How to uninstall Display Driver Uninstaller

Background & Installation

A little backstory . A month ago I took Gigabate GTX1080 8 GB for testing. Now I use my video card Asus Strix RX580 8 GB. Actually, NVIDIA and AMD video cards were used in turn. The green drivers were properly uninstalled (removed).

When I ran the Display Driver Uninstaller, I was a bit surprised. Some data of the unused graphic card is still saved. The utility log contains the following data: Video Card #0000 – Model: Radeon RX 580 Series and Video Card #0001 – Model: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080.

How were the NVIDIA drivers removed? Under Settings > Apps > Apps & features . Found the NVIDIA Graphics Driver and clicked Uninstall a few times . The uninstaller confirmed the removal. I had to delete other NVIDIA programs in this way.

Download Display Driver Uninstaller from the official website . Unzip its data to a place convenient for you (by default, the location of the program). Run the program as a Windows 10 administrator . You must understand what you are doing and have a backup.

Important! For the best hassle-free cleaning, it is recommended that you restart your computer in Safe Mode. Otherwise, you will see a warning: DDU has determined that you are not using the system in safe mode. You can still uninstall the driver though. Everything works great.

How to use DDU

In the device type line, select: Video card and specify the manufacturer AMD (or NVIDIA ). Click on the UNINSTALL AND RESTART button (highly recommended for everyone).

  • UNINSTALL AND REBOOT– The system will pull up the base Microsoft video adapter driver . And after a while, the required driver will be automatically loaded.
  • DELETE WITHOUT REBOOT– This can lead to the black screen issue. Which is strongly discouraged. Although the driver should pick up the image.
  • REMOVE AND DISABLE– should be used to install a new video card. After turning on the computer, wait for the drivers to automatically download or install them yourself.

Some default settings need to be changed. In the Options section , uncheck Delete folders C:\AMD and C:\NVIDIA with drivers . I also turned off possible advertising for myself Show offers from our partners . I do not need it.

With my AMD graphics card, everything is clear. And the NVIDIA graphics processor has not been used for a long time. Let’s try to clear unnecessary data. I choose Video card> NVIDIA and click REMOVE WITHOUT REBOOT . A few seconds and there is no data on the GTX 1080 video card.

Conclusion

The Display Driver Uninstaller program allows you to quickly and completely remove video card drivers. It is constantly updated and works in the latest versions of Windows 10. I needed a program to easily remove the remnants of NVIDIA drivers after a month.
