How to update eMule servers

Find out how to update eMule servers step by step to increase the download possibilities on this P2P platform.

In this guide I’m going to explain the steps you need to follow to update the eMule servers . I’ve already explained what Emule is and what it’s for , so you can resolve all your doubts. Now I want to show you the steps to have the most recent list of servers and, in this way, be able to download faster and more safely. Don’t miss it!

Updating eMule servers step by step

eMule servers are a key part of the entire download process. It is true that, as such, the platform does not have a central server from which users will be able to find the files. Rather, it is a P2P (peer-to-peer) network that is completely decentralized . However, there needs to be a series of servers that index, classify and locate the content.

Thanks to the servers, eMule users will not be able to download files, but they will be able to find them. In addition, the client, that is, the program itself, will know which computers to download them from. Therefore, having an updated list increases the chances of being able to download files . Likewise, it allows you to use the P2P network more safely, avoiding corrupted or malicious files.

With this in mind, it is clear that it is necessary to keep the server list up to date. How to do this?

Update servers automatically

The first way to update eMule servers is to ask the program to do so every time it is started . This is a fairly simple procedure that you can complete in just a few clicks. This way, you will always have the most reliable servers and maximize your chances of being able to download a file.

In order to update eMule servers automatically, you need to have a list . If you do a search on the Internet, it is easy to find updated lists, all of them hosted on some public server. So, in order to add a list to eMule, you will have to locate a valid URL.

For my part, I have consulted the official forum of the eMule project, where a URL hosted on Gitlab is indicated that works perfectly. There I found the following address, which works very well:

http://emuling.gitlab.io/server.met

Once you have copied it to the clipboard, it is time to tell eMule that you want it to consult this list every time it is opened . The first step is to click on Preferences . Then, click on the Server section and check the option Auto-update server list on startup .

Next, click the Edit button . You’ll see that Notepad opens and a DAT file is loaded into it. It’s completely empty, so you don’t have to edit anything. All you have to do is paste the URL you copied earlier.

Once you have done this, save the changes so that eMule knows which source it should update the servers from.

When you return to the preferences window, in the same Server section , check the following options:

  • Autoconnect to fixed servers only
  • Use priority system
  • Assign high priority to manually added servers

Then, save the changes by pressing Apply and exit eMule completely. Make sure to close the program and prevent it from running in the background . When you restart it, you will see that the server list is different and is now updated. Connect to the server you prefer or start using eMule so that the program connects on its own.

Updating servers manually

Another possibility is to ask eMule to manually update the server list. In that case, you must go to the Servers section and enter the URL of the MET list in the text box that you see indicated in the image below. This is where it says Update server.met from URL .

Once you have pasted the URL, press Update to have eMule load the list of servers . Although this is a valid method, which may be useful in some cases, generally the best thing to do is to ask eMule to apply the update every time you open the program.

Add or remove servers

Finally, you should know that it is possible to edit the server list manually . The first way to do this is by removing any server from the list that you no longer want to use. Simply right-click on any of them and select one of these two options:

  • Delete selected server
  • Delete all servers

If you choose the second option, you will have to add a new server afterwards , since eMule will be left without any to consult. It is also possible to use this option to delete all outdated servers and add a new MET list.

To add a server , all you need is its IP address, connection port, and server name. Once you have this information, enter it in the sidebar and press the Add to List button .

The list of servers currently running, according to the project’s official forum, is as follows:

  • eMule Sunrise – 176.123.5.89 – 4725
  • eMule Security – 45.82.80.155 – 5687
  • GrupoTS Server – 145.239.2.134 – 4661
  • !! Sharing-Devils No.1!! – 91.208.162.87 – 4232
  • !! Sharing-Devils No.2!! – 85.239.33.123 – 4232
  • !! Sharing-Devils No.3!! – 91.208.162.55 – 4232
