How to Unlock a Mastery Class in Last Epoch

Last Epoch is an action RPG with an exciting and rich system of development of your hero. By default, your adventure begins with the choice of one of five basic game classes. Each of them has unique skills, applied skills and general style of play. An important feature of development in Last Epoch is the possibility of subsequent acquisition of a mastery class – specialization, which opens up even more gameplay opportunities for you. In this guide, you will learn how to unlock specialization in Last Epoch.

Mastery classes in Last Epoch are unlocked after completing the main story and meeting a few requirements. These requirements may seem difficult, but the opportunities that open up to you with this upgrade will be worth it. Below you will find all the information you need about Mastery classes for all starting classes.

How to Unlock a Mastery Class in Last Epoch

Each base class can be further upgraded by choosing a specialization, which grants you additional abilities and effects. To unlock a Mastery class in Last Epoch, players will first need to reach the end of Chapter 2. At the end of the playthrough, they will have to successfully defeat the boss, Husk Elder Panion. After a fierce battle, they will be taken to the End Times, where they can accept a quest called “The Power of Mastery” from the Forgotten Knight.

After the dialogue with the knight, go to Elder Gaspar. To do this, go past the merchant and climb the magic staircase to the second floor. Talk to the character, who will tell you about new opportunities for your class. Once the dialogue is over, you will be asked to choose a mastery class.

Note that in order to select a specialization, you must invest at least 20 points into the base class passive skills, which you gain through quests and leveling up. You will have plenty of opportunities to gain these points in the first two chapters of the game, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble. However, if you find yourself short, you’ll have to play a few more levels to meet this requirement.

The specialization is chosen once and stays with your character forever, so it is a choice that should be taken seriously. In the future, you will not be able to change this decision, and to choose a different mastery class, you will have to create a new character. If you later want to change things up, you can refine and customize your build using the skill tree, which allows you to tailor your abilities to your preferences or playstyle with various upgrades.

All specs in Last Epoch

There are a total of 15 Mastery classes available in Last Epoch, with each base class having three specific Mastery classes to choose from. These three classes enhance specific skills or playstyles of each base class, and can be further customized through skill and node selection to push your build in a specific direction.

Specializations for the Guardian :

Strong in honor and fearsome in battle, the Guardian stands firm against injustice even at the ends of the earth.

  • The Void Knight is a sentinel who has absorbed a portion of the Void and uses it to destroy his enemies. His swings leave traces of the Void that greedily absorb the essence of his enemies, the darkness eating away at them from the inside.
  • The Blacksmith Champion – skill, strength, steel, and the knowledge that his training will lead to victory. His strikes are surer than hope, and his armor is stronger than despair – a steel bulwark whose mastery of weapons, armor, and molten metal dominates the battlefield.
  • Paladin – Where he is struck, light rises; where his allies cower, that light gives him the ability to lead. A righteous warrior, focused on supporting and healing his allies, capable of destroying enemies with holy fire.

Specializations for the Assassin :

An unrivaled marksman with both bow and blade, the Assassin emerges from the shadows to find a higher purpose for his deadly talents.

  • Blade Dancer – She rushes beyond the reach of her enemies, each movement a deadly cut. Her blade finds its mark, and the next, again and again, falls. She dodges their blows and makes them pay dearly for it. She dances and kills.
  • A skilled marksman – one arrow pierces the heart and shatters the skull behind it – the next arrow flies from her bow, striking sparks in its path. The arrows pierce one body, then another, a third, a dozen dead – and still there are more. She has enough arrows for everyone.
  • Falconer – Never fight alone. Never fight fair. A master tactician who uses deceptive traps and the help of a fearsome bird of prey. She survives through her wits, ingenuity, and most importantly, her falcon devotion.

Specializations for Mage :

An elder who has reached his prime, the mage uses the power of the arcana to atone for his past sins and give the world a new future.

  • The Sorcerer is a master of the arcane, wielding unparalleled power to destroy enemies from afar. Unearthly lightning bolts erupt from his fingertips, fiery meteors rain from the skies at his will, and the very fabric of reality shifts in his presence.
  • The Warrior Sorcerer is a mage who combines martial prowess with spellcasting to confront enemies at close range. A sword coated in ice and fire, a shield sparkling with spells. The Sorcerer is as magnificent as he is deadly.
  • The Runemaster is a mage who has tamed the power of the arcana, weaving its chaos with the art of the runes. The Runemaster infuses magic into offensive and defensive shields that shatter those who breach them, entangling enemies and erecting walls at will.

Specializations for Primordial :

A warrior from the north who has experienced the horrors of war firsthand, the Primalist seeks to commune with the power of Eterra, the power of nature itself.

  • Beastmaster – A warrior who assumes command with the might of beasts, setting an example with strength and power. He charges forward, the ferocity of his comrades filling his body – the heart of the wild beats within him. Fury drives him.
  • Shaman – The world remembers winds raging and tearing down forests, avalanches crushing mountain slopes, lightning splitting the sky and demanding awe. A living storm that uses the fury of nature to destroy its enemies with sacred totems.
  • The Druid is a channeler of Eterra’s long-dormant power, bending the fury of nature to his will, even taking the form of ferocious creatures. He is the embodiment of the hidden power of the land, Eterra’s bastion against all that might threaten it.

Specializations for Acolyte :

A rebellious offspring who disobeys her masters and seeks forbidden magic, Acolyte will let nothing stop her from becoming even more powerful.

  • Necromancer – Flesh, bone, blood, and the lingering essence left behind by life are her tools, her weapons. She is the mistress of a forgotten army, her dark creations swarming with the hunger of the dead. A hunger born of her power and fed at her command.
  • A Lich is an acolyte who has embraced the corrupting nature of her power, using blood and death magic to the detriment of her own health. She steals life by consuming the essence of the dead and damned to gain power. This power will make her invincible.
  • The Warlock is a master of the forbidden arts, tearing into the essence of her enemies, twisting and corrupting their spirits. Curses that cloud the mind and break the body, the slightest word from her lips carries enough foul magic to rob her enemies of life entirely.
