How to turn on subtitles on Google Meet

The subtitles of Google Meet is a very interesting feature that can be easily activated from the mobile application with a small click, so that you can begin to see on the screen the literal transcription of everything that is spoken in the meeting.

Google Meet is one of the many apps for holding virtual meetings or video calls with a large number of people at the same time and one of the possibilities it allows is to change the background of these calls , although little by little the possibilities it offers are more numerous.

Subtitles is one of them, the truth is that it is not something new, but unfortunately they are not available in the Spanish language . But there is no need to worry, because we recently learned that the arrival of subtitles in Spain is in Google Meet’s plans .

Surely you are not interested in activating subtitles now, but when the option in Spanish arrives, it will probably be in some circumstances or even so that you can warn someone with hearing problems that they can enable it in the app. You would have to follow these steps:

  • Open the Google Meet app and join the meeting. Within the call, click on the icon with the three dots.
  • Click on the option “activate subtitles” .
  • Wait a few moments and from the moment anyone in the Meet video call begins to speak, you will see that they begin to transcribe everything that is spoken right at the bottom, it is almost in real time because there is a small delay.

You can also activate the subtitles of Google Meet in the web version of the service, you just have to start the call and click on the icon with the three dots in the lower right, there is the option “activate subtitles” .

As easy as you enable subtitles , you can also remove them at any time if they bother you or you don’t see them necessary. In any case, this functionality of Google Meet seems to have room for improvement, it will surely improve the speed at which the text is able to appear.
