He was born on March 25, 1931 in Santiago de Chile , Chile .

He studied Architecture at the University of Chile in Santiago, where he was a student of Juan Martinez Gutiérrez and Roberto Dávila. He received his architecture degree in 1956 , a career he pursued for more than twenty years in the city of Concepción .

Married to Carmen Estela Wernekinck Armstrong. He has three children: Verónica Labarca Wernekinck, Rodrigo Labarca Wernekinck and Jimena Labarca Wernekinck.

Trajectory

In 1980 , he decided to retire from the architect’s office that he shared with two associated colleagues, to dedicate himself exclusively to painting, an artistic activity that he had begun to cultivate during his time at the university, in courses with Camilo Mori and Sergio Montecino .

Representative artists of the eighth region, Jorge Labarca has carried out teaching activities at the School of Architecture of the University of Biobío , has produced art programs for television and has given talks on the subject at various institutes and artistic events in the area.
