So, a screenshot can be taken using standard operating system tools. On the keyboard of a stationary computer, netbooks and laptops, there is a special button for these purposes – Print Screen. It is labeled differently on different keyboards, PrtScr or PrtScr SysRq .
There are three options for how to take a screenshot using standard tools, now we will analyze each of these options.
- To take a screenshot of the entire screen, you just need to press a button PrtScr.
- Let’s take a snapshot of a specific window. Bring the desired window to the foreground and use the keyboard shortcut Alt+ PrtScr .
- Now let’s take a screenshot of any desired part of the screen. Click on Shift+ PrtScr, click and hold the left mouse button. Then just select the desired area of the screen.
Using the Shutter program.
The built-in standard functionality is of course simple and fast, but it does not provide wide possibilities. For example, we want to make some changes to the screenshot we just took. Give an effect to this screen or draw pointers, mark the desired area. In this case, you cannot do without a third-party program. And the best program in my opinion, Shutter, comes to the rescue.
Very simple and straightforward to use. It also provides the ability to take pictures of a specific window and a specific area. Simple example of use
Shutter has additional plugins with which you can add various effects to the screen.
