Mass or General
This type is directed toward a large, general audience and thus has articles, more nonfiction than fiction, that appeal to the masses. It has two distinguishing characteristics: a large circulation, and an appeal to people at many levels in society…. people with diverse educational backgrounds, incomes, position, religions and heritages General magazines have “across -the board” appeal.
Among the best known mass or general magazines in the United States today are T V. guide and the Reader’s Digest Reader’s Digest has the largest circulation in the world.
Class or Literary
Sometimes class magazines are called quality or literary magazines because their content appeals to a much better educated persons than the average reader of mass magazine and articles are of rather high literary quality.
The content is almost exclusively in the areas of public affairs, literature and art. Despite their much smaller circulation, the influence of these magazines is thought to be great-because so many readers are opinion leaders.
Specialized
These magazines are aimed at a distinctive readership Those who read Popular Mechanics for- example, share an interest in mechanics and popular science. Those who read psychology today have an interest in human behaviour.Mechanics and popular photography, border on the size of mass magazines.More magazines are included in this category than in any other. Many are published by or for companies, industries, business, associations, and professions.
Weekly magazines
Weekly magazines are those that are published after an interval of one week. The dailies have timely material but the weekly magazines have material of permanent nature. In the present busy age, the individuals who cannot read the newspaper, they, after a week, get the total impression of all these things by reading these magazines.
Monthly Magazines
Monthly magazines are those that are published after an interval of one month They include literary, political, social magazines and digest.
The question arises why the digest magazines are so popular, inspite of the fact that they have no pictures The people want interesting material in the form of magazine They want material that satisfies every taste When the people see the literary magazines, they find the some view-point in them. It contains a few short stories, lyrics and critical essays.

When Pakistan came into existence, these magazines were published in large number in special circles and thus they are performing their duty.
