Answer the questions, and then talk about all topics with the pirates standing on the right side.
Interact with the docks to the left of the bar, examine the job posting, talk to the pirate, and then go right to Lower Street. You’ll meet Elaine here. Then enter the Real Voodoo shop, where you’ll get a hint book and buy a knife and a frog.
Return to Lower Street, enter Wally’s Maps & Stuff, take the monocle and go outside. Go from Lower Street to Upper Street through the arch in the back of the screen. Enter the prison, use the monocle on Otis’s lock and get the serial number.
Enter the locksmith’s workshop on the left side, show her the serial number, and then, with the key, return to the prison. Use the new key on Otis’s cell, go outside and go to the left side. You will come out on the island map.
Select the docks, pick up the sponge (strange mass) at the very end and leave this place. Go to the forest, enter the museum, take the business card and the cracker mix, which are in the pantry.
Go back to the Scamm’s Bar, go to the kitchen and try to take the mop. Go back to the Maps and Stuff shop, take another monocle, combine both monocles and talk to Wally.
Go back to the Scamm bar, talk to the cook and the customer. Go to the museum, use the double monocle on the lock and show the serial number to the locksmith. Get the key.
Read the election poster at the docks, enter the governor’s mansion, use the frog to apologize (choose Carla, book, admiration and promise) and give the frog to Carla. This will apologize to her.
Take the ingredient book, give it to the chef, and then use the knife on the mop. Show the resulting splinter to the owner of the Maps and Stuff shop, go to the forest and go into the depths of the dark forest.
Refer to the map to see which path to take (flower, mushroom, flower, flower, plant, mushroom, plant, plant, flower), use the knife on the mop and combine the sea sponge with the resulting mop handle.
Go back to the locksmith and give her the cracker mix to get stale crackers. Go to the museum, give the crackers to the parrot, use the key on the display case and take the blindfold. This is your disguise.
Head to LeChuck’s ship, put on the blindfold, ask for work. Show the blindfold to Lady Voodoo, go to the dark forest, use the knife on the carnivorous plant and give it to the Voodoo woman.

Part 2. Dangerous Journey
Take the brochure and some chicken feed to the left of the stairs, open the drawer and talk to Murray the Skull. Take the mop, wipe off the grease and apply it to the three different screws that hold the porthole in place.
Return the mop, use the knife on the three screws and apply three coats of grease to the porthole with the mop. Squeeze through the porthole, climb the right ladder and watch the cutscene.
Return to the starting cabin, take Murray’s skull, return to the upper deck and go down the right ladder to the ship. Then use Murray on the washing machine, causing it to break.
Use the screws from the porthole on the washing machine, use Murray again and place his flattened skull in the potion cauldron on the upper deck. Climb into the crow’s nest.
Look through the spyglass to see another ship on the right. Exhaust all dialogue options with Flambé, go downstairs, talk to Iron Rose, and then show her the brochure.
Go up to the crow’s nest, talk to Flambeau, go down to the ship and enter the left galley. Talk to Putra until you get a promotion request and enter LeChuck’s cabin on the right side.
Once in LeChuck’s cabin, show the captain Putra’s promotion request, then use the galley dish report, greasy hold window, spilled potion, and potion stash on the upper deck.
To complete the report, head left, moving around the perimeter of the ship, to find Glotka stuck in the wheel. Then give the completed report to Rose (you need to find five oddities on the ship that need to be fixed).
Combine the promotion request with the reports you received from Rose, and hand it all over to LeChuck for signature. Give the promotion request to Putra, ask her to make Scorched Alaska, collect the dish, and head to the top deck.
Use the knife on the glow stick next to the cannon, combine the resulting “pepper” with the scorched Alaska and give the spicy dish to Flambé in the crow’s nest. Take the joke book and give it to Bob from the upper deck.
Go to the ship, talk to another pirate and return to Glotka at the wheel. Pull the knife out of his back, give it to the last pirate, go up to the upper deck and ring the bell on the right side once.
After a successful vote, ring the bell twice, get into LeChuck’s cabin and replace the mop card with the card from LeChuck’s desk. Place Murray in the cannon on the upper deck and fire it. Continue the walkthrough of Return to Monkey Island on the StopGame.Ru website.
Part 3. Return to Monkey Island
Continue to the right, go to the beach, examine LeChuck’s map in the inventory and take the skull on the left. Go to the jungle and examine the red berry bush.
Go past the monkey hand, wooden chicken, bees and try to pick up the shovel. Accept the offer, go outside and follow the volcanic beach on the left side.
Get another skull, board LeChuck’s ship after getting the third skull underwater (use the anchor chain) and go left to talk to Glotka at the helm.
Help him write poetry by choosing “brains”, “roses” and “snack”, try to climb to the upper deck. Return to the island and go to the right side of the giant monkey’s head.
Pick up another skull along the way. At the end you’ll see Murray’s skull. Take the bone from the hand, talk to your teammates, return to Glotka and show him the business card.
Give Glotka’s poems to your crewmates, examine the book on LeChuck’s ship, go up the stairs and talk to Putra in the galley.
Enter LeChuck’s cabin, take his journal and study its contents to learn the catchphrase used on February 17th. Ring the bell on the upper deck, go to the ship and take the sheet music on the left side.
Exit the ship, use the knife on the beached squid and give the tentacle to Putra. Take the dish, return to the island, follow the shipwreck on the right and take the skull.
Take the last skull on the central rock of the island, talk to your teammates, place the skulls on the sticks to your right and use the bone from your hand on them to play the desired melody. It will be: do, do, mi, sol, fa, fa, re.
Then choose the catchphrase you learned from the magazine, eat LeChuck’s favorite dish, pick up Murray and the manual, and then go to the shipwreck. Use the manual on the ship. Continue the walkthrough of Return to Monkey Island on the StopGame.Ru website.
Part 4. Things are getting complicated
Head to Lower Street, talk to the owner of the Real Voodoo shop and go outside. Talk to the owner of the Maps and Stuff shop and talk to the locksmith about Old Mrs. Smith to get the inheritance papers.
Enter the newly opened fish shop on the right side, ask the owner about Bella Fisher and interact with the flag on the ceiling. You need to join the ranks of the secret society. Tell the story and get the fishing lure.
Return to the Scamm Bar, show the pirate the bait, select the whale. Show the bait to the locksmith, learn new tricks, then return to your ship.
Sail to Tsinga Island, enter the camp and take the painting, note and firewood. Enter the linden grove and take the leaflet and some limes from Elaine.
Show Elaine the bait to learn new tricks. Sail north to Brrr Muda Island.
Once you’ve been inspected, check only the last box (below 33), sign it, continue on to Brrr Muda Island and enter the left courthouse.
Show the judge the will decree, go to the island and enter the ice quarry. Show the guard the bait, chat and go outside.
Go to the ice castle, climb up, take the matches from the shelf and talk to the Ice Queen. Accept any challenge and then enter the mezzanine (the room for the intellectual quiz).
Place the wood in the fireplace, use the matches on the wood, strike the triangle and swap the papers as soon as the queen looks to the left, at the dripping icicle.
Study the Fish of the Day poster in the left room for the Seriousness Challenge, fail the challenge in the center upper room, then swim to LeChuck’s ship.
Talk to Bob, show him the bait and talk about everything. Steal Putra’s demon pepper, and then go to Barebones Island, to the drifting ship, to talk to some people.
Sail to Mili Island, enter the fish shop and show your bait, choose options 2, 3, 3, 3 and 2, take the flag and examine the purple fish. Buy the toadfish and sail to Horror Island. By the way, in your case there may be another fish of the day!
Go to the island, go to the mysterious clearing, take the lamp and use the matches on it. Enter the marked place, take the key, and then go to the winding path. We continue the walkthrough of Return to Monkey Island on the StopGame.Ru website.
Use the knife on the sign at the very end, use the silver key on the lock you find, go inside and continue picking up notes from the ground in random rooms until you have five.
Examine the symbol in your inventory to teleport to the beginning, examine the notes and enter the rooms with symbols corresponding to top left, bottom left, middle, bottom right, and then top right.
Jump into the water, examine the sign to return, and swim to LeChuck’s ship. Use the lamp on Flambé, return to the winding path, jump into the water again and go right. The lamp will continue to burn underwater. Take the key and return back using the sign.
Sail to Tsinga Island, enter the linden grove with the bird, use the demon pepper on the fish and throw it to the bird. Take the photo part and combine it with the photo frame.
Talk to Elaine, sail to Mili Island and enter the shipyard. Take the toothbrush and the photo, combine the photo with the frame and make Guybrush kiss Stan’s hand.
Swim to Brrr Muda, enter the ice quarry and ask to meet Stan. Show the guard the photo, go inside and talk to Stan.
Show Stan the leaflet, sail to Barebones Island and show the judge’s decision. Take the court records, show them to the judge in downtown Brrr Muda and exhaust all dialogue options.
Double-check the footage, combine the license with the frame, then place it to the right of Guybrush. Show the fake license to the judge and show Stan the extended sentence.
Use the Dual Monocle on Stan’s shackles, craft a key from the Mile Island Locksmith, go back to free Stan, and then grab the brochure.
Show the brochure to the people on the drifting ship, take the flag and return to the museum on Mili Island.
Feed each parrot, open the display case and steal the flag. Examine it, re-enter the museum, open the box to trigger the alarm and steal the real flag from the storeroom.
Combine any of the two flags, enter the Governor’s Mansion and ask Carla about the people outside. Say you want to restore the local businesses and buy another box of the desired fish from the fish store.
Give the IOU to the crying cook at Scamm’s, take the cookbook, return it to the Governor’s Mansion and borrow The Neverending Tale. Give it to Bob on LeChuck’s ship.
Go to Brrr Mudu and enter the town hall. Take part in the seriousness contest and tell the queen a joke using the joke book. We continue the walkthrough of Return to Monkey Island on the StopGame.Ru website.
Place the desired fish in the bucket in the heartiness competition room, season the bucket with demon pepper and start the competition. Place the unseasoned fish from your inventory on your plate.
Sail to Mili Island, get a drink at the Scamm Bar (if it doesn’t suit you, re-enter the bar and get another one), go to the fish shop and have a sip, then examine the pufferfish.
Use the pufferfish in your inventory, swim to Bella Fisher’s secret fishing spot (marker X). Drop the anchor, go down and breathe with the pufferfish.
Take the key on the right, go back up and raise the anchor. Sail to Mili Island and talk to Widey Bones above the fish shop.
Return to the hold of LeChuck’s ship, examine the chicken with the key inside, feed it some chicken feed and exit. Re-enter the hold, take the key, return to the Real Voodoo store and use all five golden keys.
Part 5. Under the Monkey’s Head
Talk to Wally and Flambé, drop down and go left after the door closes. Use the crackers, knife, double monocle and empty mug of grog on the monkey statues (collect three coins along the way).
Go through the open door, take the fourth coin, give the first monkey statue 1 coin, the second one – two, pick up another coin from the floor, give the third statue two coins and a purse.
Take the knife and mug from the first monkeys, go down, this time go to the right side and use the knife on the first two monkeys. Fill the mug from any of them and use the full mug on the drain from the third monkey.
Enter the new door, examine the stone slab and look at the three open doors. Note the faces and the date, then turn the wheel to match those faces and the date.
Finally, change the date 4 times (to 1690), turn the inner wheel 2 times, the outer wheel 3 times. Enter the door, grab the popcorn and exit the alley.
