iPhone 13: models, prices, features and news.Apple has announced iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max: improved autonomy and new photographic functions.
After days of waiting, one of the most anticipated events of the year took place yesterday. Apple has announced the new generation of iPhone 13 accompanied by the new iPad , Apple Watch and the new Fitness + service (which will also arrive in Italy). There are four models: iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max and the prices do not change compared to the previous generation, which is halved from the catalog ( iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini remain ). There is no real revolution, it seems like a passing generation, but there is no shortage of novelties that are mainly under the body: new functions for the camera, improved displays, new colors and a more powerful processor.
iPhone 13 Mini and iPhone 13
Like last year, the difference is in the display size: 5.4 inches for the Mini and 6.1 inches for the iPhone 13 . The processor is the same as the older brothers: the new A15-Bionic that improves everything as it should be. Via the 64 GB version of internal memory: it starts from 128 GB and reaches 512 GB; there is 5G support, but no reference to satellite networks, as anticipated by rumors.
Small aesthetic changes: the notch is still present but is now smaller and the cameras (two 12 MP sensors) are arranged diagonally and no longer vertically, as on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini . There is no shortage of photographic innovations: improved shots in every situation (night, macro, backlight), Smart HDR 4 support that recognizes up to four people in the scene by adjusting contrast, skin tones, lighting and more. In addition, optical image stabilization on the sensor is introduced, which made its debut on the iPhone 12 Pro Max last year.
Among these, Cinematic Mode deserves a separate mention, which transforms all of us into directors : it is a function that allows us to focus on the subject in videos by blurring the background and it does so automatically and dynamically. This means that if there are two characters on the scene, when the person in the foreground speaks the focus will be on him, if he turns to the other person the focus passes on this second person. Plus, you can edit the result later in the Photos app or iMovie for iOS (later on iMovie for macOS and in Final Cut Pro), a first! Videos can be recorded up to 4K resolution at 60 fps.
Improves autonomy according to Apple : iPhone 13 lasts 2.5 hours longer than iPhone 12; iPhone 13 Mini lasts 1.5 hours longer than iPhone 12 Mini, but this data will then be analyzed in the test phase.
There are five colors available: pink, light blue, midnight (black), galaxy (white) and red (Product Red).
iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max
The shell of the top models is made of stainless steel, which makes them heavier than the base models. Improves the display that introduces the ProMotion technology as in the iPad Pro: the refresh rate rises to 120 Hz and automatically adapts to the content you are viewing, thus optimizing energy consumption. Again, Apple talks about the same increase in autonomy: 2.5 hours more for iPhone 13 Pro Max and 1.5 hours more for iPhone 13 Pro. The two differ in the size of the display: 6.7 inches for the first and 6.1 inches for the second; the processor is still the new A15-Bionic and the internal memory can reach up to 1 Terabyte .
Contrary to last year, there are no photographic differences between the two. The sensors, however, have improved, present the optical stabilization of the image on the sensor (and not on the lens) , this allows more stable results even with not very steady hands. Macro photography arrives up to 2 cm and also in videos through the ultra-wide-angle sensor, it is also possible to photograph the starry sky with the astrography function and the telephoto lens with improved zoom (3X) is not missing.
Four colors are available: graphite, silver, gold and the brand new Sierra Blue.
