Gimmighoul is a Pokémon introduced in the ninth generation through Pokémon Scarlet and Purple and Pokémon GO , and it is very particular. So much so that its evolution also requires specific measures if we want to make it transform. Therefore, in the following guide we will tell you how to do it and all the interesting details about this chest, which are quite a few. However, when adding it to your Pokédex, be careful that it doesn’t steal some coins from you!
Pokémon Scarlet and Purple Guide: How to Evolve Gimmighoul
We can find Gimmighoul in very specific areas of Pokémon Scarlet. It proliferates in the towers of Area 3, ruins, desert or in somewhat inaccessible places, making it very interesting to have all of Koraidon’s or Miraidon’s abilities to get close to it. It cannot be seen with the naked eye, but with a little attention in hidden areas of the environment we can get it, and we must also keep in mind that it is not very large either, so we have to look closely.
Once we have captured one and want to evolve it, it’s time to start the treasure hunt, and that’s the right way to do it. Evolving Gimmighoul requires 999 Gimmighoul Coins. And how do you get them? In the case of this edition, the way to do it is:
- Fighting Gimmighouls in chest form gives us between 30 and 100 coins.
- The Walking Form leaves a few behind when interacting or disappearing. They tend to hide in small, inconspicuous places. For example, I found one under a ruin in the desert. You have to look very carefully, they are very small!
Gimmighoul’s Forms
Gimmighoul has two forms : Chest Form and Walking Form. As their names suggest, in one we’ll see him inside the chest and in the other we’ll see only his walking body carrying a coin. Also, this is important, because if we look at the table, we’ll see that the stats vary.

It takes a while to get all 999 Coins, but once you’ve got them, Gimmighoul Chest Form will evolve into Gholdengo. However, for this to happen, you have to add it to your party first and level it up (it doesn’t matter what level it’s in or what form it’s in). Once you’ve done this, the transformation animation will start and you’ll have its next form ready for battle.
