Synchronization of contacts in VK allows you to find users in the social network through entries in the phone book. We tell you how to use this function.

Let’s point out an important point right away. Through synchronization, you can find VK profiles of people to whom phone numbers from your book are linked. However, this does not mean that after the process is complete, you will be able to immediately start communicating. If the user has restricted access to the profile, you will first have to “ask” to be their friend. Also, the person from your book may have disabled the search by phone number.

How to sync contacts on android

  • Open the VKontakte application;
  • At the bottom, click on the “Services” tab, then click on the three horizontal stripes in the upper right part of the screen;
  • Open the “Settings” menu and select “Application”;
  • Scroll to the very bottom and select the “Synchronize contacts” option;
  • Click “Allow”.

How to sync contacts on iOS

Due to differences in the interface, the synchronization process on Apple gadgets differs from the one described above:

  • Open the VKontakte application;
  • Go to the “Friends” section;
  • At the top of the screen we see the inscription “Add friends from contacts”;
  • Click on it and provide access to the phone book;
  • A list of profiles will then appear on the screen.

Is it possible to sync contacts on PC?

No, this option is only available in mobile versions of the application.

Is it possible to disable search by phone number?

Yes, this is done in the privacy settings.

The procedure is identical on Android and iOS:

  • Open the VKontakte application;
  • Go to “Services”, then select the “Settings” section;
  • Open the “Privacy” menu, look for the item “Who can find my profile when importing contacts” and set the value to “Nobody”.
