The graphic adventures of a lifetime, those of the point and click style , made us enjoy a lot… several decades ago, unfortunately. And it is that what once became one of the most popular and demanded genres by gamers (especially PC), today is little more than a marginal genre that a couple of independent studios barely remember and little else . Precisely for this reason, when a title of this same nature lands, the followers of this kind of games get a great joy, something that already happened some time ago with the return of the unpresentable Larry with his adventure Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don ‘ t Dry . A quite remarkable production as we make clear in the corresponding analysis and that, given the good reception it got, it is back with a sequel.
Exactly, because Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice is a direct continuation of this work that we just told you about. A game that was seen in its PC version some time ago and that has now been converted to console format. And as many of you are already thinking, it is a very continuous sequelas we will now explain, which by the way starts exactly where the previous one left off. Precisely for this reason, we are not going to explain too much about his argument. Simply, you should know that Larry seems to have found his better half and it is his turn to explore a tropical island (or more than one) to try to find her. And what if you didn’t play the original? Well, not too much, the truth, since the plot can be perfectly followed and, even and if we wish, at the beginning of this adventure it is possible to attend a summary of everything that happened in said first part.
Once again, Larry goes on adventures to prove that he is still a flirt … but old-fashioned.
An old-fashioned seducer
Broadly speaking and to put you in a situation quickly, the protagonist of this story is Larry. A character who lives anchored in the past (in the 80s no less) and who is absolutely lost in the current era. But not only in technological matters, which also, but uses old-fashioned expressions, obsolete jokes and other stories. And if that were not enough, in addition to all this he is a macho and simple being to the fullest. A kind of torrent in a “seductive” version. As it is, does it fall badly? Well, the truth is that no, he is one of those characters that you can’t help but laugh at and who tend to cause embarrassment.

Once at work we realize that, indeed, we are facing an old-fashioned point and click adventure . The left stick allows us to move the character through the environments (quite limited movements), while the right lever is the one that controls the cursor that appears on the screen and that allows us to interact with the objects and characters that are in the sets. To this basic control scheme is added the typical usual interface of this type of works that, among other things, allows us to access our inventory. A system that is housed in the mobile terminal so hated by the protagonist in which the role of the digital assistant stands out, which serves as a guide … in several senses, including moral.

The game formula is what you would expect from this type of game and, of course, from the franchise itself. Gathering the direct witness of what is reflected in the last installment, our main task is based on dialogue with the various characters that are seen throughout the game (conversations that have been translated into our language), being able to choose the answers that we believe are most appropriate in each case. It is also necessary to explore the funds and, most importantly, to collect the objects that are found there, which must be used at the right time and place in the common puzzles that always occur in this kind of works. Some situations that, as happened in the previous installment, have seemed somewhat irregular in several aspects, from their level of difficulty and logic to their originality in their approach, although in general they have a more than acceptable level. Of course, you will surely get stuck with almost total probability in one or two quite complex puzzles and without much logic …
Exploring the scenarios is essential to collect a good number of objects.
The pace at which the game develops is, as is usual in these cases, very slow, with a multitude of prolonged dialogues and situations that require us to stop to give a thought, even being necessary to retrace our steps on various occasions. A very traditional gameplayin this sense, which will surely attract the followers of the genre and not so much the rest of the users. What is indisputably attractive is its visual finish. The backgrounds are very varied, they have been recreated with considerable detail and are appreciated with great clarity. Some sets in which characters of all kinds can be seen that enjoy an aesthetic that we have found very successful. A remarkable technical facet to which pleasant melodies are added and that do not become heavy with the passage of time, a fairly good English dubbing and varied effects.
The graphic quality of this work is at a very remarkable level, highlighting the variety of rooms that we can visit.
An interesting graphic adventure
Although it is true that it may be too continuous, Larry’s new odyssey is still very attractive, at least for those who enjoy traditional point and click adventures . The gameplay follows the pattern set in this genre since time immemorial, the staging is very attractive and the humor works perfectly in most cases. Perhaps the most objectionable has to do with the recreation of certain riddles that must be overcome in order to advance, which in very specific cases can be somewhat confusing and difficult to devise. But, for the rest, we insist that it is a more than worthy representative of graphic adventures and the saga itself.
