Activate a lock method on the iPhone
iPhone, like many other smartphones, has several possibilities to lock the device and protect your data. There are also different modes available depending on the device in possession. On iPhones with a home button, the “Touch ID” (fingerprint) is preferred , while on those without a home button we find the “Face ID” (3D facial recognition).
All this can be customized within the system settings. Let’s see how to do it right away.
- Open the “Settings” app
- Continue with “Face ID and passcode” / “Touch ID and passcode”
- If active, enter the iPhone passcode
At this point, several options will appear to modify (or possibly add) up to two unlocking methods: the one with a code and the one via Touch ID / Face ID .
In the first case, to start the configuration, click on “Activate the code” (or “Change the code”) and enter the preferred key combination. In fact, you can choose between: 4-digit numeric, 6-digit numeric or alphanumeric code without a fixed number of characters.
In the case of the Touch ID you can enter up to 5 different fingers (even of more people), while for the Face ID you can configure only one face plus an “alternative aspect” , in the event that there are problems with unlocking in certain cases (excessive makeup, oversized glasses or other).
Going further down in the same settings screen, you can decide which information will be displayed even when the screen is locked, or whether to initialize the entire contents of the iPhone after 10 incorrect password attempts.
Set up automatic screen lock on iPhone
The first thing to configure in relation to the lock screen is obviously its automatic activation. That way, you don’t have to worry about doing it manually. In reality, this function is already active by default, but it can be modified according to your preferences.
- Open the “settings” app
- Continue with “Display and brightness”
- Click on “Automatic block”
- Choose after how many seconds / minutes the screen lock will appear (never to deactivate the automatic lock)
Under “Automatic lock” , you can also activate the “Raise to activate” function , useful for avoiding clicking on the screen or on the power button to access the lockscreen.
Access iPhone features from the lock screen
As mentioned above, in addition to viewing and interacting with notifications, the lock screen turns out to be a great shortcut to dozens of different features. Swiping your finger from right to left will access the camera, while swiping from left to right will display the widget screen.

Clicking on the button at the bottom left will activate the flashlight, swiping your finger from the bottom up (starting from the center and not from the bottom edge) you will access the notification center, while swiping from top to bottom starting from the top corner top right will open the control center.

Just like the control center functions, notifications can also be selected to appear on the lock screen or not.

- Click on “Notifications”
- Select the relevant app
- Activate or deactivate the “Screen lock” item
By clicking on “Show previews” , it will be possible to change the security level of the display of the same notifications. Choosing “Always” will always show, “When unlocked” only for viewing after unlocking the iPhone and “Never” to always keep them hidden.
Activate the “Good morning” screen
The good morning screen is very useful to have at a glance some basic information to start the day. In addition to the classic timetable, a brief overview of the current weather and that of the day will be displayed. To let this happen, you will have to basically open the “Weather” app and allow the use of the location, so that it can obtain the data of the city in which we are. Immediately after, you will need to program the “Do Not Disturb” mode .
