Start by pulling up the collar of your shirt and closing the button on the collar. Put on the tie. If you are a medium-sized man, place the small part of the tie at the waist. Now, the knotting process begins. To do this, cross the wide part over the narrow part a little below the neck. Then slide the wide part under the narrow one.
When you have done this, fold it over the narrow part and pass the wide part over the top again. You can help yourself by placing your index finger on the knot that is being formed and that you will remove when you slide the wide part inside the knot.
And now comes the most crucial moment. Hold the narrow part with one hand as you gently pull the wide part to close the knot.
Once achieved, you just have to adjust the knot and raise it to the last button on the neck. Center it.
To check that it is well done, check that the narrow part is not visible and that the end of the wide part should be at waist level.
Double knot
Once you have learned how to tie the single knot, you can continue polishing the technique by learning to tie the double knot. This is very similar to the simple one, except that when you start the wide part, make two turns over the narrow one, which means that you will get a thicker knot than the simple one.
As in the previous case, the double knot combines perfectly with all shirts, and you can also use any tie to do it, except those that are too thick.
