An SMS center is a special number of a telecom operator responsible for delivering text messages. If you have problems sending and/or receiving them, it is possible that you simply do not have an SMS center set up. Our article will tell you how to do this.
Why SMS are not sent
There are usually several reasons for this. The first is a banal lack of funds on your balance. By replenishing your account in accordance with the tariff, you will be able to send SMS again. In rare cases, the problem may be related to the phone firmware. In this case, you should update the software or contact the service center.
And the last reason may be incorrect settings of the above-mentioned SMS center. Most often, it is configured automatically, but there are exceptions.
Where is the SMS center located?
It is stored in the SIM card memory and is entered through the smartphone or tablet settings. To find out, follow the instructions below:
- Go to the Phone app
- Enter the combination: *#*#4636#*#* and press call;
- In the window that appears, select “Device Information”;
- Scroll down to the “SMSC” line and click “Update”.
How to enter SMS center number manually
Procedure:
- Open the Messages app
- Click Options;
- Select “Settings” and “Advanced”;
- Click on the “SMS” item.
Here you will find the “SMS center” – click on it, and the operator’s number will appear on the screen. If it is not displayed, then enter one of the following and reboot the device:
- MTS : +79168999100;
- Beeline : +79037011111;
- Tele2 : +79043490000;
- Yota : +7958537069;
- Megafon : +79202909090.
