How to enable the webcam in use warning
Windows – starting from version 8 and 8.1 – has introduced a software innovation which, however, is not enabled by default and is not even available in the Settings. This is a small pop – up warning that appears at the top left if the PC webcam is in use or not . This feature has been designed for those occasions when it is not possible to notice the LED on or not on the webcam, perhaps because it is covered or broken. It is possible to re-enable this feature via the registry to have a convenient on-screen alert whenever an application turns on the PC webcam – this is how it looks on the PC.

If you have backed up your data, just carry out the following procedure :
- Openthe Registry Editor by searching for it on Windows Search.
- Go to HKEY_ LOCAL _ MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ OEM \ Device \ Capture from the address bar at the top.
- On the right, createa new DWORD ( 32-bit ) Value and name it NoPhysicalCameraLED .
- The DWORD value called NoPhysicalCameraLED may already be present; in that case go to the next stepwithout creating anything.
- Make double clickon NoPhysicalCameraLED and set the data value to 1 , then click OK .
- Restart your PC.
When your computer restarts you will notice the warning appearing at the top left of your screen every time you open an application – UWP or Win32 – that requires access to the webcam . You can disable the webcam use warning by repeating the previous steps and setting the NoPhysicalCameraLED value data to 0 .
