It Takes Two: Where to Find All Minigames

Throughout May and Cody’s journey, you’ll come across purple tambourines with ribbons hanging down in mid-air. You’ll probably even hear them before you see them. Follow the sound to discover one of 25 mini-games. All of these mini-games are an added bonus and a great way to unwind after a stressful day of leveling. There are no rewards for winning the mini-games, other than the feeling of having beaten your co-op partner. You can play them as many times as you like. Each mini-game takes no more than a minute to complete, and the rules are often as simple as pressing one or two buttons (keys) at the right time.

All mini-games in the chapter “Barn”

Hit Cody

You can find this mini-game halfway through the Underground level. Luckily, it’s impossible to miss, as Dr. Hakim will basically force you to play it himself. May will stand on a box and wield a hammer, and Cody must enter the box. This will start a familiar game of whack-a-mole. Only Cody will be the mole, and May will be the player with the hammer. May must aim with the analogs to Cody and hit by pressing R2 (below is an example of the controls for the game on PlayStation 4). For each hit, the girl will receive 2 points. At the same time, Cody will receive 1 point every time he stays on the surface for a little more than half a second, and May does not hit him. The first one to fill the bar at the top of the screen wins.

Nail and hammer

This minigame can be found shortly after you battle Mae and Cody in the “Whack Cody” game described above. After the first minigame, there will be one puzzle. When you leave the challenge area, go to the right, along the path, until you see a tambourine in the distance, hovering over a large metal circle. Interact with it. Cody must stand on a small square platform with a yellow circle inside, and Mae must hit the yellow circle in front of her. Cody will rise into the air, formally starting the minigame. Mae must then run from one target to another, attacking them with her hammer. At the same time, Cody must aim at these targets and hit them with throwing nails. The first one to fill up their point bar wins.

All mini-games in the chapter “Tree”

Tug of war

About a third of the way through the tree, you’ll end up at the top and bump into a soccer ball. Keep an eye on the far corner of this room, as there’s also a tambourine indicating a mini-game. To start it, Cody and May must grab onto opposite ends of a rope, and when the tug-of-war begins, press the triangle a few times. The one who presses the button faster will gradually pull their opponent toward the hole in the middle. When they fall down, the other player wins.

Plunger Avengers

When you reach the flying blue catfish at the very end of the level, after moving on a huge fish, you will see a tambourine of another mini-game. To play it, both characters must interact with weapons on both sides of the tunnel. Each player must aim with the right analog and shoot with R2. By holding the trigger, you can reload. You need to shoot at those targets that are turned towards you to invert them and direct them towards your opponent. You get a point every time the target falls on the enemy’s side. Or he gets points for the fact that the target falls on your side. The winner is the one with more points after 60 seconds.

All minigames in the chapter “Rose’s Room”

Supertankers

When the chapter starts, in the Pillow Fortress level in Rose’s Room, go forward and turn off the main path to reach the minigame tambourine. To start the minigame, interact with the remotes lying on the ground near the tambourine. Each of you will control a tank. The goal is to hit the enemy three times. Move the tank with the right analog, focusing on the small white circle on the ground, which indicates the place where you will shoot. The R2 button allows you to fire the cannon. The first one to hit the enemy three times wins.

Space Walk

After you activate the first robot on the next level, you can use the gravity lift to move up to a platform with three portals. As you fly up, notice that there is a hidden portal under the platform that leads to an area with a mini-game. If you see three portals at the top, then you need to go down a little lower. Press the “triangle” while standing on the small squares near the tambourine. The game will begin. Basically, you need to jump on cubes flying in a circle. For each cube, you will get a point. You can jump on a cube that your opponent has already activated to take a point from him. The winner is the one with the most points after 60 seconds.

Laser Tennis

Similar to the previous mini-game, this one can be found under the platform with three portals, but on a higher level. Once you complete the challenges behind the three portals, you can activate the gravity lift and go even higher. This path leads to a platform with three more portals. Underneath it, there is a hidden niche with a portal leading to a tambourine (mini-game). To start the game, interact with the devices ahead. There are a bunch of squares on the ground. When one of them lights up, step on it. This will send a laser towards the enemy. He must jump over this laser. Send as many lasers at the enemy as you can. Create real chaos on his half of the field. The player whose gauge is depleted first loses.

Rodeo

To find this mini-game, go to the beginning of the Classics chapter in Rose’s Room. Jump on the blocks to get to a small square area with a carpet on the ground. In the corner is a tambourine. To start the mini-game, both Cody and May must press the triangle to interact with different bulls. When it starts, the bulls will try to throw the characters off their saddles. Buttons will appear above the characters’ heads. Press these buttons when the yellow ring closes in on the white. If the button turns green, you did it in time, red – you are one step closer to failing (falling off the bull).

Feed the reptile

To find the mini-game, in the Classics chapter, look for a hidden mini-game after riding the animal rails. Instead of going up the yellow beams, go down the green path at the bottom and find reptile heads on the wall. Both players must press the triangle. Grab the ball with the triangle and throw it into the mouth of any reptile by pressing R2. Aim with the analogs. The one with the most points after 30 seconds wins. Note that each mouth is worth a different number of points – from 1 to 3.

Table baseball

This minigame can be found after you find the sketch in the “Classics” chapter. Jump on the path of floating blocks and look for a baseball field on the right side. Interact with the characters with baseball bats. To win, you need to press the “triangle” at the right time when the baseball flies past your batter. The winner is the one who has the most points after 60 seconds.

Singing Star

This mini-game can be found shortly after the start of the level “In a Distant Kingdom”. When you arrive at the location, you will see the castle gate. Go inside and you will find yourself in a square. On the left is a large TV. This is the mini-game. In fact, in front of you is Guitar Hero. Buttons will fall down, and you need to press them at the moments when they fall into the white rings. For each successful hit, you get a point. And the one who scores more points after 60 seconds has passed wins.

All mini-games in the chapter “Cuckoo Clock”

Bomb Run

Once you reach the village with the chapel, you will need to solve several puzzles to help the wooden dolls get through the location. They will move past the gazebo where people are dancing. Follow the rails and pay attention to the houses on the left. There is a square hole in the wall. Go inside and turn right to find a tambourine for a mini-game. To play it, May and Cody must press the “triangle” near the tambourine. Bombs will appear on the character’s backs. Your task is to run forward, touching all the checkpoints that increase the timer. You lose if the timer runs out (the bomb explodes) or your opponent reaches the finish line first.

Horse racing

Another mini-game in the village with a chapel. Find a pond with fishing rods. To the right of them is a corral with horses. Interact with the tambourine and mount any horse. After the game starts, press the “cross” to jump over obstacles, and use the left analog to go under high barriers. The winner is the one who gets to the finish line first.

All minigames in the chapter “Snow Globe”

Throwing icicles

To find this minigame, you need to melt the ice in the winter village using the first bell on the left. Ring it and the ice will melt. Below you will find a large booth for throwing icicles. Interact. Aim with the left analog and shoot with R2. Throw icicles at the targets to score points. The winner is the one who has the most points after 60 seconds. To get two points at a time, you need to throw icicles at the targets so that they pass through the circle.

Shuffleboard

To play this game, you need to melt the ice in the middle of the winter village. Hit the bell at the top, then look at the big building. Go inside to find a tambourine. The entrance is next to the big Ferris wheel. Pull the levers with both characters. The goal is to throw the stone so that it ends up as close to the edge of the cliff as possible. The closer, the more points you get. This is called curling. Each of you has three stones. The winner is the one who gets the most points in three tries. The farthest strip will allow you to earn 4 points at once!

Snow conflict

After melting the ice with the third bell tower, you will see flying birds. Grab one of them to move to a previously inaccessible part of the city. During the flight, you should notice an arena for playing snowballs. It is illuminated with bright lights. Come close and go inside. There is a tambourine here. Stand on the blue and red platforms with snowfields. The battle will begin. L2 is used to aim, and R2 is used to throw. Do not forget to replenish ammunition from the pile of snowballs. The winner is the one who hits the enemy first 5 times.

Ice racing

Before you turn the key, look for the ice racing starting line. Interact with it, then race around the track. The first one to cross the finish line after three full laps wins. Green rings increase your speed, but don’t forget to drive through every yellow checkpoint.

All mini games in the chapter “Garden”

Garden swing

When the Weeding section begins, look for some stone steps to the right. Climb them and find a tambourine. Interact with both characters on the swing. Use the left analog to swing, then press it to jump forward. The one who flies the farthest wins.

Basketball with larvae

When you get to a large meadow with mushrooms in the garden, look to the left (although you need to go through the passage on the right). There will be a stone path with mushrooms. Climb up it and you will find yourself at a large stone pillar. Interact with this place. The tower will start rotating and you will see a bunch of bugs crawling out of it. Jump to the “cross” and you will see a yellow line indicating where your character is aiming. Press “square” to throw food at the bugs. You need to control the height of the jump. You will get a point for each successful hit. The one who has more of these points after 60 seconds wins.

Snail racing

After rolling along the vines in the Frog Pond section, you’ll find yourself in a new part of the level. Go forward and you’ll see a large wooden box. Climb up the rocks next to it to find yourself inside. There’ll be a tambourine here. Use the left analog, then press and hold square to shrink. Release it to make the snail speed up by dashing forward. Use the left stick to steer it. You’ll have to avoid some obstacles! The first one to cross the finish line wins.

All mini-games in the chapter “Attic”

Track machines

When the Attic chapter starts, walk along the red carpet and look to the right where the race track is. Interact with the controls. To win, you need to cross the finish line first. Use R2 to accelerate. You don’t need to control the direction of the car. Slow down on turns so that the car doesn’t fly off the track. Otherwise, everything will be fine.

Chess

After you complete the first part of the concert preparation, return to the main room of the attic. The path will open further. Go along the new carpet and you will see a chessboard in front of you. All you have to do is play chess. If you set it to “Short Game”, then each of you will have 5 minutes to make all your moves. You will lose if you run out of time first, or if you checkmate your opponent.

Musical chair

To the left of the chessboard, there is a path of books that leads to an area above a sparkling door (Symphony level). Go up the path, jump over the gap on the left or use the railing to reach a small radio with a chair. Interact with this chair. The music will start. Listen to it and be ready to press the “circle” as soon as it stops to be the first to sit on the chair. The first one to do this three times wins.

Volleyball

When you reach the Symphony level, you will see an orchestra pit. Look down to find a volleyball court on a cloud. Cody and May must stand on opposite sides of the line and press the triangle. Do not let the ball touch your side of the court and try to make it land on your opponent’s side. The first one to 12 points wins.

Treadmill

After the Symphony section, you’ll find yourself back in the central room. Follow the new carpet until you see two arcade machines on the right. Approach them, interact with them, and the game will begin. Run forward and use the left analog to jump from one lane to another. The cross button will allow you to jump over obstacles. The first one to reach the finish line wins.
