How to share screen when using Google Meet with audio and see students?

Currently many countries in the world are in quarantine caused by the virus “Covid 19”, therefore, companies, colleges and universities use programs such as Google Meet or Zoom to communicate or teach classes, since it is one of the best tools free.

If you are a teacher, tutor or you dedicate yourself to teaching online courses, you probably ask yourself the following question: Is it possible to share the screen when using Google Meet with audios and see your students at the same time?

The answer is yes, if it is possible to share a screen with audio on this platform and then we will explain in detail all the steps you must take to achieve it.

The first thing is to download and install Google Meet , you click on the “Show my screen” button, this is in the lower right corner of the screen. Once you press it, you will see that three options will appear Entire screen, a window and a Chrome tab.

Following that you will have to select the option called “A Chrome tab” , since it is the best option when it comes to sharing an animation or a video. After pressing this button, a window will automatically open where you can view all the pages you have open.

You have to select the tab you want to share and in the lower left corner there will be an option with a box that you can check or uncheck called “Share audio”. After you have marked the box you must press the “Share” button.

The tab that contains the audio will automatically open and you will see that at the top of the screen there will be a message that says that you are sharing that screen with Google Meet and the “Interrupt” button that if you press it, you will stop sharing your screen with the students .

If you open Google Meet again, the same message will appear, but with the url of the site you are sharing and a new button called “Share this tab .

In the center of the “Google Meet” screen there will be a button that says “Stop showing the screen” and turn the presentation audio on or off.

If you share the screen using any of the other buttons, it is likely that your students will not hear anything when you share the video or audio with them.

How to comment while the audio is playing?

If one of the resources in your presentation contains audio, you probably need to make comments or clarifications about what is being played. In order for the public to hear your voice and audio at the same time, you will simply have to decrease the volume of it and voila you will be able to say all the comments that are important.

It is possible that when you press the “Show my screen” button, the option “Share tab” will not appear, but do not worry because it is only an update and you will still be able to share the audio if you follow the following steps:

  1. Open the Chrome browser and press the icon of the 3 dots that is in the right corner of the upper toolbar.
  2. When you double-click on these two buttons, some options will appear and you will have to select the option to send or retransmit. Next, a new button will appear on the toolbar.
  3. Click on it with the right mouse button and check “Always show the icon” and “Enable cloud services”.
  4. The last thing will be to open “Calendar Google” to create an event. There you will have to add and record a Google meet video call.

When you join the video conference and open the video press the “Send” button and check the video box to share the audio.
