Do you want to get the legendary horse Epona in your game of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Well, there’s only one way to unlock her, and we’ll tell you how!
Epona has been the horse par excellence in Link’s adventures for many years, and of course in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom this mare is once again available as a mount to gallop across Hyrule.
However… if you want to use Epona, you’re obviously going to have to get her first . And given how rare this horse is, there’s only one way to get Epona in your game. If you want to know how to unlock her , keep reading this entry in our complete guide where we show you how.
How to get Epona?
Epona can be obtained in your playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom almost from the beginning of the game, but unlike the rest of the horses, this mare does not appear anywhere in Hyrule for you to tame.
As in the previous game in the series, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild , Epona can only be obtained in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom through an Amiibo figure reward .
- Epona can be obtained by scanning the Link from Twilight Princess or Link from Super Smash Bros. Amiibo figure.
- Scanning one of these two figures for the first time in your game will guarantee Epona will appear .
- If you have both Amiibo figures, you can scan both to receive two Epona .
- Epona is a great mount with 4 stars in all its stats .
It is worth mentioning that if you have problems getting Epona to appear when scanning the Amiibo , it is advisable to move away from the area you are in. To avoid any inconvenience, it is preferable to summon Epona in a large, clear place where there are also other horses.
Likewise, we also reveal that if you previously played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and already had Epona in your game, you can meet her in the stables of Tears of the Kingdom thanks to the rewards for having a save file from the previous game in your account.
Register Epona so you don’t lose her
You should keep in mind that when you “summon” Epona through one of the two Amiibo mentioned, the mare will be domesticated , so you won’t have to tame her as you do with wild horses. You can simply approach her and start using her from that moment on.
However, it’s important to note that Epona can get lost once she appears. So, as soon as you unlock her with the Amiibo, we recommend that you immediately go and save her in the stable at one of the Hyrule Post Stations. Go to the nearest one and register Epona to keep her forever (you won’t be able to change her name, though).
