We’ll tell you all the secrets about breeding Pals in Palworld. Learn how to build a Hatchery, how to bake a Cake, and discover all the special combinations and breeding results.
Breeding in Palworld is an important mechanic that many players discover as they progress through their game. And yes, like in the Pokémon games , in this title we can put together two Pals of different sexes so that together they lay an egg and from this a new creature emerges that is stronger or has characteristics inherited from its parents.
In this entry of our guide we will show you all the details about breeding Pals, from what you need in your base to be able to start breeding to some of the most important valid combinations and fusions of Pal pairs and what results of offspring are born from incubated eggs. Take good note!
How to breed Pals? Requirements and steps
In order to breed Pals in your Palworld game, you first need to follow a few certain steps .
First, you must build a Hatchery at your base , the building in which Pals can breed and produce eggs from which babies are then born.
The Hatchery crafting recipe can be unlocked at level 19 of the Technology section with 2 Ancient Technology points, and requires the following resources to build:
- Wood x100
- Stone x20
- Fiber x50
As you can see, these are not very difficult resources to obtain. However, make sure you reserve a large space in your base, since the Hatchery takes up a considerable amount of space.
After building the Hatchery you will need to place a Cake in the box next to the fence of the enclosure . If you don’t do this the Pals will not be able to have eggs and the breeding progress bar will not advance. You could say that the Cake is what gives “energy” to the Hatchery (we explain how to get it below).
Once you place Pastel in the Hatchery, you can now breed a pair of Pals in the building. Please note that you must place a male Pal and a female Pal inside . You cannot breed with two Pals of the same sex, but you can breed with Pals of different species .
After a while, both Pals will lay an egg , and you’ll be able to incubate it in an Egg Incubator . When it finally hatches, you’ll have a new Pal in your collection that may have inherited its parents’ active and passive abilities , and even have a different element than its parents. In fact, don’t forget that if the parents are Lucky Pals , the offspring from the resulting egg will be even more powerful .
How to cook a cake?
As we have already mentioned above, breeding in Palworld is not possible if you do not have a Cake , a type of food that you must place in the Hatchery. Cakes can be crafted manually , but to do so you need to create a Pot at your base .
The Cooking Pot is unlocked from level 17 recipes in the Technology section and is built with Wood x20, Metal Ingot x15, and Ignition Organ x3.
In this type of kitchen you can make a Cake, among other recipes. To do this you must have in your inventory a list of ingredients that we tell you below how to get (visit the attached links for more details):
- Flour x5: Can be crafted at a Flour Mill with Wheat and a Pal with Irrigation ability (you can get Wheat by planting Wheat Seeds ).
- Red Berries x8: Can be easily obtained by planting Berry Seeds or assigning a Caprity to the Livestock Pen.
- Milk x7: You can obtain it by assigning a Mozzarina to the Cattle Pen.
- Egg x8: You can get them by assigning a Chikipi to the Livestock Pen.
- Honey x2: You can obtain it by assigning a Beegarde to the Livestock Pen.
It should be added that some of these resources can also be purchased from street vendors around the world. Of all of them, probably the most difficult to get is Flour because to make it in the Flour Mill you have to build this facility at the base, although before that you have to have planted Wheat seeds (which can be obtained for example by killing Cinnamoth , Dinossom , Flopie , Bristla or Robinquill ) in order to get the Wheat you need.
Finally, once you have all these resources, put a Pal with the “Start Fire” ability to work in your base (such as Foxparks ) and you will be able to make the Cake in the Pot.
Remember that you will need to make quite a few cakes if you plan on raising a lot of eggs in your hatchery, so prepare ahead of time.
Combining and Merging Pals: How Do They Work?
In Palworld, by bringing together two Pals of different sexes in a Hatchery, you can obtain a Pal that is the result of combining or fusing both parents. The mechanics are simple to understand: if you bring together two Pals of the same species (for example, two Anubis), you will always obtain a Pal that is the same as its parents (i.e., an Anubis).
However, breeding different species of Pals can allow you to obtain different species of Pals. For example, breeding a Penking with a Bushi results in an Anubis. Apparently, as you might imagine, these two parent Pals have nothing in common to breed and produce an Anubis offspring, but in Palworld breeding actually works by a hidden number system that could be called the “breeding power” of each Pal.
The formula for understanding parenting is as follows:
- Each Pal has a hidden number of “play power” ranging from 10 to 1500
- The lower this number, the rarer and strongerthe Pal is, while the higher the number, the more “common” or weaker the Pal is.
- When two species of Pals are put together in the Hatchery, what the game does is calculate an average of their“breeding power” numbers.
- The average number between the two parents (father and mother) results in which offspring will be bornfrom the egg.
Do you understand? To put it simply, here’s another example : Anubis has a “reproductive power” of 570. Penking’s power is 520 and Bushi’s is 640. By combining both Pals in the Hatchery, the formula we’ve explained averages a “reproductive power” for breeding the egg of 570, exactly the same power as Anubis . Therefore, this will be the Pal that is born from the fusion of both Pals.
The same thing happens for the rest of the Pals , so we can know in advance which Pals can be born from the fusion of different species of Pals.
Pals with exclusive combinations and fusions of breeding
Below you can check the list of Pals fusions that are exclusive to breeding:
- Surfent + Elphidran =Elphidran Aqua
- Jormuntide + Suzaku =Suzaku Aqua
- Foxcicle + Reptyro =Ice Reptyro
- Helzephyr + Frostallion =Frostallion Noct
These four Pals that we have shown are currently exclusive to breeding, that is, they do not have locations or habitats in nature to capture them in the wild and can only be obtained by bringing together the species shown in a Hatchery, in order to receive them from an incubated egg.
All combinations and fusions of subspecies Pals
Below is a list of all the special Pal fusions that have subspecies (also called type variants):
- Pengullet + Jolthog =Jolthog Cryst
- Mau + Pengullet =Mau Cryst
- Gobfin + Rooby =Gobfin Ignis
- Hangyu + Swee =Hangy Cryst
- Mossanda + Grizzbolt =Mossanda Lux

In total at launch there are 26 subspecies or variants of Pals and all of them can be obtained by fusing Pals at the Hatchery, combining the species shown above (some also appear in the wild for capture).
Pals with a single combination and fusion
Currently, the following 6 standard Pals species only have one possible breeding combination that will result in an egg of these species:
- Blazamut + Suzaku Aqua =Blazamut
- Mossanda + Rayhound =Grizzbolt
- Mossanda + Petallia =Lyleen
- Vanwyrm + AnubisAnubis =Faleris
- Relaxaurus + Grizzbolt =Orserk
- Kitsun + Astegon =Shadowbeak
These Pals have very restrictive breeding combinations because they can only be obtained through the fusions shown above or by combining them with each other (although they also appear to be captured in the wild).
Pals with unique combinations and fusions
There are currently 5 species of Pals in particular that do not have any type of combination in breeding, that is, eggs from these Pals can only be obtained by fusing two parents of the same species . They are the following:
- Jormuntide Ignis + Jormuntide Ignis =Jormuntide Ignis
- Paladius + Paladius =Paladius
- Necromus + Necromus =Necromus
- Frostallion + Frostallion =Frostallion
- Jetragon + Jetragon =Jetragon
