The TzHaar Fight Cave is a 63-wave solo challenge that gives the Fire Cape and some OSRS gold. TzTok-Jad is the last boss, here is how to beat him.
Get one of the best capes by completing this challenge.
Old School RuneScape is a big game if we are talking content-wise. There are a lot of things to do and for a lot of players, you can take your time and experience what the game has to offer. Players can just do quests and experience the lore and story arcs if they wish. However, you will have to complete some side challenges for the hardcore crowd that wants the best gear.
An example of a side challenge is the TzHaar Fight Cave. Completing this challenge will award the player with one of the best OSRS items in the game. This makes the challenge well worth it. You can also earn some currency that can be used for items that are worth a lot of OSRS gold. So if you want to push your character to the limit, then you will probably want to complete this challenge.
Luckily, this guide will give a general overview of what to expect and give some tips on how to complete it.
What Is The TzHaar Fight Cave?
The TzHaar Fight Cave is a solo challenge that will test players’ combat abilities by fighting waves of enemies. Players who complete this challenge will get the Fire Cape which is one of the best items in Old School RuneScape. There is also an upgraded version known as the Inferno which rewards the Infernal Cape.
Either way, if you want the Fire Cape you will need to fight through 63 waves of enemies. On wave 63 you will need to fight TzTok-Jad. TzTok-Jad is the final boss and can hit like a truck if you are not careful. Defeating him is a huge accomplishment.
Monsters
The TzHaar Fight Cave has various enemy types that the player will have to fight. Depending on which wave you are on, you might fight duplicate enemies at once. Most of the monsters have some sort of passive to be aware of. Knowing what these enemies can do will help you in the fight ahead. Waves will introduce either stronger monsters or more at once.
- Tz-Kih – A fiery bat creature that drains Prayer from the player on melee attacks.
- Tz-Kek – Reflects 1 damage to the player and splits into 2 smaller fire blobs.
- Tok-Xil – Strong ranged attack.
- Yt-MejKot – Heals other monsters and itself if below half health.
- Ket-Zek – Powerful melee attacks. Stay at ranged.
- TzTok-Jad – Final Boss
- Yt-HurKot – Similar to Yt-MejKot. 4 will spawn when the final boss reaches half health. They will heal the boss and other units in melee range.
Strategies and General Tips
For the most part, you will want to run a ranged build. While it is possible to do it with melee, it is much easier to use ranged weapons along with Protect from Missiles and other protect prayers. Using range also allows you to safe spot certain monsters and waves, making the battle much easier.
Reaching the final wave can take a long time. Luckily, you can log out after a wave if you want to take a break. Depending on your gear and your experience, it can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours to complete the TzHaar Fight Cave. Most people aren’t trying to play one challenge for an hour or more. So, feel free to log out if you want a breather.
As always, focus on the monster that is giving you the most trouble. It is usually best to take out the lowest health enemies first. Getting them out of the way will give you space to fight the tougher ones.
Final Boss: TzTok-Jad
TzTok-Jad is a giant monster that sort of resembles a bear or demon of some sort. This boss can do massive damage and is likely to kill you in one hit. This is especially true for his melee attack. Players are best playing a ranged battle against TzTok-Jad. His melee attack is barely telegraphed making it hard to predict and react to.
He has three attacks that you should be aware of. As I said, these can do big damage, so prepare to cast protective prayers in a split second. Also, be prepared to deal with his healing minion once you get him down to half health. You will need to aggro the healers so they stop healing him.
Melee: Fast fist attack.
Magic (Fireball): TzTok-Jad will stand on his hind legs and shoot a fireball out of his mouth.
Ranged (Falling Boulder/Meteor): TzTok-Jad will stomp with his two front feet, and a second or so later, a fiery boulder will fall on you.
Unfortunately, this boss does not reward the player with any OSRS gold, which may disappoint players who wish to acquire a significant amount of OSRS GP. There is a good side though, you can also use Tokkul you collected to save up and buy Uncut Onyx, which is worth a lot.

Conclusion
In short, this is one of the hardest challenges in Old School RuneScape. Players will have to complete this challenge solo. However, it is worth it if you want to obtain the Fire Cape which is considered one of the best-in-slot OSRS items. While this combat minigame isn’t going to get you much in terms of OSRS gold, it is still worth doing. It will take a few tries to get the hang of it, but you will take down TzTok-Jad and earn yourself that cape.
