Corona virus is a family of viruses found in humans and animals. Some of the viruses can correct humans and cause various diseases, ranging from general illnesses such as flu, to more fatal diseases, such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
How is the Corona Virus spread?
Often this virus spreads between humans and humans through liquid droplets from the mouth and nose when an infected person is coughing or sneezing, similar to the way the flu transmits. Fluid drops from the patient’s mouth and nose can fall and remain on the mouth and nose of other people who are nearby, even inhaled and absorbed into the person’s lungs through his nose.

Can Corona Virus be prevented? What can I do to protect myself?

The best way to protect ourselves is to avoid conditions or places where you have the potential to be exposed to the virus. A disease prevention agency in the United States, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests you a number of things below to prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, namely:
- Wash your hands more with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before you go out of the bathroom; before eating; and after you blow your nose, or cough, or sneeze.
- If water and soap are not available, use an alcohol hand sanitizer with an alcohol content of at least 60%
- Avoid touching your face before washing your hands
- Avoid close contact with sick people
- Stay home if you are sick
- Cover your mouth when coughing and sneezing using a tissue
- Expand to clean up your belongings and furniture in your home
Can Corona Virus patients recover?
There is no anti-virus treatment to cure those infected with Corona Virus. Patients need to get extra medical care to relieve and eliminate symptoms.
Do I need to use a mask?
Using a mask can reduce the spread of respiratory ailments, but using a mask does not guarantee that the spread of the disease will really stop. Other prevention methods that can be done are to maintain cleanliness, close your mouth and nose if you cough and sneeze, and avoid close contact with Corona Virus patients – keep a distance of at least 1 meter between the patient.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that people use masks only if they experience symptoms of respiratory illness (coughs and colds), or if they have been diagnosed with Corona Virus, both mild and severe. One way to spread the Corona Virus is by traveling to China, or being close to someone who has just come from China and is experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness. People who live in and travel to areas where the virus is spreading have the potential to be infected with the Corona Virus. Currently, the Corona Virus is spreading in China, where the most Corona Virus cases are detected. Corona Virus patients in other countries are those who have recently traveled to China, or lived, or worked and made close contact with Corona Virus patients.
Medical workers who treat Corona Virus patients have a very large risk of being infected with this virus, so they need extra prevention procedures.

So, is it safe for us to travel now?

What should be done by those who have just returned from Wuhan or other locations infected with Corona Virus?
If you experience symptoms such as fever, cough, and other respiratory pain, within 14 days after you return from China, you need to check your condition to the partner hospital while conveying your background of returning from China.
Can this virus spread through packages of goods sent from China?
Those who receive packages from China need not worry about contracting the Corona Virus. This virus does not last long on an object, such as paper and package boxes.
