If God knows everything and needs nothing, why did He create humans?

Question Detail

– So he knows everything, and what will happen if he creates it. So why did he create us humans, who can also suffer, even though he knew this?
– If God knows all this, why, for example, did He allow a child to endure the pain he felt when he lost his father?
– Is this pain unimportant to him or can he not understand the child’s pain?
– Why did he feel the need to create something? Why did God do this?

Our dear brother,

A person who looks at the universe and the activities within it can see that God does not need anything.  Let’s think about what the universe lacked before we came to this world, and we completed it after we came.  Or what do we do with our worship that any need of God is seen?

Allah knows everything perfectly.  But knowing this does not mean that he directs us.  Because His knowledge is eternal. In other words, he observes the past, future and present at the same time. And everyone knows in conscience that I can do and talk what I want and not do what I don’t want. According to this rule, God knows what we do. But we also know in conscience and mind that what we do is with our will.

God created us to know Him and to worship Him in a way worthy of Him. He also created the tools and devices to fulfill this duty. In other words, the things required from us and the capital to meet them are in balance. All people of fairness and conscience know that there is no injustice here. However, if God does not ask us when He creates us, it means completely restricting God’s will.

However, with the consensus of our scholars, it is  “Allah, la yusel” .  In other words, he will not be questioned about his actions.  But no one can say anything about what he does or creates in the universe is unwise or unjust. Because there is no situation in the universe that would be unwise or absurd. Scientists who thoroughly investigate the entire universe are astonished by this divine wisdom.

One of the many reasons why God created man  is worship . Because:

1.  Allah created man for testing. It is certain that this wisdom could not exist without the creation of man.

2.  God wants to see His beauty and perfection, which He manifests in the universe, both for Himself  – in a way unique to Himself –  and through the eyes of others. When it comes to seeing someone else, the first thing that comes first is people. This wisdom also necessitates the creation of human beings.

3.  He created it for worship. Someone who exists is required for this wisdom to be fulfilled. It is not possible for worship to be fulfilled without creation. Our place in heaven is prepared according to the amount of worship we do here.

4.  To declare that Allah is greater than everything and to spread the commands of Allah. In order for this wisdom to be fulfilled, both the one who conveys it and the one to whom it is communicated must be created.

5.  Just as a seed must enter the soil to become a tree, a human being is sent to the field of the world to grow, mature and progress.

6.  If we were created in another world, then we would have to ask why we were created in this world. It can be said that we were sent here because this is the most perfect examination hall for humans.

Of course, unwise actions and deeds that cannot be found in the entire universe cannot be found in Sharia either. In other words, God does not burden us with tasks that we cannot bear. Allah, who imposes duties on all animals, plants and inanimate objects, will of course impose some duties on us as well. Otherwise, the wisdom present in the entire universe would be meaningless for humans. Allah, who does not have any futility or ugliness in anything He does and who is free from such things, must of course impose on people a burden that they can bear.

The lifespan of the universe is expressed in billions of years; The lifespan of the human world is expressed as a thousand years. The news given in this sacred hadith, before the human species was created, was primarily looking at the angelic world. These holy beings, who knew Allah, contemplated and contemplated His works, and were far from rebelling against Him, realized the news given in the sacred hadith through their worship, glorification, obedience, knowledge and love. The animal kingdom lived a life in full accordance with the purpose of their creation, and they resembled angels in terms of their souls. The plant kingdom and inanimate beings also performed their duties with perfect obedience.

“There is nothing that does not glorify Allah and praise Him…”  (Isra, 17/44)

The term “thing” in the verse above   includes every living and non-living being. Everything glorifies Him and praises Him.

God Almighty decreed to create another being capable of performing all these glorifications and worships to a much higher level: This sublime being was the human being who would be the caliph of the earth. When God Almighty informed the angels that He would create a human being from soil, a question similar to the one above came from the angels, and in response they  were told , “You cannot know what I know.”

These new guests, who were put to the test and who would surpass the angels if they passed, were created only to worship Allah, as stated in the verse.

“I created jinn and humans only to worship Me.”  (Zariyat, 51/56)

Considering that many tafsir scholars  gave the meaning of ” knowledge” to the word ”  worship  ” in the verse  , it was understood that this person had a duty to know Allah, to know His existence and unity, to believe in the infinity of His attributes, and to contemplate and contemplate the created world with the eye of wisdom and lesson.

This distinguished creature would not only be subjected to the manifestations of beauty, but would also be subjected to separate tests with both the manifestations of beauty and majesty of God Almighty.

As a matter of fact, it happened and continues like that. Blessings, gifts, treats, beauties, health, well-being, relief, etc. are all manifestations of beauty. And human beings are faced with the choice of whether to be grateful or not. Unfortunately, due to the dominance of the soul and the devil, most people are intoxicated with the manifestations of beauty and cannot pass this test.

The other aspect of the test is the manifestations of majesty such as illness, calamity, trouble, disaster, death… And ultimately, being subjected to the test of patience, trust, submission, consent. Even though the mind thinks otherwise, the truth is that there are many more people who pass this exam than the winners.

The wisdom in this must be this: Calamities and diseases remind people very well that they are slaves and helpless beings, and they teach them a lesson. A sentence from Nur that will shed light on our subject:

“The All-Wise Creator has included in the spiritual nature of man an infinitely great impotence and an infinite poverty. So that it can become a comprehensive mirror for the infinite manifestations of a Being whose power is infinitely All-Merciful and whose generosity is infinitely Generous.” .” (Words, Twenty-Third Word)

Man, who was created for worship and knowledge, will feel his helplessness and poverty in order to advance in this valley, will constantly seek refuge in his Lord and ask for help from Him. He will not refrain from praying and will try to find peace. These are possible with all kinds of calamities, diseases, despair and troubles in worldly life, especially the soul and the devil, that lead people to seek help and seek refuge.

Souls who remain in despair and seek refuge in their Lord receive a positive score in passing the test of this world. However, in manifestations such as prosperity, health and happiness, human beings, instead of understanding their helplessness, can become enchanted by them, forget that they are servants and fall into heedlessness.

Another very important aspect of the subject is this: When it comes to Marifetullah, that is, knowing Allah, it is necessary to take into account all the names and attributes; Not just cemali names.

Just as Allah is the Most Merciful, He is also the Almighty. He is the one who makes you taste the glory and the one who makes you suffer the humiliation. If only the collective names were manifested in this world and man only had contact with them, his knowledge would be incomplete. In this arena of testing, human beings have to recognize Allah with both His attributes of majesty and beauty. In the afterlife, the roads will part. Some of the people will enter heaven as a reward for their worship, sincerity, good deeds and good morals, and will experience many manifestations of beauty such as grace, generosity and beneficence, to the maximum extent and forever. Those who fall into misguidance and debauchery by following the path of disbelief and polytheism will encounter the manifestations of majesty, dignity and sorrow. Thus, in the abode of the hereafter, both the beauty and majesty of Allah’s names will be manifested in the most advanced sense.

There is a prayer sentence in the Nur Collection:

“Show us the origins and sources of the samples and shadows you showed us.”  (Words, Tenth Word)

Beings in this world experience a manifestation as weak as a shadow compared to the afterlife. And people who do what is necessary in this shadow life and try to do it justice, reach the real one.
