Legion Commander Dota 2: Hero Guide

Legion Commander is a character that is usually seen in the offlane on the 3rd position. Often, this hero is able to turn the outcome of a fight and help at the most necessary moment. Playing Legion is quite simple, if you understand the basic principles of the game. In the current meta, there must be someone in the game who will absorb most of the damage, and players who do not understand this are increasingly trying to collect Legion in damage, and this is the most basic mistake.

Pros and Cons of Legion Commander Character

Let’s consider the pros and cons of this character.

Pros:
1) Excellent lane. Legionka stands the lane very well, even if she is up against heroes with a ranged attack type. Due to copies, counter-attacks and constant healing, she can calmly farm without losing much health.
2) Legion Commander is an excellent disabler. Her second skill has a dispel that can be used both on herself and on allies, saving them, it would seem, in critical situations.
3) Good late potential. Thanks to her ult, which allows her to gain additional damage, in the late stage of the game Legionka is able to deal with any enemy character in just a couple of hits.

Disadvantages:
1) Very low agility gain. Because of this, Legion faces problems with attack speed and low armor throughout the game. This can only be compensated for with items.
2) Countered by a large pool of heroes and artifacts. For example, Outworld Destroyer and Bane are a complete counter to Legion, as they can save their allies from imminent death in a duel. Of the artifacts: Linken’s Sphere, Ghost Scepter or Heaven’s Halberd.
3) No stuns. Apart from her ult, there is no control, so it is very difficult to kill anyone at the start of the game.

Legion Commander Dota 2 Tactics

Initial stage of the game

Of course, you should go to the offlane. We try to knock out as many consumables from opponents as possible, using the 1st skill. Finishing off creeps is not so important, since Legionka does it very well in the forest, but it is still necessary. Since the reserve of maximum health is quite large, you should not be afraid to exchange with the enemy for HP, because it can always be replenished with your abilities. Upon receiving the 6th level, we try to kill the most delicate enemies in a duel, since its duration at the 1st level of pumping is only 4 seconds. From artifacts, you need to buy Magic Wand, Soul Ring and Phase Boots, and then set the goal of buying Blink Dagger as quickly as possible. Standing on the line, we maximize the first ability, taking the rest in one, since spears help the player farm from afar, while causing damage to enemies. If the line turned out to be difficult, then we move to the forest, maxing out the 1st and 2nd abilities.

Mid-game

After receiving Blink Dagger, you no longer need to constantly hit creeps, but on the contrary, you should start playing actively. By moving around the map with someone from the team, you can earn a lot of damage from duels, which will then help you quickly turn off any hero from the fight. Now we focus on the second ability, pumping it to the maximum, after which we acquire a shard and try to help ourselves and our allies with this skill. Since our task is to absorb a lot, and there is not much armor, it is worth taking a closer look at the artifacts that give it. Most often, the choice falls on Blade Mail and Assault Cuirass. Cuirass is generally almost the best item on Lega, since it gives a lot of armor and attack speed, and the enemies’ armor is reduced. From neutral things, we take those that give some resistance to physical and magical attacks in order to live even longer.

Late game

Here, your positioning is important, since the outcome of the fight may depend on it. We try not to go forward, but on the contrary, stay behind everyone, or better yet, hide in the bushes or invisibility. If necessary, jump on a blink and save an ally, knocking off all negative effects with the 2nd ability. In this case, you need to give a duel to the one who causes the most problems in fights, most often these are core characters. You should not lose duels, so use the ult only in the presence of the team. The choice of artifacts here is situational, but most often players take these things: Overwhelming Blink, Lotus Orb, Satanic and Abyssal Blade. All these items in one way or another increase the hero’s armor and health, so they are 100% suitable.

Talents

As for talents, everything is quite simple, at 10th in 100 out of 100 cases we take the range of the duel. At 15th, it is advisable to take +40 to health recovery from the 2nd ability, since in the late game the alternative talent will be much worse than this. At 20th, it is situational, since both talents are quite good, so we choose to taste. But at 25th, the most controversial choice. As was said earlier, many players do not understand the essence of the offlane, so they take +30 to damage from the duel, but it will be much better for the team if you take another talent.

Hero Combinations

All characters that can deal a lot of damage in a short period of time are suitable for Legion, like Invoker, Zeus or Snapfire. But there are also the most successful hero combinations, for example Legion Commander + Grimstroke. Thanks to Grim’s ult, you can win 2 duels at once by using it on one enemy. Legion Commander + Lifestealer – this combination also works flawlessly for several patches. Lifestealer gets into Legion with the help of the ult, and after using the duel, he unexpectedly gets out and helps his ally.

Conclusion

Legion Commander is one of the best offlaners in the current meta, as in addition to good stats, he also has a dispel with a built-in BKB effect. The hero is great for both newbies and “old” players, captivating with his simplicity in execution. The most important thing to know and remember is that you should not try to gather in a core, as there are already heroes in the game for this, but whether someone will be able to stand in the front lines and absorb enemy damage is a good question.
