Resident Evil 2 Remake features several locked safes, desk drawers, and vertical cabinets that require the correct combinations to unlock.
In one of the first optional puzzles of the game, you will find Leon’s desk , located in the West Office. To open it, you need to get rid of two letter locks.
How to open Leon’s table
There’s a note on Leon’s desk that says Kennedy’s colleagues locked the desk, but created a code using the first letters of their names. You might get confused here because the police are supposed to call each other by their last names, but the code needs to be made up of the capital letters of the characters’ names.
To open the lock on the right side, enter the code MRG.
You can get this code if you look at the other police desks on the right side of the lock. There are name cards there: Marvin Branagh, Rita Phillips and George Scott. George’s name card is lying on the floor.
To open the lock on the left side, enter the code NED.
You need to act according to the same logic as before: David Ford, Elliot Edward, but you need to put their names in reverse order. The result is NED.
If you’re playing as Leon, you’ll get an extended magazine for his standard pistol. If you’re playing as Claire, you’ll get a reload booster for the revolver.
Combinations for cabinets with letter locks
— The locker on the third floor is DCM.
— The locker in the shower on the second floor of the west wing is CAP.
— The cabinet in the sewer control room is SZF.
Safe combinations
Safe in the west office on the first floor : turn left nine times, right 15 times, and left seven times. Inside is a hip bag.
Safe in the waiting room in the east wing : turn left six times, right twice, and left 11 times. Inside is a muzzle brake for Leon’s pistol or an extended magazine for Claire’s weapon.
Safe in the room with the purification pool in the sewers : turn left twice, right 12 times, and left eight times. Inside is a stock for Leon’s shotgun or a reinforced box for the SLS 60 pistol.
Portable safes
Opening these safes will give you spare buttons for the panel in the storage room across from the West Office. This will allow you to open the rest of the lockers that have the numbers “2” and/or “3” in their serial numbers. Locker #203 contains a hip bag.
For the first playthrough

To solve the riddle with the portable safe, you need to press the buttons in such a sequence that the green lights light up one after another (only adjacent and only counterclockwise). You can start with any green light (button). If you can’t remember, then write down the connection between the buttons and lights separately on a piece of paper.
