One of the weekly challenges in Fortnite for Chapter 2, Season 3, Week 5 involves using a Firefly Jar or Flare Gun to Misty Meadows. Misty Meadows is easy to find, as it’s a name located on the map, but finding a Firefly jar or flare gun can be a little more awkward.
After spending a few games in Misty Meadows and looting everything we could find, it’s a lot easier to find Flare Guns here than Firefly Jars.
How to get a jar of Firefly
The main way to find fireflies is to keep your eyes peeled as you run around the map and play. Fireflies can randomly spawn near trees and bonfires and you should be able to spot them as they will emit a soft, warm glow over the surrounding area.
When you find them, run and interact with them and you will grab them in the air and create a Firefly vase. You can throw Firefly pots at enemies or structures. If you hit another player with them, they will deal 40 damage, and then proceed to deal tick damage if they remain in the flames. They will set fire to structures and eventually can burn a building or an opponent’s box.
How to get a flare gun
You can grab the flare gun from loot, blade, supplies or just randomly spawn on the ground, the same as any other weapon in the game. The flare gun will deal 60 damage to an enemy if you hit them. It has six shots when you pick it up and it will take 1.5 seconds to reload between shots. Interestingly, when you fire the last shot, the flare gun will disappear from your inventory, so it looks like there will be no additional ammo for flare guns.
The bullet itself is pretty slow so it should be easy enough to dodge, but it appears to have a blast radius when it explodes. It also doesn’t seem to set the cover on fire, so you won’t really be able to take out enemy box constructions as it will just take too long to remove the cover.
You just need to use the items in this area, the challenges didn’t see you having to cause damage to an opponent with them.
