How to use a Fortnite account linked to PlayStation 4 on Nintendo Switch or Xbox One

Today we are going to explain how to use a Fortnite account linked to PlayStation 4 on Nintendo Switch or Xbox One . Now that Sony has enabled cross-play mode in Fortnite and allows you to unify the accounts of one platform on another , it is a good time for you to use the account you have on the rest of the consoles. The process to do so is done directly from the Epic Games website.

First we are going to explain how to unlink your current Fortnite account if you have it on the Nintendo Switch, something that you can also do on the Xbox One, a first step that you can skip if you have not been using Fortnite on those consoles with another account. And then we will go directly to explain the process to link an account that you already used in PlayStation on your Nintendo or Microsoft console.

A notice before unlinking accounts

If you already have another account linked on your Nintendo Switch or Xbox One, before starting this tutorial you have to keep something important in mind. For a few months you will not be able to correctly unlink the Epic Games accounts that you have linked through the game from these consoles, so if you do, you will lose all the data of the other account that you used on the Switch or Xbox One.

This can be a problem if you have been using two accounts, one for each console, especially if you have been spending money on both of them making in-game purchases. There can only be one linked account on the console, so to use the PlayStation account you first have to remove the Switch or Xbox one, and when you go to do it will be when you are notified that you are going to lose your data.

Epic Games is working on a mechanic to unlink your account from any console without this happening, so if you’ve been spending money within a secondary account on Switch or Xbox, you might want to wait. However, if this is not your case, you do not mind losing what you have invested, or you do not directly have any linked account on Switch or Xbox, then we will tell you everything you have to do.

Step 1: Unlink Sub Accounts from Switch and Xbox One

The first thing you have to do to be able to link your Fortnite account from PlayStation on another console is to unlink the other accounts from the game that you may have on these. To do this, go to the Epic Games website , and start the session that you want to unlink from your Switch or Xbox One by pressing the Sign in button .

Once you have logged in, you will return to the Epic Games website. Now, click on your profile name (1) in the upper bar where the option to log in was previously, and when the drop-down menu appears, click on the Account option (2) to access your profile and your account settings .

Once you are in your profile, in the left column, click on the Connected Accounts category (1). This will take you to a screen where you will see all the accounts that you have linked to the Epic account, such as the PlayStation Network or the Nintendo Switch. What you have to do now is click on the Disconnect option (2) of the Nintendo Switch or Xbox One that you want to leave free to use the PlayStation 4 account.

Now you only have to check the three notification boxes and press the Unlink button to unlink your account from the console. The boxes or consequences of unlinking the account depend on each platform, but both in the case of the Switch and the Xbox One you will be warned that you will lose everything you have made in the account, both the progress and the purchases you have made .

Step 2: Link the account you use on PlayStation 4 on your Switch and Xbox One

Now you have to close any session you have open and log in with the Fortnite account that you use on your PlayStation . For that, again press the Login button that you have on the top bar.

This will take you to a screen where you will see all the accounts you have linked to your Epic account, such as the PlayStation Network. What you have to do now is click on the Connect option of the console to which you want to link this account (2), such as the Nintendo Switch or Xbox One.

Now, the Epic Games website will notify you that you are going to log in with your Nintendo or Microsoft account. On this page, press the Link account button , and Epic Games will automatically redirect you to the service’s website.

Once you are redirected to the page of the console service to which you want to link the account, you only have to log in with the account you use in it . To do this, use the Login button and enter your credentials. Once you have logged in, your console will be linked to the same account that you have been using on the PlayStation 4.

Soon you will be able to merge accounts

As we have told you, if you unlink an account from the Nintendo Switch or Xbox One right now, you may lose everything you have done or bought so far. However, Epic Games is already working on a fix . For the month of November, the company assures that it will implement a method to combine accounts, so that you can merge your advances in two different accounts, making them one.

In addition, the developer has also ensured that in the coming days it will add a system that will allow you to unlink an account from a device and re-link it to any other without losing anything. Therefore, if you have been using a secondary account on the Nintendo Switch or Xbox One, it is best to wait a few weeks before unlinking it unless you do not have great advances or purchases to lose.
