Nekomiya Mana’s Strengths and Weaknesses
Nekomata’s strengths and weaknesses are mostly dictated by her Attributes, which determine the rotation and combat style of the character.
Nekomata’s Strengths :
- Can deal powerful area damage and quickly deal with groups of weak enemies;
- Possesses high mobility and maneuverability due to the ability to pass through enemies;
- Increases damage up to +60% when using counterattacks and quick assists.
Nekomata’s Weaknesses :
- To maintain the damage buff, you need to use a counterattack every 6 seconds, or play from quick help;
- The fast-paced play style may not suit every player;
- To conveniently activate quick help, the squad must have an agent with the Support specialty, but at release the choice of characters with the physical attribute is very limited.
Best build for Nekomata
This build allows you to pump up Nekomata’s damage with the skills you use most in combat. The Signature Amplifier provides a bonus when attacking enemies from behind, and the included Drive Disc set accumulates boost levels when crits Basic Attack, Counterattack after Dodge, and Enhanced Special Attack.
Below we will discuss separately possible alternatives for each piece of equipment.
Best Troops and Banbu for Nekomata
Since Nekomata is an S-rank agent with the Offense specialty, she will be the main damage dealer in the party. To make full use of her additional ability, it is recommended to add at least one other agent with the same attribute or from the same faction to the team.
The first squad is based on Nekomanta’s affiliation with the “Sly Hares”. It is not the most successful in our selection, but it is free and available at the very beginning of the game.
Nekomata in this build is responsible for dealing damage and acts as the main DPS, Enbi is responsible for stunning enemies, and Nicole is responsible for reducing the defense of enemies, gathering them in one place and opening a window for Quick Help.
But with the physical mono-build on release, everything is not so simple, since three of the four available heroes of this attribute belong to the Offense specialty. With the appearance of new agents of the Physical attribute Support in future patches, you will be able to balance this team with them.
In the proposed squad, Piper will be responsible for accumulating attribute anomaly and activating Onslaught, Nekomata will act as a damage dealer, and Corin will be brought onto the battlefield after stunning the enemy to deal damage with an enhanced special attack.
A variation of the previous squad, where we give the third slot to a Support agent with a different attribute to receive buffs and easier activation of Quick Aid.
We recommend choosing a faction to keep all the squad bonuses, which limits our choice to two characters: Lucy and Nicole. However, Lucy’s attack power buff is preferable in our opinion.
Another variant of the Nekomata squad, which is implemented with two S-rank heroes. Lycaon or Qingyi in this case will be responsible for stunning enemies, Nekomata will help them by using Defense Assist and dealing damage if possible.
Corin, in turn, goes out to deal burst damage, using an enhanced special attack on stunned enemies and allowing you to keep all the team bonuses with Lycaon.
Best Equipment for Nekomata
In this section of the guide, we’ll look at the best gear for Nekomata and talk about the appropriate boosters and drive discs for the character. If you’re not quite familiar with the Zenless Zone Zero lexicon, the booster is the character’s weapon, and the drive discs can be called his artifacts.
Best Amplifiers (Weapons)
Steel Paw is a signature S-rank amplifier for Nekomata that perfectly matches her skills and fighting style. It not only increases the character’s physical damage, but also further increases the attack power of attacks from behind.
The other options are more versatile and can be used as an alternative. Of the A-rank boosters, we recommend choosing the Star Engine, whose buffs fit well with Nekomata’s main passive skill.
Amplifier Characteristics Effect Steel Paw Base Attack
46-684Critical Hit Rate

40-594Attack Power

40-594Critical Hit Chance
8%-20%Attack power is increased by 7.5-12%. When dealing a critical hit to an enemy, additional damage is dealt equal to 200% of attack power. Cannot occur more than once every 6-8 sec. Star of the streets Base Attack
40-594Attack Power
10%-25%When a squad member initiates a chain attack, the agent with this item gains 1 charge. Can stack up to 3 times. Using the Super consumes all charges. Each charge effect increases the damage dealt by the skill by 15-24%. Best Drive Disks (Artifacts)
We offer you three options for drive disk sets to choose from. The first, and the best in our opinion, is universal and aimed at increasing Nekomata’s damage when using a basic attack, counterattack after dodging, or an enhanced special attack.
The second one is worth using in physical teams that can frequently activate Rush, and the third one will allow Nekomata to deal good burst damage and increase the power of her ultimate, which will be useful in teams that play from stun.

4pcs : Super ability deals 20% more damage, when the super ability is launched, the attack power of the agent with this item increases by 15% for 12 sec.Woodpecker-electro (2 pcs)
2 pcs : Increases critical hit chance by 8% Nekomiya Mana Upgrade
When upgrading Nekomata’s skills, first pay attention to the Propensity, as it increases the damage buff. Then upgrade the Basic Attack, which is used by the character most often.
After that, the order may change slightly. If the squad has characters for quick activation of Onslaught (for example, Piper), the priority of Special Attack can be increased. It is better to supplement such a build with a set of 4 drive discs “Fierce Heavy Metal”.
If not, then pump Evasion or Chain of Attacks. In general, for characters of the Offense specialty, it makes sense to pump all available skills over time.
Mental picture (constellations) of Nekomata
Try to get at least one duplicate of Nekomata to awaken the first Eidos. This will allow her to ignore the 16% physical damage resistance when attacking from behind, significantly increasing her damage.
Eidoses 4 and 6 are also good, but not good enough to justify the investment in getting duplicates.
1. Bird Hunt
When Nekomata attacks from behind, she ignores 16% of the target’s physical damage resistance. If the enemy is stunned, all of Nekomata’s attacks are considered attacks from behind. 2: Cat and Mouse
When there is only one enemy left on the field for Nekomata to fight, her energy generation increases by 25%. 3. Curious Left Tail
Basic Attack, Evasion, Special Attack, Chain Attack Level +2. 4. Sharp Claws
When Nekomata uses her enhanced special attack, her critical hit rate is increased by 7% for 15 sec. The effect stacks up to 2 times, but each duration is counted separately. 5. Lucky Right Tail
Basic Attack, Evasion, Special Attack, Chain Attack Level +2. 6. Predator Genes
When Nekomata performs a chain attack or uses her ultimate, her crit damage is increased by 18%. The effect stacks up to 3 times and ends when she leaves the battle. If Nekomata defeats an enemy, the effect immediately stacks to the maximum.
How to play as Nekomata?
Counterattack after dodging and Quick Aid increase Nekomata’s damage for 6 seconds, so try to use them as often as possible. After stunning an enemy, you will need a hero with the Support specialty to be able to Quick Aid Nekomiya and get the buff.
Nekomata’s secondary ability greatly increases the damage of her enhanced special attack when the enemy is under Rush. Try to use this mechanic as much as possible if you have characters in your party that increase the physical attribute gain (like Piper).
Nekomiya’s ultimate deals damage in a large area, allowing you to clear a bunch of smaller enemies from the battlefield. You can also save it for when the boss is stunned to deal even more damage.
Use Nekomata’s combo to activate Basic Attack: Crimson Blade to get behind the enemy. This will add dynamics to the fight and increase the character’s damage if there is a signature cone. When combined with the first Eidos, the damage increase will be very noticeable.
How to get Nekomiya Mana?
Nekomata is one of the six standard agents that can be obtained with a 0.6% chance from any character banner in the current version of Zenless Zone Zero.
In addition, Nekomata can be guaranteed to be obtained for 300 spins of the standard banner – she is on the list of characters offered for choice.
Who voices Nekomata?
At this point, we only know the voice actors for Nekomata in two languages: Chinese and Japanese. Zenless Zone Zero also has voice actors in Korean and English, but the developers have not yet announced who is voicing Nekomata in those languages.
- Nekomata’s Chinese voice actress is Hualing.
- Nekomata’s Japanese voice actress is Hara Sayuri.
Nekomiya Mana Artwork
Although Zenless Zone Zero is relatively new, fan artists have already dedicated quite a lot of art to Nekomata — and of course, she’s a cat girl. We’ve put together a small selection of fan and official works, done in a variety of styles.
