How to use Google Spaces, a group sharing app on Windows

Joining a social network or chat is a great way to share ideas with others. The more “social” the network becomes, the larger the group of friends and contacts becomes. However, getting all your friends in one app can be challenging. This is where Google’s whitespace comes into play . Google Spaces is a new messaging app that helps you build a better group and share experiences by bringing people together instantly.

Spaces from Google

The Google Spaces app makes the task of finding and posting important articles, videos and images pretty easy without ever leaving the app. This is made possible by the integration of all applications – search, YouTube and Chrome within the application.

You can create a Space on any topic that interests you by simply selecting it and inviting someone through messaging, email, social networking.

To create a space, click the Create Space button .

Then invite your friends via Facebook or write a letter. The best part of the app is that it doesn’t require registration. You can simply use your regular, shared Google password to participate in Spaces conversations .

After creating the space, two main types are proposed:

  1. View from space. Has a chat appearance. On the desktop version, it can be seen on the left side of the screen, and messages and comments are displayed as round bubbles.
  2. Activity stream. This view is very similar to the Twitter app. In the desktop version, the view occupies the right side of the screen. Unlike the desktop version of the view, which requires regular updates, the mobile version is automatically updated without any action on your part.

If you want to share a link with an important message or add a picture, select the corresponding icon visible at the bottom of the screen.

When someone shares something new with a space you’ve created, the dialog view lets you test out the design without having to move anywhere.

If you want to access any post you shared earlier, a quick search in the top corner of the screen is for you. It can be pulled up in a snap.

Google’s launch received more criticism than enthusiasm. Possibly since it already has services like Google+, hangouts and social features across many of its other services like YouTube.

Spaces are available across platforms such as Windows Desktop, Android and iOS. Try and create your first space today. Go here to get started.
