How to save the phone book of the smartphone

The smartphone address book is a very precious tool to always have your numbers and contacts at hand, and it is important to save it.

The smartphone address book has now become an invaluable tool for saving business contacts (and not only) and having every phone number at hand. A simple tap is enough to reach anyone who is registered, and that is why saving the smartphone address book is essential to avoid suddenly finding yourself without phone numbers.

If the smartphone were to break or be lost, in fact, in addition to the economic damage for many people, the problem of having lost all precious contacts should also be addressed. Do not worry though: with a few simple tricks you can save the smartphone address book in order to access it comfortably from another device and download it to a new one. Here’s how to do it.

Save the Android phonebook

If the phone numbers are saved on an Android device, the methods to use are different. For example, you can proceed with the synchronization of contacts via Gmail : it is sufficient to have associated the smartphone to a Google account and activate the synchronizationcontacts so that the address book is automatically copied to the other devices associated with the same account. To do this, go to the smartphone settings, select the Users and Accounts item, then the Google logo and finally the Gmail address. The Contacts Synchronization item will be activated if the Gmail account is enabled, otherwise simply move the indicator to On. If a Google account has not yet been configured on the smartphone, simply select Add Google-Account from the settings and enter the desired Gmail address.

Another way to save the address book is to download its contents and save it and then eventually transfer it to another device. To do this, Android provides the export function directly to the address book, in order to generate a .VCF filecompatible with Android and Apple devices and with the main e-mail services, online or on your computer. Depending on the smartphone, the procedure may change slightly, but in principle almost all of them have the Import / Export function in the contacts app. Once the file has been downloaded, it is necessary to send it to yourself, either via a cloud storage service such as Dropbox or Google Drive, or via email or using an app for wireless data transfer. At that point the file only needs to be downloaded and the contacts present uploaded to the new device.

The Android phone book can also be saved from smartphone to SIM , so that once the card is transferred to another smartphone, the phone book is automatically transferred with it. Many devices have this function by default, directly in the Contacts app, but if not, you can use free apps such as Copy to SIM Card, available on the Android Play Store, to select all the contacts on the smartphone that you want to transfer. on the SIM.

Save iPhone address book

For those who own an iPhone, saving the address book is quite simple using iCloud , the iOS storage service. Once the address book has been saved on the Cloud, it will be reachable from any other iPhone, as long as you log in with the corresponding Apple ID . This way you can also restore the phonebook to a new phone.

To save contacts on iCloud you must then access the Settings menu, access the iCloud item and check that the indicator relating to the synchronization of Contacts is green (active). iCloud must also be selected as the default account under Contacts always in Settings. Contacts, via iCloud and Apple ID, are also present on Mac .

In the same way that with Android it is then possible to take advantage of Gmail to synchronize contacts . Once the Gmail account has been set from settings, it must be selected as the default account, and in this way all Gmail contacts and all new contacts created on the iPhone will be automatically saved in the Google address book. The contacts previously saved on the smartphone must instead be downloaded as a VCF file and then imported to Gmail, and this can be done either via iCloud (downloaded and imported to Gmail) or via apps that allow you to generate a VCF file.

App to save the address book

In fact, there are several free apps that allow you to save contacts in the address book, save in a file and then send it via email in order to find it easily. An example is Easy Backup, or My Contacts Backup. When possible, apps that do not require the creation of an online account and that do not ask for sensitive data other than the permission to access the address book should be preferred. Once activated, the app generates the file with the desired contacts (all or selected ones) and allows you to send it via email, wireless data transfer services and also via messaging services.
