Nioh 2 Walkthrough – Guide to All Bosses

There are a lot of bosses waiting for you in Nioh 2. In this guide, we’ll take a look at the best tactics for defeating all bosses. They are listed below in chronological order. Some bosses appear multiple times in different variations and environments. You will find all this here.

Basic tips:

  • Find all the Codes in every challenge! Every 5 Codes in the region gives you +1 regenerating elixir (if you find all 25 in the region, you will respawn with 8 instead of 3 elixirs, making it easier to fight bosses).
  • Use the blue graves. You will summon an AI companion to help you in battle. To summon them, you must first defeat the ghosts from the red graves to get the cups.
  • You can also summon guests (other players) to the Shrines in exchange for cups. They will help you until they die or leave your game.
  • When you reach a new boss, go for a test round where you simply block and dodge without attacking. Remember the bosses’ attacks and the moments when they slowly recover, giving you the opportunity to counterattack.
  • The basic strategy works in 95% of battles: Run sideways in a large circle around the boss, let him miss with a combination of hits. After that, we inflict one precise heavy blow and repeat on a new one. Also try to go behind the boss while he is performing his combo, as attacks from behind do double damage.

Recommended build:

First of all, with each weapon you can defeat any boss. Choose the weapon that seems to you the most convenient and the most pleasant. However, there is a very user-friendly build for newbies, and if you run into problems early on in the game, just try using this:

  • Recommended Weapon: Spear – this has the longest reach and you can attack with it while sprinting. This allows you to reach some of the weak points of enemies that would be difficult to hit with a short sword. It is also faster than other long weapons and can easily knock down human bosses. In addition, his attack power is mainly based on the Build stat, which is the most useful attribute as it gives you more health.
  • Attributes: Start by pumping all attributes to level 10 to create a universal character (“Dexterity” can be ignored). And then pump everything into “Addition”. When you get to the point that the armor will require you to have a higher level of “Skill” in order to activate its effects, then start pumping the “Skill” parameter. Also, add a few points to Magic.
  • Armor: Stick to low weight armor, below 30% of the total gear weight. This will greatly increase the recovery rate of your Ki, so you can run, dodge and attack more. Plus, you dodge faster.
  • Onmyo Magic: Equip the same amount of ” Rejuvenation Talisman ” and ” Steel Talisman “. The former allows you to temporarily permanently heal yourself, while the latter increases your defense.
  • Guardian Spirits: Use those that have a high degree of protection. Since you are wearing low weight armor, this will help you get a boost in defense at the right times.
  • Skills: “ Spear Flourish ” will help you defeat most human bosses with simple attacks and a CP burst by pressing . ” Sweeping Spear / Spear Flourish ” knocking them back, and most bosses generally can not attack you. Use ” Spearfall ” for a fast, high damage combo that also allows you to knock down human enemies for an instant killing blow, this move offers one of the best damage per second (DPS) ratios in the game.

Boss # 1 – Mezuki

  • Main Mission: The Village of Cursed Blossoms
  • Mission Level: 1
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 6/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Medzuki is a monster that looks like a horse and attacks with a long sword, which allows him to strike very far. He will sometimes use grapples at close range or shoot skulls if you are far away. The key to winning this fight is to deprive the boss of the KI (purple “stamina” bar at the bottom of the screen). It will catch him. Then you can freely attack him for a few seconds without any risk. However, to get started, you should spend a little time learning his movements, keep your distance and don’t even think about attacking. Watch him until you have memorized all his combos, and come to understand which of the moves is the last attack in the combo. In particular, after he finishes his 3-hit combo, it’s a good time to attack his head. Deliver two blows with a spear in the upper stance (), and then run far back to prevent him from hitting you. Force him to attack while in range of his attacks, and then quickly run back to avoid being hit. When he finishes the combo, land 1-2 hits from the top stance and back off. Another extremely important thing to look out for is charged attacks with a red glow. Whenever he is about to launch a charged attack, parry it with + (“ Burst Counter”). Timing is very important, so hit the moment the boss is about to hit you. It consumes some of your purple bar (“Anima”), but deals a huge blow to the boss’s Ki. Always use these red charged attacks against him until his Ki is depleted. By the way, this is the main difference from the first Nioh. There are more parries here than there were in the first part. You should also use the Soul Core ( + / + ) attack when his CI is nearly depleted. One of them should be enough to break his CI strip. After that, get ready to attack in a high stance. If he kneels, attack from behind to double the damage. Use your Ki pulse between attacks to restore your Ki and deal maximum damage on attacks.

After depleting his KI for the first time, he will summon the Yekai Realm, which will slow down your KI regeneration and also make him stronger. Just use his red charged attack with an on-attack ( + ) and strike when it’s safe to do so. When his KI is depleted the second time, he usually kneels down so you can attack from behind to double the damage (Note: Attacks from behind give + 200% damage to all bosses).

Boss # 2 – Enenra

  • Main Mission: The Beast Born of Smoke and Flames
  • Mission Level: 8
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 6/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Before heading into battle, be sure to sit in a nearby hot spring. You will find him behind the wall on the first floor of a burning building. He will constantly heal you and give you a temporary stat boost.

For this boss, you just need one move: a heavy attack in top stance with a spear (this should work with most other weapons, but a spear is perfect here). Always run sideways to the left. Keep running in circles around Enenre, he will miss all attacks. By the time he finishes the combo (usually 2-4 attacks), you will already be behind him and can make one spear attack in the top stance. Attack from behind deals + 200% bonus damage. Heavy attacks in the top stance also do the most damage and deplete KI. Repeat this tactic throughout the fight.

When you see explosions on the floor, then dodge. Just focus on his melee attacks (run left to miss, do 1 heavy hit from behind, repeat). For everything else, just lean back. As you get used to his fighting style, you can also try to strike in the top stance after he detonates. This is more risky as it has less downtime between these movements.

Be careful with his red charged attacks! Especially with a tornado. ALWAYS parry with + (“ Burst Counter ”). It’s rare to dodge or block tornadoes, so you’ll have to use a counterattack to deal with them. It also deals massive damage to the boss’s Ki, after which you can perform a combo , which launches the Piercing Rain skill, which deals massive damage. When his Ki is depleted, he will be stunned, which gives time to attack. Be careful though, it always transforms a few seconds after each KI depletion. 10 seconds after his Ki is depleted, you will want to dodge as he will surround himself with a tornado, transforming into Yekai Realm form. Because of this, your CI recovers more slowly, but the tactics of running to the left and throwing single heavy hits still work. The most dangerous moves are his charged grip and his charged tornado (both signal red and can be parried with a “ Burst Counter ”).

Boss # 3 – Gozuki

  • Side Mission: A Voice in the Twilight
  • Mission Level: 11
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 3/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

This side mission is like an arena where you have to fight waves of enemies. At the end, the boss is waiting for you – Gozuki. You already met him at the beginning of the first main mission. His attacks are very similar to those of the first boss, Medzuka, but easier to kill.

You just need to run / dodge to the side, trying to go behind him. From behind, you do more damage. If you can’t dodge the attack, just block it. Blocking depletes your KI, however, but this is the safest option, and the boss usually uses single attacks that take time to recover. If you’ve saved your elixirs without spending on other enemies, that’s good. Remember, the more Kodama you find, the more elixirs you will be reborn with. So if you have problems, then first find all the Codes, pump a little and come back later.

Boss # 4 – Yatsu-no-Kami

  • Main Mission: The Viper’s Sanctum
  • Mission Level: 15
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 4/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Yatsunokami is a slow snake boss with a predictable range of attacks. Basic tricks that you can easily use:

  1. When he rests his two snake hands on the ground to force them to attack you from below, the body becomes completely defenseless for a long combo.
  2. During his red charged attack, when he slides forward, run sideways so he misses, and perform a combo when he slides past you. When it slides back, repeat the same.

You can also take advantage of his throwing attack by moving sideways at a 45 ° angle towards him. So he will miss you and be defenseless for a short time. However, be careful, he may follow you and grab or strike immediately afterwards, so this is a more risky tactic.

When his Ki is depleted, he will throw off his snake arms and they will attack you too. Obviously, fighting only 1 enemy instead of 3 is easier. Therefore, your priority should be to eliminate his two serpent arms before they fall off. Just attack his snake arms from the side and they won’t interfere with you later. If one of them is still intact when it enters Youkai Realm mode, then focus on the detached little snake first before attacking the boss. His movements remain the same throughout all phases of the fight, so just repeat the above.

Use only one attack    in the top stance with the open Spearfall skill (requires Spear Mastery). This move has a long reach and a large hitbox to easily reach the boss’s hands. With other weapons, it will be difficult to reach the boss’s hands due to the limited reach. If you do use a different weapon, stick to heavy attacks in the top stance for maximum damage per hit.

Boss # 5 – Imagawa Yoshimoto

  • Main Mission: The Hidden Monsters of Okehazama
  • Mission Level: 21
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 2/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Imagawa Yoshimoto is the first human boss in the game. You will find that human bosses are usually much lighter than monsters due to their limited range of attacks, more predictable movement patterns, their ability to deliver lethal blows, and they usually do not use Youkai Realm phases. You can approach him like a regular enemy and not like a boss. You have a lot of room here, so just run to the left around it or dodge back. When he misses with a combination of attacks, you can attack. To keep things simple, perform a single Heavy Attack in Top Stance, reducing his health one hit at a time. He has little health and does not do much damage. Only when he summons his spirit animal, you should run to the side, so as not to be struck by lightning.

Boss # 6 – Imagawa Yoshimoto (2nd meeting) “Imagawa Diehard”

  • Side Quest: Imagawa Diehard
  • Mission Level: 23
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 2/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Only after defeating this boss in the last main mission can you fight him again immediately in the next side mission. It hasn’t changed at all, so the strategy is exactly the same.

Boss # 7 – Kama-itachi / Kamaitachi

  • Main Mission: The Mysterious One Night Castle
  • Mission Level: 28
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 3.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Kama itachi is a great weasel. He’s relatively fast, climbs trees and jumps a lot, but doesn’t do much damage and doesn’t have much health. Make sure to save yourself at the first shrine in case you need to revive, as it is the closest one. There is a hot spring on the way from the 1st shrine to the boss, which you must use to receive temporary continuous healing. And as always, you should find all the Kodami in the region to get as many elixirs as possible after respawning.

Use middle or top stances in battle. In medium stock with a spear, the combo works best   . Always move at a 45 ° angle to the left and he will miss most attacks. He has a 3 attack combo where he does a spin with his tail at the end, which you must block as he is the hardest to dodge. Also watch out for when he makes a red charged move at close range, as this is a grab that does a lot of damage. Always use “ Burst Counter ” +when you see it trying to capture. When he climbs a tree, hold the block button. He will always shoot a projectile at you when he climbs a tree, but blocking it is safe and the cost of KI is small. His 2nd move away from the tree will be a spinning attack towards you. If it’s a red charged spin, just move left to dodge it. If it’s not a charged spin, you can easily block it. After this movement, he is wide open to attacks. Always try to attack him from the left side. Instead of dodging, it’s safer to just walk at a 45 ° angle to the left and block all attacks, as they don’t drain a lot of CP. Attack from the side every time he ends an attack / combo.

Boss # 8 – Tsukahara Bokuden

  • Dojo Mission: Way of the Warrior – Adept
  • Quest Level: Unknown
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 1/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Tsukahara is a very simple boss man, not unlike the common samurai you constantly encounter. The main difference is that it uses the CI burst. It is very easy to break his defenses with a spear. Just keep jabbing him with the spear   in the middle stance until his Ki is depleted. Then do the finishing move and repeat. Just run away from him, and when he runs towards you, then poke him with a spear. He cannot run and attack at the same time, and the AI has problems defending against spear attacks.

Boss # 9 – Saito Yoshitatsu

  • Main Mission: The Hollow Fortress
  • Mission Level: 33
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 3/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Saito Yoshitatsu is a human boss and can transform into all 3 types of guardian spirit. While he is in human form, you only need: a single spear attack in the top stance on , and then the “ Spear Flourish ” skill (purchased from the list of spear skills). Just tap to make a KI splash. Repeat these two movements to lower his health and CI. With these two movements, you will numb and corner him. The only thing he can do is use a grip. When you see his hands casting white mist, dodge and then repeat the hit + splash combo.

Twice during the battle, he will transform into a random Guardian Spirit form. If he uses electric, you can still stagger him with hit + splash. If he’s using fire, just let him miss the combo, then hit 1-2 hits and repeat. If he uses the purple ranged type, then it is too risky to attack him, so just run away from him until he returns to human form in a minute. When he does, you can use Spear Flourish again . This skill is completely overwhelming against human bosses, as it stuns them completely and they cannot move or attack. This works against most human bosses.

Boss # 10 – Hatisuka Koroku / Hachisuka Koroku

  • Side Quest: The Shiftling’s Wise Judgment
  • Mission Level: 36
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 1/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

If you take Shibata to your team at the beginning of this side mission, you will have to fight Hatisuka at the end (and vice versa).

The fight is simple enough because you will have an AI ally that cannot die (he can be knocked out, but you can revive him unlimited times). Just let your AI ally take the attacks while you stay behind and hit the boss a few times from behind. You can also use the hot spring on your way to the boss. Since the AI has infinite health and does all the work for you, this is a free win for you.

Boss # 11 – Shibata Katsuie / by Shibata Katsuie (human form)

  • Side Quest: The Shiftling’s Wise Judgment
  • Mission Level: 36
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 1/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

If you take Hatisuku to your team at the beginning of this side mission, then you will have to fight Shibata at the end (and vice versa).

Boss # 12 – Tatarimokke

  • Main Mission: A Way Out
  • Mission Level: 38
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 4/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Tatarimokke is a large owl. Throughout the fight, always run to the left, especially when he is on the ground, without bothering to attack him. The only movement you should use is when he takes off into the air. In the air, he will shoot foggy skulls at you (run at an angle of 45 ° forward so as not to get hit), and then throw knife feathers (block them), again with foggy skulls and knives, ending with a red charged attack – a dive. You can dodge him if you are confident in your abilities, or you can just run to the left and he will miss 100%. The owl always follows the same sequence of attacks while in the air. After he misses with his dive attack, you can attack from behind. Wait for it to take off again and repeat.

Twice during the battle, he will summon darkness with a red seal in the form of a ball. You can either run away and wait for the darkness to disappear on its own (after about a minute), or destroy the red ball. However, be careful, the owl will attack you while you are busy with the ball. Only attack him after she has done her aforementioned combo (flight-skull-knives-skull-knives-dive). Make sure that it bounced away from the red ball and not landed on it (stand farther to lure it). Also, you need to have enough KI so you can use a strong combo on the red ball to destroy it in one go. If it gets you in trouble, just wait it out and let the darkness disappear on its own. The main thing is to stick to tactics – run to the left around the owl and use the combo completion with flying against it.

Boss # 13 – Black Samurai / Obsidian Samurai

  • Side Quest: A Formal Match
  • Mission Level: 45
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 2.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

The Black Samurai is a human boss, which means it’s time to resort to the basic tactics of hitting a spear in the middle stance. Run to the right throughout the fight. Have him miss the combo and then hit him once in mid stance with the spear on . Repeat until he dies. When you see him using his spirit animal, move as far as possible and quickly run to the right, as he may be about to charge you, and running to the side is the best option to avoid getting hit. His other moves are basic ax and sword combos.

Boss # 14 – Magara Naotaka

  • Main Mission: Corpses and Ice
  • Mission Level: 44
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 6/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Magara Naotaka is an ice giant. So far, he has more health than all the previous bosses. Single hits do not do him much damage, and he himself has a lot of combos in stock, any of which can kill you if you are not careful. Fortunately, all attacks are easy to avoid – just run to the left at all times! Having light armor (less than 30% of the gear weight) helps to increase the KI (stamina) recovery rate so you can run for a long time. Find a comfortable distance where you are close enough that he can attack, but far enough that he cannot hit you. Run in a circle around him to the left, and by the time he finishes his combo, you will be behind him or to the side and be able to land 1-2 hits in the middle stance (if you manage to attack from behind, you will do double damage!). Again, the spear comes in handy here because of its great reach. You have to dodge a lot in this fight, so it’s best to stick to the middle stance, which has good defense and doesn’t use a lot of CP when dodging. Don’t use the top stance, it consumes too much CP and dodges are too slow for this boss.

Don’t try long combos on him, he’ll just hit you. Be careful and reduce his health one hit at a time. The fight will take some time, but as long as you stick to the one hit rule (maximum two), you will be relatively safe. If you are wearing heavy armor, you may have problems with the recovery rate of KI, so change to light one to keep the weight of the equipment below 30%.

In addition, there is a hot spring in front of the boss. It is located behind a hidden wall to the left of the boss, where there are 3 samurai enemies. If your health is not enough, then jump into the hot spring before the fight to get temporary health regeneration. Also find all Kodams in the region (7 in the first main mission and 8 here). Every 5 Kodama in the region gives +1 elixir slot after resurrection. Also use the ” Rejuvenation Talisman ” (Magic Onmyo skill), it heals you continuously for a long time.

Be careful that this boss learns new moves from the very first transition to the Dark Realm mode. Especially his red charged combo has a lot of hits, and the last hit has an ultra-long range. Escaping the last hit of a combo is not easy, so you need to block the last hit instead (but not its previous hits), or even better try to use a counterattack if you’re confident. He also starts summoning ice thorns from the ground later in the fight, but they can be easily escaped if you stick to the rule of always running to the left.

Boss # 15 – Honda Tadakatsu

  • Side Mission: Horns on Head, Dragonfly in Hand
  • Mission Level: 52
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 2/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Honda was already in the first part of Nioh. It uses a spear and an animal spirit with a lightning element. The tactics are the same as with most human bosses. Run sideways next to him so that he misses all of his attacks (he usually makes spear strikes that are easy to dodge). When he is done, he will be vulnerable and you will be able to land a few hits. Repeat. Use the middle or top stance for optimal damage dealing. You also receive his Shin-Roku animal spirit as a reward.

Boss # 16 – Azai Nagamasa

  • Main Mission: Bird In A Cage
  • Mission Level: 49
  • Recommended weapon: Spear / Any
  • Difficulty: 2 ++ / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Another boss is a man, which means that the tactics of running to the side will again help us, allowing us to get away from the boss’s combo, and the subsequent counterattack. Always move to the right. Attacking in the middle stance works well against him, as you can hit him with a spear from a distance. Stick to this tactic throughout the fight.

Of the advantages, it is worth emphasizing that this boss has the weakest attacks among all those described above. In addition, you can block his attacks with minimal CP expenditure, and this is a good alternative tactic for running sideways and dodging. Hold to block him if you accidentally hit his attack zone and everything will be fine.

Boss # 17 – Onryoki

  • Side Quest: The Golden Nation
  • Mission Level: 50
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 4/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Onryoki was the second boss in the original Nioh. If you have played it, you are already familiar with it. Fortunately, this time you will encounter him much later, when you are stronger and have more skills in store. It will be easier with him than in the first part. In the first phase, he will use shackles with large steel balls. They do huge damage. Most importantly, take your time and use the blow onwhen he finishes a rotational attack with shackles or in front of him. Always try to attack him from behind to do double damage. Only throw single hits and do not use combos, as his rotational attacks are fast and he can hit you. When his body is empty by a third, he will throw off the shackles, which means he will only attack with his hands. This means that the radius of his attacks will be lower than before. You can now use a 2-3 hit combo. Always move sideways to get behind him. By the time he finishes the combo, you will be standing behind him and be able to land a few quick hits. Back off and repeat.

Boss # 18 – Saito Yoshitatsu (2nd meeting)

  • Side Mission: The Point of No Return
  • Mission Level: 52
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 1/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

See boss # 9 ” Saito Yoshitatsu “. This is the same boss as before. His attacks have not changed either, which means that the tactics of the battle have not changed. However, this time it is even easier! Use the yellow crystal dodge by jumping off either side and forcing the boss to follow you. While he jumps off, he is completely defenseless, and you can hit him several times. Then climb the incline again and repeat until you win. This tactic is especially useful when he is transforming. Thanks to this trick, he will never be able to attack, which makes this fight one of the easiest in the game.

Boss # 19 – Oda Nobunaga

  • Side Mission: The Demon King’s Blade
  • Mission Level: 53
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 1/10 (with Spear Flourish skill)
  • VIDEO GUIDE

One of the easiest bosses in the game if you use the Spear Flourish skill . This is one of the starting spear skills that only requires 1 mastery point. Allows you to stun the boss throughout the fight and prevent him from attacking. You only need to use the top stance spear combo . Clicking on launches the Spear Flourish skill , which knocks this boss (and almost all other human bosses) back during your Ki burst. Then you can strike atand repeat this easy combination until the boss dies. When he is cornered, there is nothing he can do. Remember to use your Ki Burst correctly to restore as much Ki as possible. Look at the red bar of CP below your health, and when the white bar after your attack fills up, you press to restore the CP spent on the attack. So you can continue to use this technique indefinitely. Also wear light armor so that your KI recovers faster (below 30% of the weight of the equipment) or go to it without armor at all.

Boss # 20 – Magara Naotaka (2nd meeting) + Ghost

  • Side Mission: The Brother’s Blades
  • Mission Level: 46
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 7.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Despite the fact that this side quest becomes available sooner, we strongly recommend that you wait until you reach the 4th region and get the best equipment or level up. At the time of this writing, this is the most difficult fight.

You first have to fight a few weaker opponents before Magara Naotaka (the giant ice boss) sees the light of day again. The first half of the fight with him is identical to the previous meeting with him (see boss # 14). However, he will soon summon a powerful ghost to help him. Don’t focus on the ghost or even try to attack it. If you do this, you will easily lose sight of the main boss, who will simply bomb you with attacks that you will not see. So concentrate on the ice boss by clicking on, and only fight with him. The overwhelming majority of tactics from the first half of the battle are still applicable now. We advise you to stay in the middle stance, because there is a lot of dodging (less CP costs than when dodging in the top stance). His only attack worth using against him is an ice attack on the ground in a straight line. When he does, move towards him at a 45 ° angle. So he definitely won’t be able to hit you, and you can quickly close the distance and deliver 1-3 hits. Any weapon will work, but it is better to use a mid-stance spear due to its range. The number of hits that you manage to inflict depends on where the boss’s assistant ghost is now. Magara cannot do anything for several seconds after using this attack. Better to attack him from behind to do double damage, but don’t forget about the ghost. If you see that he starts an attack, then dodge!

Be sure to equip light armor before the fight so that the weight of the equipment is below 30%. It is important to be very nimble during this fight. Always move in a large circle around the boss and the ghost. Always run and never attack until he makes the above attack. This is the only safe moment to attack. After Magara falls, you still need to defeat the ghost. Use the moments when Magara’s assistant is running to land single hits. While running, he is defenseless and cannot attack. Repeat this tactic until you defeat the ghost. Sometimes he will use charged spear attacks, during which you should dodge to the right.

In addition, be sure to find all 25 Codes in the 3rd region “Shadow” in order to get the maximum amount of elixirs for healing after resurrection at the nearest sanctuary. Using the ” Rejuvenation Talisman ” (Magic Onmyo skill) is also very helpful, as it heals you continuously over time. Use them instead of elixirs in the early stages of the fight, thus saving your elixirs for when you may really need them. Having good weapons and armor can also help. If the fight is difficult for you, skip the boss now and return after leveling up to level 100 and higher.

Boss # 21 – Saika Magoichi

  • Main Mission: Pervading Waters
  • Mission Level: 54
  • Recommended weapon: Spear / Any
  • Difficulty: 6/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Saika is a boss that already appeared in the first Nioh, but this time you don’t have to fight him in the burning room. This time the battle takes place in a very spacious room with a large number of columns that can be turned into an advantage. The main feature of this boss is the ability to fly despite the fact that he is a human. It is better not to mess with him during the flight. As soon as he starts flying, stand behind the pillar and wait for him to shoot 3 times. The pillars will block all his shots. When he does, he will land on the ground again, giving you a few seconds to attack (the top stance is recommended for maximum damage).

Never go out into an open part of the room, the boss is constantly shooting all over the place and he has some powerful combos and a burning melee attack that can kill you with one hit. Instead, stay behind the pillars and wait for him to come close. If he shoots, then let him shoot, as the columns will block the shots. When he approaches from the opposite side of the pillar, you can strike while he is approaching! He usually doesn’t block attacks while he runs towards you. Mostly you can attack him near the column. You can hit him as many blows as your KI allows, and then retreat behind another column and repeat.

One move you should be wary of is when he summons multiple fireballs. They get you, even if you are behind a pillar. When he uses it, run towards the fireballs at a 45 ° angle. Run from where you were to the other side of the arena. Due to the fact that you are running at an angle, all the fireballs will miss you. As soon as they disappear, we hide behind the columns again, until Saika approaches you himself.

He also loves to throw bombs, but when you are behind pillars, you can avoid damage by blocking on .

Boss # 22 – Gyuki

  • Main Mission: Pervading Waters
  • Mission Level: 54
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 2/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Gyuki is the biggest monster you’ve met before. However, for his size, he doesn’t have much health. It is very slow. You just need to hit him from the side on the stomach in the upper stance, pressing on . If you see him bouncing, use the block immediately! That’s all you have to do. Never stand in front of him. As long as you keep on the side of his belly, he cannot attack you and jumps up. Even if you are low on Ki, you can still block all the damage from his attack.

Boss # 23 – Tsukahara Bokuden (2nd Encounter)

  • Dojo Mission: Way of the Warrior – Veteran
  • Quest Level: Unknown
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 1/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

See Boss Tactic # 8 as it still applies now.

Boss # 24 – Gozuki + Medzuki / Gozuki + Mezuki (two bosses)

  • Side Mission: The Refined Man of the Underworld
  • Mission Level: 57
  • Recommended weapon: Spear + Ninjutsu ” Paralyzing Tierra del Fuego / Paralytic Groundfire “
  • Difficulty: 5/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

First you need to deal with the rank and file opponents of Gaki and Enki. Then Gozuki appears. When the boss’s health drops to about 10%, then Medzuki will appear and join the battle and you will defeat both of them. Keep fighting Gozuki to finish off and then switch to Medzuki. Having the Paralytic Groundfire ninjutsu comes in handy in this fight. Set at least two of these traps, and try to get Goduzki into them. They will catch him, and you can go behind him and use a strong combo. This should be enough to deprive the last remnants of life. As a result, you are left alone with Medzuki.

For tactics for each boss, see tips for boss # 1 and # 3.

Fortunately, this time it won’t be a problem. The fact is that he is the same as when you first met, and you, of course, have become much stronger. Because of this, his attacks do not do much damage to you, so don’t worry too much about accidentally missed attacks, as you probably have a few healing elixirs left. If you have an eternal health problem, then collect all 25 Codes in the region to always revive with 8 elixirs.

Boss # 25 – Kasha

  • Main Mission: The Frenzied Blaze
  • Mission Level: 60
  • Recommended weapon: Spear / Any
  • Difficulty: 7.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Kasia is the first boss where you can’t just run left or right to dodge all attacks. She rides on two wheels that leave a flame on the ground. The boss uses AOE attacks, creating circles of fire or trails of fire when approaching you. Watch out for them, as they will add permanent fire damage to your character.

Ideally, you should prepare for this fight and take at least a couple of talismans to protect you from fire (Onmyo Magic skill tree). Also acquire the Firebreak II skill in the Onmyo tree to gain +8 fire resistance. If you start to burn, you can heal yourself with Daion-Jin’s Sake . Using all of this will help greatly reduce the damage that it deals with fire.

Now about tactics: There are two points you can use to complete your longest hand. During these moments, she will not counterattack or defend.

Firstly, when she is driving towards you, leaving a trail of fire behind her, run or dodge to the right (in no case to the left!). When she flies past you, immediately run after her! Once she stops, use your strongest combo on her (top stance). It won’t do anything for about 4-5 seconds. If you manage to break the yellow crystals on the sides of the wheels, she will take additional damage. Concentrate on them if possible.

Secondly, when she makes a charged (red) attack – rolls towards you in a straight line and leaves two trails of fire – she will be defenseless for about 3-4 seconds. This is enough to deliver about 3 hits.

Attacking her at other times is too risky. Step back in a straight line and block any attacks that are within your radius. Do not bother with constant dodging, as you will most likely be hit with a whip, which is much easier and safer to block (you spend quite a bit of CP). Remember that even if your KI is nearly depleted, it will still completely block incoming damage from one attack.

When she summons the Dark Realm, she summons a spiked wheel that will chase you for about 30 seconds. Just run around the arena in a circle and wait for the saw to disappear, and only then continue the battle with the boss.

During her second phase of the Dark Realm, be prepared to summon two minor assistants – Gaki. They have half the health of a regular Gaki, but they do double damage and are extremely aggressive! Kill them quickly, but be careful. Maintain your youkai form for the final part of the battle, when it is at or below 10% health.

Boss # 26 – Ryomen Sukuna

  • Main Mission: The Sun Sets on Mount Tenno
  • Mission Level: 66
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 2.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Remen Sukuna is a large youkai boss that consists of two bodies attached to each other – fire and water. He can switch between them, but usually uses his fiery half, and uses the water one only for ranged auxiliary attacks.

The main points you’ll want to use are charged attacks (with a red aura). Always use Burst Counter ( + ) on them. Fortunately, the timings are fairly simple (as usual before he hits you) and he uses them quite often. After a successful counterattack, you can continue to attack him with your most powerful combo. In between his charged attacks, run left or right at a safe distance, let him miss his combo, hit him a few hits and repeat.

If you counterattack in time, then the fight with this boss becomes easier and shorter. Not only does the counterattack deplete his KI, the subsequent combo does even more KI damage as well. One or two counterattacks along with a combo should be enough to completely deplete his Ki. When this happens, you can simply hit him as he will be overwhelmed and unable to answer.

Due to the fact that the boss uses charged attacks most of the time and is easy to block, you can drain his Ki and stun the boss for most of the fight.

Boss # 27 – Saika Magoichi (2nd Encounter) ‘The Third Word’

  • Side Mission: The Third Word
  • Mission Level: 70
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 4.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

In this side quest, you will have to fight Saika again. See boss # 21. This time it will be easier for you, since you have already pumped and know his attacks. Now, instead of pillars, you will have a large rock on the left side of the battlefield, where you can hide from his shots. It looks like the developers want us to use the environment for protection when we encounter this boss. Just hide behind a rock, let it come closer and then peek around the corner to use a strong combo on it, then repeat. When he flies into the air and fires, then just hide behind a rock, where you will be safe.

Boss # 28 – Maeda Toshiie

  • Main Mission: Ruin Draws Near
  • Mission Level: 72
  • Recommended weapon: Spear / Any
  • Difficulty: 3.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Maeda Toshiie is a mid-level boss. He is agile, equipped with a spear, and deals quick attacks. However, he does not have much health. Move in a circle around it to the left. He misses more often if you run to the left than to the right. Dodge his combo and then attack. This is where the Paralytic Groundfire skill comes in handy.”(Ninja skill tree). It is not necessary to use it, but if you open it, then throw traps around to paralyze the boss for a few seconds when he stands on one of them. Stand behind him to deliver a powerful blow and continue to attack. while he is lying on the floor. Doing this several times, you will take away the lion’s share of his health. If you do not have the skill, then simply inflict several blows and move in a circle to the left. If you play with a spear, you can also easily knock him off legs with the ” Spearfall ” skill , after which you use a killing blow while he is lying on the floor.

Boss # 29 – Shibata Katsuie (True Form)

  • Main Mission:  Ruin Draws Near
  • Mission Level: 72
  • Recommended weapon: Spear / Any
  • Difficulty: 7/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Shibata Katsuie is a youkai boss with boar-like fangs and uses the element of fire. Most of the fight you have to bounce off his attacks a moment before they hit, since they are fast enough and you won’t be able to run away from them.

As usual, the first mission in the new region is the most difficult due to the fact that you have not enough Kodam collected, which means that you have few elixirs after resurrection. We advise you to find 7 Codes in front of the boss so that you have 4 elixirs to heal. Also equip as many ” Rejuvenation Talisman ” (Magic Onmyo skill) as you can, so it heals you continuously for a long time and, in fact, acts as an analogue of an elixir. Equip light armor below 30% of your total equipment weight so that your KI will recover faster and move faster, as this is very important in this fight.

Now about the battle itself: remember that the attack from behind does double damage, so do not forget to use it. I would recommend using the middle stance. In the bottom stance, you do a little damage, and in the top stance you move slowly. The spear is perfect for this fight. The attack in the middle stance is very harmful to the opponent’s KI and is very fast. Once his CI is depleted, you can hit him with multiple combo hits.

There are three attacks after which it is safest for you to attack the boss:

  1. Capture (recognizable by white smoke). Dodge to the side a moment before he tries to hit you (after he starts jumping towards you). Then you can land 2-3 blows from behind. Do not try to run away from him, he will still catch up with you. Just dodge!
  2. Charged attack as it dashes back and forth across the room multiple times. Sometimes twice, sometimes four or more (random number). Do not try to run away, as he will catch up and hit. Instead, stand still and after he rushes towards you like a bull, dodge at the last moment. Because of this, he will not be able to correct his course and will sweep past. Wait for it to run over, and then hit 2-3 times from behind.
  3. Charged barrage of blows with a red aura. This is a very powerful attack. You need to learn how to use a counterattack against this combo. If your timing is bad, just press + three times in a row. Most likely, one of the 3 parries the combo. Even without respecting the timings, you block the damage from his hits. Try using the first counterattack when he is about to hit you for the first time. If you fail, then continue using the counterattack to protect yourself from damage (if you don’t, it will kill you). If the counterattack works, then you can deliver about 3 strikes from the front. If you block or dodge his charged attack, it will take him a full 5 seconds to recover, so get behind him and use a powerful combo.

Focus on exploiting the weak points of these three attacks. You should dodge the rest of the attacks. Unfortunately, he uses attacks in a random order and you can always predict which attack he will use in the next moment. In any case, be careful and careful.

Boss # 30 – Enenra (2nd Encounter) ‘Okuni’s Search’

  • Side Quest: Okuni’s Search
  • Mission Level: 74
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 1.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

See Boss Tactics # 2. You have already fought this boss at the beginning of the game. However, now you are assisted by an ally who will distract the boss. Just pick it up when it falls and let Enenra concentrate on it. At the same time, you can hit the boss from behind (in the top stance, attacks do not do the most damage). Enenra has a lot of health (more than any boss at the current moment of progress in the game), but since you are attacking together, the risks of dying are lower. There is another enemy in the room with Enenra, but you can kill him in advance (for example, shoot him and lure him out of the room before the fight).

Boss # 31 – Tokichiro

  • Main Mission: The Two Faces of Hospitality
  • Mission Level: 78
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 2/10 when using the method with the Spear Flourish skill or 7/10 in fair combat
  • VIDEO GUIDE

There is a very effective method against this boss. Equip yourself with a spear, use the top stance and acquire the Spear Flourish skill . This is the starting spear skill that only costs 1 skill point. This skill knocks enemies back when you use Ki Burst, allowing them to be stunned indefinitely.

Attacking you need to click on the line only and . So you can stun the boss for a long time. However, sometimes he can counterattack (you will notice a blue shine on the enemy’s sword and the characteristic ringing of a bell), as well as summon a guardian spirit that jumps around, but it is easy to escape from him. If you attack him while his sword is flashing, he will perform a grab that can instantly kill you. Apart from this attack, there is nothing more to be afraid of.

To make it even easier, equip at least two Gallnut Broths (Ninjutsu Skill Tree). Use one at the beginning of the battle, and then when his health drops to 50% and he changes the element to electricity. The broth will add a poisonous effect to your weapon, and on impact, you will begin to poison the boss. The poisoning effect lasts for a long time and deals additional damage. As mentioned earlier, after he loses half of his health, he will start using the electric type of attacks, which means that talismans will be very useful. Equip 1-2 talismans for protection from electricity (Magic Onmyo skill tree). Sometimes he will shoot electric vortices and set traps. Daze him with Spear Flourish”You will reduce the likelihood of using these attacks, but he can still use a whirlwind and the talisman will help you in such moments. If you are hit by electricity, then you will slow down, which means that for you the battle is most likely already lost. It is also worth equipping 1-2 ” Rejuvenation Talisman ” (Magic Onmyo skill). It will heal for a long time, which means, in fact, acts as an additional elixir for treatment. In the first half of the battle, do not use elixirs, only talismans. Use elixirs only in the second half of the battle.

Boss # 32 – Hattori Hanzo – Dojo Spear Mastery ‘Hanzo the Demon’

  • Dojo Mission: Hanzo the Demon (Spear Mastery)
  • Mission Level: 80
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 5/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

You can open this dojo mission upon reaching 180,000 spear skill. In the battle with Hattori, you will use a wooden weapon. All skills from the spear skill tree are available to him. Defeating him will unlock access to the Mystical Arts with the Spear. Attack him in the middle stance just on when he moves towards you. He cannot defend himself while walking. Just step back when you run out of CI and need to restore it. When the Ki is fully recovered, you can hit it three times, and then repeat everything in a circle until you win. In this fight, you only have 3 elixirs, and he can kill you instantly if he makes one single capture. If he dodges your attack, then simply dodge back to restore the rhythm of the tactics described above.

Boss # 33 – Hachisuka Koroku (2nd Encounter) ‘The High-spirited Demon’

  • Main Mission: The High-spirited Demon
  • Mission Level: 84
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 3.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Hatisuka Koroku is a human boss who uses kusarigama and water-type attacks. If you completed the side quest “The Shiftling’s Wise Judgment”, then you have already fought with him. However, then he was weaker and he had a different set of attacks.

This time he was much more agile and learned new tricks. Fortunately, single hits of the kusarigama do not do much damage. By dodging back, you can get away from all of his combos. After completing each combo, you will have time to land a few quick hits on the boss (we recommend the middle stance, as dodges are faster than the top one).

There is one attack you can turn against him. When he jumps into the air and then throws his Kusarigama into the ground and pulls himself towards you. Just dodge to the side, quickly go behind your back and attack for a few seconds. This attack is very easy to dodge and will stand defenseless for quite some time afterward. When he goes into Dark Realm mode, he becomes a little more aggressive. If you don’t want to deal with it, just run away from it for a minute. Also use ” Rejuvenation Talisman ” (Onmyo Magic skill) to heal yourself.

Boss # 34 – Daidara Bocchi

  • Main Mission: The High-spirited Demon
  • Mission Level: 84
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 3/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Deidara-bochi is a giant youkai the size of a mountain. To defeat him, you need to destroy the yellow pieces of amrita on his hands. By destroying each piece, you reduce the KI bar (purple stamina bar) of the boss. It is not necessary to destroy all the shards on one hand to deplete the Ki. Can be destroyed, both on the left and on the right. When you deplete his Ki, you will be able to get to the hands of the head to hit. Repeat until victorious. In total, the battle has 3 stages. In the third phase, he also grows shards on his hands, which you, as usual, must destroy. He then lowers his head to the ground and you can perform the final killing blow to end the fight.

We recommend using fast spear attacks in the middle stance. They allow you to deal damage to 3 or more crystals at a time. Always do three of these combos (3 hits for 3 crystals at a time = 9 hits). This way you can destroy crystals faster, unlike a katana, which can only be hit by one crystal.

When you see red circles on the ground, it means they are preparing an attack with stones from the air, or some other attack will take place on this piece of land. If you see that the boss’s eyes are glowing yellow, then you should run to the side, as he is going to shoot laser beams from them.

Boss # 35 – Onryoki (2nd Encounter) ‘Stray Cats’

  • Side Quest: Stray Cats
  • Mission Level: 86
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 1/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

See boss clue # 17. This time, three little cats will help you with him. Technically, you can just run and they will do all the dirty work for you.

Boss # 36 – Shuten Doji

  • Main Mission: The Mausoleum of Evil
  • Mission Level: 91
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 4.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Shuten-dozi is a large youkai boss that uses a sword and fire element. He has powerful attacks, but is very slow and drinks throughout the fight. When he gets drunk, he will fall, and you can deal the fatal blow to him.

It is worth using a counterattack against his charged attacks with a red aura. One of these is capture (dangerous if you haven’t timed it), and the other is flame from the mouth (less dangerous). After a successful counterattack, you can give him a combo.

Between his combos, you have a few seconds to attack. It takes him a long time to recover before he starts attacking again. Try hitting him from behind to do double damage.

When he attacks with a weapon, then step back beyond the reach of his blows, or dodge forward and to the left at an angle of 45 ° a moment before hitting you. This way you will be able to evade his attack, as well as immediately counterattack him.

When he sprays fire on the floor, do not step on him. Be sure to have a few ” Rejuvenation Talisman ” (Magic Onmyo skill) available to heal yourself throughout the fight. The ” Steel Talisman ” is also very useful, as it will help reduce the damage from boss attacks.

Boss # 37 – Maeda Toshiie

  • Side Mission: Mataza of the Spear
  • Mission Level: 95
  • Recommended weapon: Spear / Any
  • Difficulty: 3.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

You will fight Maeda again. See boss tip # 28 for tactics, as the approach to fighting him hasn’t changed.

Boss # 38 – Enenra (3rd Encounter) ‘The Golden Castle’

  • Main Mission: The Golden Castle
  • Mission Level: 96
  • Recommended weapon: Spear / Any
  • Difficulty: 3/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

You have fought Enenra twice already. See boss # 2. This time he will be easier than the first time, since you are already familiar with his attacks and have discovered more skills.

Boss # 39 – Mezuki + Gozuki

  • Main Mission: The Golden Castle
  • Mission Level: 96
  • Recommended Weapon: Spear / Any + ” Rejuvenation Talisman ” and ” Steel Talisman “
  • Difficulty: 6.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

This time you have a really real fight with two bosses at once. Fortunately, their levels are much lower than yours, they have low health and do little damage. One fatal blow is enough to take down 30% of their health. You should deal with one first, and then arrange a 1v1 battle with the second. The arena is spacious enough to make circles around it. We advise you to deal with Medzuki first, as he performs charged attacks more often.

Just use Counterattack on all charged attacks with a red aura. Also, do not attack a lot, just run to protect yourself. After counterattacking, you can perform a combo and then repeat the process.

Use the ” Rejuvenation Talisman ” and ” Steel Talisman ” to save your elixirs . One increase protection, and the second heals for a certain time. Use both and the bosses won’t be able to stop you. Also, the reason to focus on Medzuki first is his skull and ax attacks. If you start with Gozuki, you will often receive long-range attacks from Medzuki that are not always in sight.

Boss # 40 – Yatsu-no-Kami (2nd Encounter) ‘The Golden Castle’

  • Main Mission: The Golden Castle
  • Mission Level: 96
  • Recommended weapon: Spear / Any
  • Difficulty: 2/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

  • Recommended weapon: Spear / Any
  • Difficulty: 5/10

Boss # 42 – Lady Osakabe

  • Main Mission: The Golden Castle
  • Mission Level: 96
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 3/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

This is a giant boss whose hands are vulnerable. Killing a hand reduces the boss’s KI. It will completely deplete after destroying 4 hands, and then the head will fall to the ground and you can attack it.

Hands will shoot at you throughout the battle. By focusing on one hand, it will be difficult to notice when others are attacking you. At such moments, the main thing is to listen, since the attacks of the hands emit a characteristic sound, which will become a signal that it is time to get out. To defeat your hands, you need to deplete their own KI (stamina) bars. So they will become defenseless. Be sure to use attacks in the top stance to do the maximum damage possible. For example, 3-4 blows with a spear onin the upper stance is enough to drain the Ki of one hand. As long as the hand does not move, you can quickly deal with it. Then do the next one. At close range, hands also try to hit you, but all attacks can be easily blocked. Before you get close to your hand, restore your CI completely. You can then land a few quick hits that will drain your opponent’s Ki in seconds.

Just repeat this tactic until you defeat the boss.

Boss # 43 – Maeda Keiji

  • Side Mission: The Bravest of the Brave
  • Mission Level: 93
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 1/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Use the spear in the middle stance and press to poke him as he runs towards you. He will not be able to defend against an attack. A very simple boss who will not be able to hit you with this strategy.

Boss # 44 – Kasha (3rd meeting) ‘The Dream’s End’

  • Side Quest: The Dream’s End
  • Mission Level: 98
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 3/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

See boss tactics # 25. However, an ally is now helping you. In fact, you can throw all the dirty work on him, and you can only run around the arena and revive your ally so that he defeats the boss for you. However, Kasia has more health in this fight, so you should try to land a few blows from behind when you are sure that she is focusing on your comrade.

Boss # 45 – Tokichiro (2nd Encounter) ‘Cherry Blossom Viewing in Daigo’

  • Main Mission: Cherry Blossom Viewing in Daigo
  • Mission Level: 103
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 6.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

You will fight Tokichiro a second time, but this time he will be more aggressive and will be able to use even more elemental attacks. However, you can still more or less use the spear tactics described in boss tip # 31.

You can use Gallnut Broths (Ninjutsu skill tree) to poison him. However, when he uses the Dark Realm, he will heal all negative effects, including poisoning. This helps to shorten the duration of the combat phases, but you must be very careful not to let him kill you while you are applying poison (or other buffs). You can use it before the fight to use it already in the first phase of the fight. Also, do not forget to collect all the Kodami in the region in order to have the maximum amount of elixirs in stock for healing after resurrection. Also equip ” Rejuvenation Talisman ” and ” Steel Talisman “”to heal and strengthen your defense. Also, do not forget to sit in the hot spring, which is located behind the 3rd shrine, as it heals you for a long time.

When he goes into Dark Realm mode, run as far as possible in a circle around him. While he is using electricity, do not attack as he is insanely fast. When he uses fire, you can outrun his fire attacks and then land 1-2 hits on the boss from behind. You can also run around for a minute until the effect of the Dark Realm dissipates.

Boss # 46 – Kashin Koji

  • Main Mission: Cherry Blossom Viewing in Daigo
  • Mission Level: 103
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 5/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Boss Kashin Koji appears immediately after defeating Tokichiro. However, if you die, you don’t have to kill Tokichiro again, so don’t worry about that.

Basically, Kashin uses elemental attacks of all varieties. He is something of a magician, but with poor defenses and not very large health reserves. After you defeat him, he will rise again and you will have to kill him a second time. However, if you die in the second phase, then after the resurrection you have to go through the first phase of the battle again.

When you run in a large circle around him, you can avoid his attacks quite easily. Wait for it to open, strike one blow, back off and repeat on a new one. When you carry the maximum amount of elixirs and buff yourself with the talismans of Rejuvenation and Steel , then it is not that difficult. If you die in this battle, take a dip in the hot spring behind the 3rd shrine before returning.

When he uses the Dark Realm, he can create clones of himself. One blow to them is enough to make them disappear. However, he doesn’t always do that. It also summons a rain of elemental swords that are worth blocking as they are difficult to escape. Middle or top stances work best in this fight. For spear players, a mid stance combo is recommended .

Boss # 47 – Ryomen Sukuna (2nd Encounter) ‘Restoring Harmony’

  • Mission Level: 102
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 1.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

See boss tactics # 33. If you are having trouble with him, then the easiest way is to go up the hill to the left, forcing the boss to follow you, and jump down. He will jump after you. While he is in the air, you can hit hard. Then climb the incline again and repeat until you win.

Boss # 49 – Shibata Katsuie (2nd Encounter) ‘Restless Spirits’

  • Side Mission: Restless Spirits
  • Mission Level: 104
  • Recommended weapon: Any / Spear
  • Difficulty: 3.5 / 10

Boss # 50 – Azai Nagamasa (2nd Encounter) ‘Yaksha Returns’

  • Side Quest: Yaksha Returns
  • Mission Level: 106
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 2/10

See boss tactics # 16. The second time is easier because you know how it works.

Boss # 51 – William

  • Main Mission: The Blue-eyed Samurai
  • Mission Level: 109
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 2/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

William is the character we played in the first Nioh. The fight is pretty simple. Let the boss run up to you. While he is running, use a single heavy attack in the top stance. He cannot defend himself while he is running. If he does anything else, then you should run to the side. William has a little health, so this fight won’t take you long.

Boss # 52 – Akishage Yoshiteru

  • Dojo Mission: Master of the Dual Blades (Dual Swords Mastery)
  • Mission Level: 80
  • Recommended Weapon: Dual Katana (forced)
  • Difficulty: 4/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

In this fight, you should use the stones in the arena to your advantage. Hide behind them and make Akisaga attack you. After he performs a slow attack, after which he needs time to recover, you can land him one hit in the top stance. We repeat this tactic until the boss is defeated.

Boss # 53 – Matsunaga Hisahide

  • Side Mission: Master of Three Evils
  • Mission Level: 80
  • Recommended Weapon: Any
  • Difficulty: 3/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Matsunaga will start the fight by trying to use a grab – he will run to you and try to grab you (he will do a lot of damage if he succeeds). Dodge left a moment before he gets to you and you should be fine. He loves to buff himself and throw poison or paralyzing bombs at you. When you buff yourself with magic and debuff it, it becomes easy to fight with it. His throwing attacks are slow and vulnerable. When he throws something, run behind him and do either a single top stance attack that deals a lot of damage, or use a long combo.

Boss # 54 – Hattori Hanzo ‘Dojo Mission: The One Who Lives in the Shadows’ (Ninjutsu Master)

  • Dojo Mission: The One Who Lives in the Shadows
  • Mission Level: 80
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 3/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Use the spear in the top stance and the ” Spear Flourish ” skill . During the boss fight, take turns pressing (attack) and (pulsating KI – ” Spear Flourish ” skill ). This will corner Hanzo, which means he won’t be able to attack or move at all. When your KI runs out, your attacks are slowed down and he can break free. If you manage to push him through the door where you appeared, then it will be difficult for him to leave, which means the strategy will work even more efficiently.

Boss # 55 – Kato Danzo

  • Dojo Mission: The Way of the Ninja: Veteran
  • Mission Level: 52
  • Recommended Weapon: Dual Katana (forced)
  • Difficulty: 3.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Kato uses wooden katana and ninjutsu. Here you have to use certain weapons. Use dual swords, have Kato miss with his combo, and then make a single attack in the top stance and repeat on a new one. When the boss is using dust clouds, do not go into them, as he will try to jump on you and use a strong grab technique.

Boss # 56 – Sakata Kintoki

  • Dojo Mission: The Unmoving Mountain (Ax Mastery)
  • Mission Level: 80
  • Recommended weapon: Ax (forced)
  • Difficulty: 4/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

The easiest way to deal with Kintoki is to use a combo in the top stance. Let him miss with his combo and then attack him with that combo. It does huge damage if you manage to use it. After that, dodge back, let the KI recharge and repeat the tactic on a new one. His strongest attacks are grabbing and hitting the floor. Single attacks with an ax do not do much harm, since it is wooden.

Boss # 57 – Mumyo

  • Dojo Mission: Sharp Eyes (Switchglaive Mastery)
  • Mission Level: 80
  • Recommended weapon: Scythe (forced)
  • Difficulty: 1/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Use the top stance and perform single heavy attacks when Mumyo runs up to you. Step back, let her run up again and hit when she is within hit range of your attack. Repeat until victorious. She does not know how to defend herself while running towards you.

Boss # 58 – Shisenin Kosen ‘Dojo Mission: The Tengu’s Blade’ (Master Odachi)

  • Dojo Mission: The Tengu’s Blade (Odachi Mastery)
  • Mission Level: 80
  • Recommended weapon: Odachi (forced)
  • Difficulty: 4/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Wait for the boss to finish the combo, then use a single top stance attack and pulsate Ki . Repeat until you run out of CI. When Shisenin runs at you, then use blows on the top or middle stance. However, this can be risky as the boss starts using combos very quickly.

Boss # 59 – Shisenin Kosen ‘Dojo Mission: The Chain that Splits the Sky’ (Master Kusarigama)

  • Dojo Mission: The Chain that Splits the Sky (Kusarigama Mastery)
  • Mission Level: 80
  • Recommended weapon: Kusarigama
  • Difficulty: 3.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

In this dojo mission, Shisenin Kosin appears before us as Master Kusarigama, and you will have to fight her with the same weapon. The easiest way to win is to throw Kusarigama in the top stance while Kosin is running towards you. The attack does not do much damage, but the radius of reach is very large. Be careful not to get hit by her weapons (though they don’t do much damage). Grapples are the boss’s only dangerous hits.

Boss # 60 – Shisenin Kosen ‘Dojo Mission: Opening of the Mind’s Eye’ (Sword Master)

  • Dojo Mission: Opening of the Mind’s Eye (Sword Mastery)
  • Mission Level: 80
  • Recommended weapon: Katana (forced)
  • Difficulty: 3.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

In this task you have to cross the katanas with the same Kosina. When she runs towards you, take one hit  in the top stance. Also hit her when she misses with a long combo. Use it to the fullest. You only need one attack, as with most battles.

Boss # 61 – Hattori Hanzo ‘Dojo Mission: Like Lightning’ (Master Tonfa)

  • Dojo Mission: Like Lightning (Tonfa Mastery)
  • Mission Level: 80
  • Recommended weapon: Tonfa (forced)
  • Difficulty: 3.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

In this mission, you and Hanzo fight tonfu. Move left to dodge his attacks and then use a mid-stance combo on him. In a low stance, you do little damage, and an upper stance is too slow against the Hattori combo. Repeat until he falls. Watch your KI (green stamina bar). If you run out of Ki, Hattori will use a very strong grip against you.

Boss # 62 – Sakata Kintoki ‘The Unstoppable Whirlwind’ (Ax Master)

  • Dojo Mission: The Unstoppable Whirlwind (Hatchets Mastery)
  • Mission Level: 80
  • Recommended weapon: Hatchets (forced)
  • Difficulty: 2/10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

You can only use hatchets in this quest. Hide behind a tree and wait for the boss to throw a weapon at it. After he does this, then you will have the opportunity to attack, since he recovers for a long time after throws. Perform a combo on the top stance. Repeat this tactic until you defeat the boss.

Boss # 63 – Otakemaru (Final Boss)

  • Main Quest: In the Eye of the Beholder
  • Mission Level: 114
  • Recommended weapon: Spear
  • Difficulty: 8.5 / 10
  • VIDEO GUIDE

Otakemaru uses all three forms of youkai. He will regularly switch between these forms. When his health drops to 50%, then he transforms into his real form with a completely different set of movements. At 25% health, he again changes his set of attacks, and swords begin to fly near him, which he often throws and can kill you in one hit.

This is the hardest boss in the game as it has multiple phases and many attacks that can kill you in one hit. First, let’s look at what attacks can be used, and then go through all the phases and what unique attacks he uses in them.

Use the spear in the top stance. Run towards the enemy and press to perform a quick attack while running, and immediately after him use the pulsation of the Ki with the ” Spear Flourish ” skill equipped . If you manage to get behind the boss, you can deal double damage. Just run around and don’t stop. The boss is very fast, which means that slow attacks should not be used. Attacking while moving is much less risky and easier for you to dodge his attacks. By the time he finishes the attack animation, you can already hit him and move away again. With standard attacks, this is unrealistic, so use only single attacks while running, and the rest of the time use ” Spear Flourish “.

Carry 5 ” Rejuvenation Talisman ” and ” Steel Talisman ” with you. The former allows you to temporarily permanently heal yourself (in fact, additional elixirs), while the latter increases your defense, allowing you to avoid instant death from powerful boss attacks.

  • Phase 1 (100% -50% health) : During this phase, the boss will switch between three forms: Feral (electric with daggers), Phantom (purple with ranged attacks) and Brute (red with heavy melee attacks).
    • Feral (daggers): Run to the right and while we move, inflict quick attacks on the boss, alternating with the ” Spear Flourish ” skill . Koga he uses attacks with a red aura, either contract in time or dodge to the right when the attack animation starts. Sometimes he jumps into the air and hits the ground with his daggers. He becomes vulnerable for a moment if you can run / dodge this attack. This is his fastest form, but it does not do much damage while the Rejuvenation and Steel talismans are active at the same time. Just try to do as much damage as possible during this phase.
    • Phantom (ranged attacks): He will throw his sword, which is difficult to dodge. Fortunately, it does little damage. Here, your faithful friends – Talisman of Rejuvenation and Steel Talisman – will help you a lot . You won’t even notice that it hits you, since the Steel Talisman blocks the vast majority of the damage taken , and the Talisman of Rejuvenation heals you as quickly as you take damage. Just keep running to the right and launching quick attacks on the move.
    • Brute (melee attacks): This is his slow form. Wait until he misses his combo. As soon as he finishes, we go behind the back, perform the aforementioned attack, retreat and repeat on a new one. He will often swing his club back and forth, so don’t push.
  • Phase 2 (50% -25% Health): He will now show his true form. Until the end of the fight, he will remain in it.
    • After he sticks his sword into the ground, the boss will rush towards you with a jump at the end, after which an explosion will occur. It deals huge damage. The moment before it lands, you need to dodge to the right at an angle of 45 °. Don’t dodge the moment he starts jumping, as he adjusts and still hits you. You have to time it accurately and dodge at the last moment. After his miss, we strike back. We advise you to use a heavy attack in the top stance, since for some time after a miss he cannot move.
    • When he hits the ground with his sword, his weapon will either ignite, or an electric shock will occur in an area with a large radius of destruction. If you are close, you will not have enough time to leave, in which case there is nothing you can do about it. If you are at a medium distance, then you will have just enough time to escape from the affected area.
    • When he makes a red charged attack, run away! He strikes very quickly, so it’s hard to get the timing right. And if you fail to time it correctly, he will strike a couple more blows. It’s too risky, just run!
    • When he hits the ground with an ice sword, he summons 3 puddles of water in the place where you are. Run away quickly. If you hit all three, you will die. They do colossal damage.
    • When you’re in the distance and he throws ice spears at you, just walk or run sideways and they won’t hit you.
    • When he enters Dark Realm mode, just keep doing what you did before. His attacks do not change in this mode, you just have a slower recovery of KI.
    • The best moment to use in this phase is jumping, after which you have a moment to stab him.
    • By this point, you will probably run out of talismans. Everything is fine, because before the next phase you should have 7-8 more elixirs left.
  • Phase 3 (25% -0% Health): Now swords are flying around him, with which he will throw at you. He can use them to grab from afar (easy to dodge by stepping to the side) or he can throw swords into a large circle and they will be aimed at you. If you hit, you will die instantly, even if you try to block.
    • He will use both old attacks and new ones.
    • If you see him throwing his swords in a straight line with a distinctive gray glow, then this is a powerful grip! Easy to dodge if you run to the right.
    • If swords start spinning around the arena, then expect him to throw them at you. A hit means death. Blocking won’t help. So don’t stand still, but run to the right to dodge the attack.
    • If he throws two swords in a straight line at you, you will die if you cannot dodge. You will not be able to block the attack, you will die immediately.
    • When he throws his swords into the air, they will rain down on you. Run quickly to the right of him at a 45 ° angle. If you stay in the “rain”, you will die. The block is useless again.
    • Try to save 1-2 Steel Talisman for this phase so you don’t die from sword throws. If you often die in this battle from one hit, then pump a little more, change skills and spend more than 80 points on the Build parameter in order to increase the health level.
    • Don’t bother yourself with blocks. They are useless in this phase. You better run and attack
