No one expected to return to Inaba in 2020, but a month ago a leak revealed that Persona 4 Golden was coming to Steam . This title is the definitive version of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 , the last of these ‘spin-off’ that integrated the name of the main Atlus franchise into its title. Unlike Persona 5 Royal , the game that arrived on PC does not have a translation into our language. Thus, in GamerFocus we have given ourselves the task of making a guide for one of the most important arcana in the game.
Guide to the fusions of the arcane ‘Empress’ in Persona 4 Golden
Normally, the ‘Social Links’ in Persona 4 Golden increase the level just by hanging out with the characters. However, some characters ask that the player meet some kind of conditions. Among these is Margaret, who asks the player to make fusions and that the result of these have a specific ability. Every time one of these missions is completed, Margaret’s ‘Social Link’ will level up. So to make it easier for players to pass through the ‘Velvet Room’, we have made a list with the fusions and how to obtain them.
Rank 1
To activate this ‘Social Link’, players will need to speak to Margaret in the ‘Velvet Room’ after May 19 (5/19). Additionally, the protagonist must have a minimum level 3 of ‘Knowledge’. Once we talk to Margaret, the first ‘Rank’ of the ‘Social Link’ will be unlocked.
Rank 2: Ippon-datara with Sukukaja
To obtain this fusion , the main character must be at least level 17 or higher. So to obtain an Ippon-datara (Hermit) with the Sukukaja ability, one of the following procedures must be done:
- Merge a Sylph (Temperance)with an Archangel (Justice), Lilim (Devil) or Cu Sith (Sun) . The most important thing is that Sylph has to have the Sukukaja ability, since thanks to this the result of the fusion will inherit the ability required by Margaret.
- Merge an Obariyon (Fool)with a Ghoul (Death) . This last Person must be a minimum level 10. This is because at that level Ghoul learns the Sukukaja skill.
Rank 3: Matador with Mahama
For the third level of the ‘Social Link’ , Margaret asks us to bring a Matador (Death) with the Mahama ability. However, our character must have a minimum level of 24 if we want to do this fusion . The options to accomplish this task are:
- Merge an Obariyon (Fool)with a Ghoul (Death) , but the latter must be at least level 10 for it to have the Mahama ability .
- The second option is to have an Anzu (Hierophant) –minimum level 19 – with Berith (Hanged Man) . The result will inherit the Mahama skill.
It is important not to get rid of Matador, as we will need him to reach level 27 for ‘Rank’ 4.
Rank 4: Gdon with Rampage
To get a Gdon (Sun) with Rampage, our protagonist must have reached level 31 . Once we have that level, we must fuse a level 27 Matador (Death) with an Ippon-datara (Hermit).
Rank 5: Neko Shogun with Bufula
The requirement to be able to access the fusion of Neko Shogun (Star) with the Bufula ability , players have to have their character at level 32 . Additionally, we will need to have the ‘Cross Fusion’ available. This is unlocked from July 20 (7/20). With this in mind, we first have to fuse King Frost (Emperor) with Hua Po (Magician) to get Kusi Mitama (Strength).
This Person is key, since it is the one who can have the skill required by Margaret.
Now we must do a ‘ Cross Fusion , with Ara Mitama (Chariot), Saki Mitama (Priestess), Nigi Mitama (Temperance) and the Kusi Mitama (Strength) that we had obtained from the previous fusion. This will give us the Person Margaret asked us for.
Remember to save or register Neko Shogun, as we will need him at ‘Rank’ 9.
Rank 6: Black Frost with Auto-Sukukaja
To get a Black Frost (Fool) with the Auto-Sukukaja ability , our level should be 38 . Once we reach this level we must have an Anzu (Hierophant) of level 20 . This is because at that level Anzu learns the skill we need. Now we will have to fuse our Anzu with a Sylph (Temperance) or an Apsaras (Temperance) to obtain a Jack Frost (Magician).
Then we will have to do a ‘ Cross Fusion ‘ with Pyro Jack (Magician) —which is achieved by fusing Ose or Oni with Dis or Hua Po—, King Frost (Emperor), Pixie (Magician), Ghoul (Death) and our recently fused Jack Frost (Magician) to achieve the result that we will present to Margaret.

Rank 7: Yatagarasu with Megiddo
To reach the seventh level of the ‘Social Link’ of the Arcanum Empress, players have to deliver a Yatagarasu (Sun) with Megiddo . Remember that the minimum level required for this task is 40.
First we must fuse Taotie (Tower) – having the Megiddo ability – with Cu Sith (Sun) in order to obtain an Ares that inherits the Megiddo ability. Now we merge our Ares (Chariot) with the Black Frost (Fool) of ‘Rank’ 6. The result of this fusion will be Yatagarasu, which Margaret requested from us.
Rank 8: Yatsufusa with Mediarama
The next task that Margaret has for us is to show her a Yatsufusa (Hanged Man) with Mediarama , one of the best skills we can have in the game.
Players must do a “Star Fusion”, which can be held from July 20 (7/20). The materials of this fusion are: Orthrus (Hanged Man), Makami (Hanged Man), Narasimha (Sun), Mothman (Hermit) and Thoth (Emperor). It is important to note that Thoth learns the Mediarama skill upon reaching level 47. Once the ‘Star Fusion’ is done, the result will be the one desired by Margaret.
Rank 9: Ganesha with Tetrakarn
Getting Ganesha (Star) with the Tetrakarn ability is quite simple. However, we must have our minimum protagonist at level 50.
Before we begin, we must remember that previously we had told them that they will save or register the Neko Shogun (Star) of ‘Rank’ 5. So we must do a triple fusion with Kaiwan ( Star), Fuu-ki (Star) and our Neko Shogun (Star) to get the desired result.
In the absence of Neko Shogun, players will also be able to fuse Decarabia (Fool) with Cu Chulain (Tower). Keep in mind that Decabara is the Person who inherits the ability from Ganesha.
Rank 10: Trumpeter with Mind Charge
We are already just one step away from completing the ‘Social Link’ of the arcanum Empress, but before claiming our reward we must give Margaret a Trumpeter (Judgment) with the Mind Charge ability . However, we must bear in mind that to achieve this fusion we must have our character at level 67.
The ingredients of the special fusion to get Trumpeter are: Matador (Death), White Rider (Death), Daisoujou (Hierophant), Pabilsag (Emperor), Taown (Hanged Man) and a level 38 Taotie (Tower) . Because at that level Taotie learns the Mind Charge skill . With this we have fulfilled all of Margaret’s orders.
Upon reaching the maximum level with the Arcanum Empress, Margaret will reward us with the object called ‘Spiral Brooch’. This allows the player to fuse the Persona Isis .
Once we finish Margaret’s orders and receive our reward, we will have to talk to her again so she can give us the suits called ‘Deep Blue Clothes’. These are based on characters from the Velvet Room from previous games in the Persona franchise .
