How to Set Up Call Forwarding on iPhone

Call forwarding is the redirection of an incoming call to another number. Why is it necessary? For example, in a situation when the subscriber is outside the network coverage area, or his smartphone is switched off.

This feature is present on all iPhones and is set up the same way. We tell you how to do it in different ways.

What types of call forwarding exist on iPhone

There are four types of call forwarding on Apple smartphones:

  • All incoming calls are redirected to another number (selected by the user);
  • Call forwarding when the number is busy;
  • Call forwarding in case of incoming call rejection or the subscriber simply did not pick up the phone;
  • Call forwarding in a situation when the smartphone owner is out of range (turned off the device, or found himself in a place where there is no signal).

How to Enable Call Forwarding on iPhone

  • Using phone settings;
  • Using a special command;
  • By activating on the mobile operator’s website;
  • Using Apple ID settings.

Let’s talk about each one in more detail.

How to Enable Call Forwarding on iPhone in iOS Settings

rocedure:

  • Go to “Settings”;
  • Go to the “Phone” section;
  • Click on “Forwarding” and move the slider to the right;
  • Next, click on “Forward”;
  • Enter the phone number you want to forward to;
  • Click “Back” to save.

Yes, that’s a clever way. For some reason, Apple didn’t provide the “Done” or “Save” buttons.

An important point is that with this method, all calls coming to the phone number will be forwarded.

If you need more flexible settings, you should use USSD commands or your mobile operator’s application.

Using USSD command you can set up flexible forwarding. And these commands are the same for all operators.

Procedure:

  • To activate call forwarding, dial *110*031# on your phone and press the call button;
  • To connect the number to which the call will be forwarded, use the command **21* phone number#;
  • You can set the forwarding time: **61*phone number**P# (where P is the time in seconds, from 5 to 30);
  • If the phone is unavailable or switched off: **62*phone number#.

You can also set up redirection via the operator’s website or application. For example, MegaFon does it like this:

  • Download the MegaFon app from the App Store;
  • Run it;
  • Go to the “Services” section;
  • Click on “Call Forwarding”;
  • Select the number to which you want to forward calls;
  • Decide on the conditions (always or under certain circumstances);
  • Enable call forwarding.

The cost of the service varies depending on the operator and tariff.

How to enable call forwarding between iPhones on the same Apple ID

There is another method that is suitable for multiple iPhones with a single account. In this case, the call will be displayed on several smartphones that are nearby and connected to Wi-Fi.

Procedure:

  • Go to “Settings”;
  • Go to the “Phone” section;
  • Click on “On other devices”;
  • Move the slider to the right next to Allow Calls.
  • Next, select the required devices.

How to Turn Off Call Forwarding on iPhone

Disabling call forwarding is done in the same way as enabling it. Namely:

  • In the case of standard call forwarding on iPhone : follow the path “Settings” — “Phone” — “Call forwarding” and move the slider to the left;
  • If a USSD command was used : use the universal command ##002#;
  • If the operator’s application was used : disable the application there;
  • If call forwarding is enabled between iPhones on the same account : go to “Settings” — “Phone” — “On other devices” and move the slider to the left next to “Allow calls
