How to transfer data from iPhone to Android without PC

Let’s start by seeing how to transfer data from iPhone to Android using only the two smartphones in question, without therefore using a PC or a Mac. Below you will find explained how to proceed for all the main files that you may want to transfer from a phone to the other.

Email, contacts and calendar

If you want to move saved emails, contacts and events within the iOS calendar, you will be happy to know that the two operating systems can communicate with each other through data backup and synchronization via the cloud . This is a very widespread practice, which can be easily performed through the use of some cross-platform tools offered by Google: so you just have to take advantage of the synchronization of your Google account and you’re done!

The first recommended operation is therefore to associate the same Google account with both devices, thus synchronizing the elements to be transferred from one device to another.

To perform this operation from your iOS device , press the Settings app (the symbol of a gear located on the Home screen) and then tap on the items Contacts> Accounts> Add Account . Then press the Google logo from the menu you see appear on the screen, log in to your Google account (by typing your email address and password ), then tap the Next button and, if necessary, pass the two-factor authentication .

Once logged in, make sure that the levers corresponding to the items you want to synchronize ( Mail , Contacts , Calendars and Notes ) are active, otherwise move them to ON (and you will see them turn green).

Now you need to make sure that the Google account you set is the default one for address book synchronization. To do this, go to Settings> Contacts> Default account and put the check mark next to the newly added account ( Gmail ).

At this point, if you have already associated your Android device with the Google account that you have also entered on iOS, you just have to wait a few seconds for the synchronization to take place. Auto sync is not activating and you want to know how to transfer contacts from iPhone to Android manually? Then tap on the Settings icon first (the symbol of a gear from the home screen), then press on the Account> Google items and, finally, on your email address .

Now activate the levers relating to the elements to be synchronized (in particular the one called Contacts ), simply by moving them to ON . Alternatively, if you have multiple Google accounts on your Android device, press on the Account Synchronization and Contacts items , in order to manually start the synchronization of this item. You can also do the same for all the other items in the list.

Are you having trouble performing this last operation? Solve them immediately by reading my tutorial dedicated to the topic, in which you can find all the steps related to synchronizing the Gmail address book .

As an alternative to synchronizing contacts via the Google account, which unfortunately does not take into account the numbers in the address book previously saved directly on the iPhone, you can decide to act differently by exporting them by creating a VCF / CVS file containing all the saved items in the address book. To proceed, in this case, I recommend that you read my guide on how to export the iPhone address book , where you will find all the steps that you need to follow to achieve the purpose. Also, you can check out the post on how to transfer contacts from iPhone to Android as well , which I’m sure will give you an extra helping hand.

Finally, in case you were wondering how to transfer contacts from iPhone to Android with Bluetooth , know that it is not possible to do this. iPhone, in fact, allows exchange only via AirDrop , a function that is only useful between Apple devices. In that case I’m sorry, but you have to use one of the methods I explained earlier without being able to rely on Bluetooth.

Photo and video

The simplest solution to transfer photos and videos from an iOS device to an Android device is to backup and synchronize with a special app available on both operating systems.

In this regard, I suggest you use Google Photos , the photo and video storage app developed by Google for Android and iOS devices , to free up the memory of your device by storing multimedia elements in the cloud (for a maximum of 15 GB of space in the basic free plan; if you need more space you need to purchase a paid plan ).

Then download the Google Photos application through the App Store following the normal download procedure for iOS . Once the download is complete, start the app and activate the synchronization of the multimedia elements in the iOS Photos app with Google Photos.

To proceed, on the Google Photos home screen, tap the Allow access to all photos button (twice in a row), then – if necessary – log in with the Google account you want to use on the Android device, choose the backup settings and presses the Confirm button when prompted to immediately perform the backup and synchronization. If your Google account is already set up on iOS, instead, directly press the Back up button as [Your name] , then choose the backup settings and press the Confirm button .

This procedure can also be performed at a later time: on the Google Photos home screen, presses your profile image at the top right and then the Activate backup button , choose the upload size and tap the Confirm button .

The photos synchronized with Google Photos are then uploaded online and therefore visible in the Google Photos application for Android . To learn more about using Google Photos , read my guide focused on how it works, in which I also told you about its use via a web browser.

Musica

Do you want to transfer music from iPhone to Android and are a little worried because you don’t know how to do it? Also in this case you can rest assured: there are several solutions suitable for the purpose.

For example, if you use the well-known application for listening to streaming music in Apple Music on demand mode on iOS , you will be pleased to know that this is also available on Android and you can therefore download it for free through the Play Store or the alternative store of the your smartphone (in case it does not have integrated Google services).

To perform this operation, start the store you normally use on Android by tapping on its icon on the home screen and then, using the internal search engine, locate the Apple Music application . To install it, press the Install and Accept buttons and then press the Open item to start it.

When the application is started, press the Accept item , then tap the Continue button and log in with your Apple ID data by pressing the Login item at the top right. If you don’t remember your ID data, my tutorial on how to recover your Apple ID may be useful .

Note that by doing so, you will be able to listen to songs included in your Apple Music subscription, but not to those synced through iTunes / Music or purchased through the iTunes Store. In this specific case you will have to transfer music from iTunes to Android, as you can find explained in my tutorial on how to upload music to Android , in the section dedicated specifically to iTunes.

Furthermore, Apple Music is just one of the most popular cross-platform applications for streaming music. If you use a different application, such as Spotify or Amazon Music , just download the relevant apps on Android and log in with the account data you registered using the app on iOS.

If you want to know more about what are the best cross-platform applications for listening to streaming music, read my tutorial dedicated to this topic where you can find all the information about it.

App

Do you want to move all your apps in one go from one terminal to another? I’m sorry to inform you that, unfortunately, this operation is not so immediate and there is no way, at least for the moment, to transfer everything in a few taps.

However, transferring app data from iPhone to Android is not impossible: luckily many apps, being cross-platform, allow you to use both iOS and Android simply by logging in through the same account used during registration, as I have explained in the section on transferring music from iOS to Android of this tutorial.

This rule applies to social networks like Facebook , Instagram , Twitter and so on, to streaming apps for movies and TV series like Netflix , Prime Video and the like. Then just download the app on Android, start it and log in with the same account used previously.

For apps like WhatsApp , on the other hand, there is the Move chats to Android function , which I told you about in detail in this tutorial , which allows you to transfer almost all the content of the messaging app in a fairly fast and secure way.

Finally, as far as games are concerned, if you are wondering how to pass data from iPhone to Android in this particular sector, there are no official solutions, but it is often sufficient to activate the synchronization of progress in the cloud (when this is possible, remembering activate it on your Google account) and then proceed by downloading the game on Android and logging into the same synchronized account.

Many games also use their own progress saving system, as is the case with SuperCell’s SuperCell ID . Even in cases like this, therefore, you just need to log in with the same account to the game in question even if installed on a different terminal from the previous one. For more information, however, I leave you to my guide on how to transfer a game from one phone to another , which can certainly be of interest to you.

Other data

There are other data that you would like to transfer that do not appear among the ones I told you previously, such as documents and PDFs, and you are wondering how to transfer data from iPhone to Android for free via some other method? Then you can take advantage of Snapdrop , a wireless sending system of a large number of different files by connecting to the same network; this, among other things, guarantees the highest level of privacy and speed (as the data is not uploaded to the cloud).

Using it is very simple: just connect to the official Snapdrop page via the browser of both devices and, using the iPhone, locate the icon corresponding to the Android device on the screen and tap on it. After that, you just have to select the file to send by locating it in the iPhone memory or on iCloud Drive and proceed with sending the latter.

On Android, on the other hand, press the Allow button to download the item just received. For more information on how Snapdrop works, in case you need it, I leave you to my tutorial on programs to send large files .

How to transfer data from iPhone to Android with cable

Are you looking for other useful solutions to transfer the data of your iOS device to an Android using different methods than the online ones that I indicated earlier? In this case, I suggest you read my tutorial on how to transfer data from iPhone to Samsung : it is a guide that concerns the procedures to be carried out in case you want to transfer data from an iPhone to a Samsung-branded device.

In particular, I talked to you about how data transfer works through the use of the Smart Switch tool , a free software that I recommend you take into consideration when transferring data to Samsung devices.

Alternatively, if you have a computer, you can also think about copying the various files present in iOS on the latter, and then proceeding by transferring the elements present in the computer to your Android smartphone. In this case, if you have a Windows PC , it will be useful to download the iCloud client , and then follow the instructions in my tutorial on how to transfer photos from iCloud to PC . If you have a Mac , however, you will be able to find your photos and other data directly in the pre-installed apps on your computer such as Photos, Finder etc.

To transfer the files saved on the computer to the Android smartphone, instead, via a Windows PC , just connect it using the appropriate cable, start the File Explorer and press on the items This PC> Shared memory , then just copy and paste the items you want to transfer. On Mac , however, the operation is slightly more complicated because it is necessary to have a program capable of reading the memory of the Android smartphone such as Android File Transfer , which I have told you about in detail in this in-depth study .

Program to transfer data from iPhone to Android

Are you looking for a program that can make you transfer all data from iPhone to Android ? Then I believe you should take a look at Wondershare dr.fone .

As you probably already know, Wondershare dr.fone is an all-in-one program for managing the data on your smartphone. It consists of various modules, which allow you to perform various operations: create and restore backups, unlock locked phones, recover deleted files and transfer data from one operating system to another. In particular, the latter function allows you to copy contacts, SMS, call log, calendar, bookmarks, voice memos, photos, music, videos, contact blacklist, reminders, alarms, browsing history, notes, voicemail, wallpapers, ringtones and apps. from iOS to Android (or vice versa). It works directly from your computer, is compatible with both Windows and macOS , and is extremely simple to use.

You can download and try it for free but, to copy data from one system to another, you need to purchase the Switch module , which costs from € 35.99 / year. That said, to download the dr.Fone Switch module on your computer, connect to the official website of the program and click on the Try it free button located on the left of the page. If the key does not refer to the correct operating system, first press the Go to [Windows / Mac] item and then proceed with the Try it free key .

At the end of the download, if you use Windows , start the .exe file you just downloaded and, in the window that opens, click first on the Yes button and then on Install . Wait, then, for all the components necessary for the operation of dr.fone to be downloaded from the Internet and installed , and press the Start Now button to complete the setup.

If you are using a Mac , on the other hand, open the .dmg file you downloaded from the dr.Fone website , click on the Accept button and double-click on the installation icon that appears on the screen. At the first start, remember to confirm the execution of the software by answering Open to the warning you see on the screen.

Now, before taking the actual action, you need to make sure that dr.fone can correctly recognize your smartphones. To do this, you need to enable USB debugging in the Android settings and you need to pair your iPhone with your computer via iTunes .

If you don’t know how to activate USB debugging on Android, take your smartphone, go to the Settings menu> System> About phone / Device information and tap 7 times in a row on the Build number item , in order to activate the menu of Developer options . Then go to the latter and move the lever located at the USB Debugging option to ON . If any steps aren’t clear to you, check out my guide on how to enable USB debugging on Android .

As for the association of the iPhone to the computer, connect the “iPhone by” to the PC, using the supplied Lightning / USB cable , and start iTunes . If you have not yet installed iTunes on your computer, fix it immediately by following the instructions in my tutorial dedicated to the topic. Subsequently, if this is the first time you connect the iPhone to the computer, answer affirmatively to the warnings that appear on both devices and type the unlock code on the phone, in order to confirm the operation. For more details on the whole procedure, you can read my tutorial on how to connect iPhone to PC .

You are now ready to transfer data from iOS to Android (or vice versa). Therefore, connect the two smartphones to the computer, start dr.fone and click on the Switch button , present in the main menu of the program. In the window that opens, make sure that dr.fone has detected both phones (otherwise check that you have performed the preliminary operations above and try to reconnect them to the computer) and that they are in the desired order: in the source phone field (on the left) there must be the phone from which to take the data, while in the target phone field (on the right) there must be the smartphone on which to copy the data. If the order is not the one you want, click on the buttonFlip (top center), to reverse it.

Then wait for the data on the source phone to be examined (it may take a few minutes), put the check mark next to the boxes relating to the data you want to copy to the target phone ( contacts , SMS , call log , calendar , bookmarks , voice memos , photos , music , videos , contact blacklists , reminders , alarms , browsing history , notes , voicemail , wallpapers ,ringtones or apps ) and press the Start Transfer button to start copying the files.

If you want to delete the data currently on the target smartphone, check the Delete data before copying box (bottom right) and, if you are asked to unlock the smartphone, enter the relevant code on the device.

A window will now open in which you can follow the progress of the data transfer. When finished, press the dr.fone OK button to close the window.

You will find the content copied to the target smartphone in the respective app of competence (e.g. images in the Gallery app, songs in the Music app and so on).
