How to Stop Time in Minecraft

How to Stop Time in Minecraft Java Edition

If you play Minecraft Java Edition and want to know how to stop time , know that this operation is possible by acting directly from the game settings.

After you start Minecraft , press the Single Player button and then click on the Create a new world item . At this point, in the screen that appears, assign a new name to your world and choose the mode you want to play ( Survival , Creative , Extreme ).

Now, go to the More tab at the top and click on the Game Rules button . You will be presented with a long list of game settings that you can adjust, which will change the behavior of certain features and functions of Minecraft.

What you need to do is scroll down the list until you reach the World Updates section and press the button next to the Day-Night Cycle entry , so as to change it to No . By doing this, the world you create will not have time flowing and will remain locked at the time the world was generated. If necessary, you can also disable the Update Weather entry , if you do not want any weather changes to occur.

How to stop time on Minecraft Bedrock Edition

Even in Minecraft Bedrock Edition it is possible to stop time in a similar way to what we saw in the previous paragraphs for the Java edition of Minecraft .

All you have to do is start Minecraft and press the Play button . Then, press the Create New button and then the Create New World option at the top. Now configure your world by choosing the mode, difficulty and other useful parameters.

Then move to the Cheats tab and move the switch next to the Cheats wording to ON . In the Cheats Settings section , which you can find in the area below, click on the Always Day button , so that the game time is always set to noon and the time will no longer scroll.

If you also want to prevent any changes to the weather conditions, move the lever next to the Variable Weather wording to OFF .

Keep in mind that unlike Minecraft Java Edition, in the Bedrock Edition you can change the game settings as often as you want. How? Simply go into the pause menu and select the Settings item .

At this point, move to the Game tab and scroll down the screen until you find the Cheats section . First move the lever next to the Enable cheats item to ON and then, under the Always day item , move the lever next to it to ON .

Whether you stopped time before the world was created or during an active session, if you want to reactivate it, all you have to do is enter the pause menu , select the Settings item and press the Game tab . Then find the Always Day item in the Cheats section and move the lever next to it to OFF .

How to stop time in Minecraft: command

All the operations I have indicated in the previous chapters affect a Minecraft parameter (valid for any edition) called doDaylightCycle . In fact, by acting on the latter, you can block the passage of time and, in the case of a new game session, it will always be day in your world on Minecraft.

The command containing doDaylightCycle allows you to activate, as well as deactivate, the normal day-night cycle, at any time during the game session. Therefore, for example, if you have stopped time on Minecraft Java Edition , you will have to act with this command to reactivate it or you can also use it if you want to stop and restart time in a game session already in progress. On Minecraft Bedrock Edition, the command in question is practically useless, as you can manage everything from the game settings, but it can always come in handy.

Therefore, the first thing you need to do is enable cheats on Minecraft: I talked about it in detail in this tutorial of mine . Once this fundamental operation has been performed, use the command /gamerule doDaylightCycle falseto stop time, that is, the day-night dynamics of Minecraft, while using the command /gamerule doDaylightCycle trueto reactivate time.

Another command that you can use to stop time, this time valid only for Minecraft Java Edition , is the one that provides for the interruption of the execution of game ticks . These ticks are nothing more than the unit of measurement of time in Minecraft and, their interruption, involves the blocking of any game activity: no event will occur, no creature will be spawned, all creatures and animations will be still, in short, time will be literally frozen.

The command to use, always after activating the cheats, is the following: /tick freeze. Running this command will freeze any game script, allowing only the player to move and interact with the game world. To restore the flow of time, simply use the command /tick unfreeze.
