If there’s one thing about Undead Nightmare , the standalone expansion for Red Dead Redemption , it’s that it’s frenetic from start to finish. Zombies have taken over the Wild West and they have no intention of resting. That’s why John Marston must rise from his grave to save all the territories from this invasion. Literally, because one of the activities to complete the DLC 100% is to save each territory. Today we’ll tell you how to do it easily.
Safe Territories in Undead Nightmare
In this expansion, every time John Marston reaches a new territory on the map, some cities will be displayed on it with a “?” symbol. But in this case it will not be a warning of a secondary mission, but a warning that the status of that territory is unknown . In other words, it is unknown whether or not it is invaded by zombies. Right off the bat, this is already important, because if a city is invaded, we will not be able to save the game, sleep in it or get ammunition from chests.
Also, saving all zombie-infested territories is essential to getting 100% of Undead Nightmare . And zombies never rest, so we’ll have to take into account a very tricky handicap: if a city has already been saved, it can be invaded again over time. Our goal is to get all 23 towns safe.
Finally, keep in mind that there are three locations in the game that have not been invaded by zombies and never will be. These are Fort Mercer, El Presidio, and Casa Madrugada , which is due to their fortifications. Keep this in mind if you need a breather, of course.
How to save villages in Undead Nightmare?
In the end, this side quest is more complex than it seems. In fact, there are two different ways to save each of the territories. On the one hand, we can enter the village, talk to the leader of the survivors and give him some ammunition. This will make it easier to finish off the remaining zombies . And on the other hand, we can eliminate all the zombies ourselves.
Whether we give the survivors ammunition or kill four zombies ourselves, we will complete a security level. And only when we have completed all the security levels of a territory can we finish off the remaining undead. As you may have guessed, each territory can have a different security level, so there are more complicated areas than others . In fact, the level usually depends on the number of survivors in a settlement.
Speaking of survivors, we’ve already mentioned that territories can be reclaimed by zombies . If this happens and we don’t do anything about it, it will be harder to save that territory again . That’s because survivors will fall and therefore won’t help us and we ‘ll need more ammo to save that area.
The different states of a territory in Undead Nightmare
To better understand the topic, we leave you with a list of the different states in which a territory can be found . Oh, and keep in mind that if we are notified that a city is being attacked, we can go from one to another by going to our safe house and selecting the travel option . Here is the promised list:
- Unknown– The player has never been to this town before and it is possible that it will be attacked as soon as they get there. As we said, only two areas are always safe.
- Under Attack– When the player first discovers most cities, they will be under attack. Typically, after five or six game days, they will be attacked again.
- Invasion: This appears when a city is attacked for a second time if we have not paid attention to the message that it was under attack. In this case, the difference is that there will be more zombies and security levels.
- Safe– Appears when the player has saved a city
- Safe Zone: This town is always safe. There are three safe zones, which are Fort Mercer, El Presidio and Casa Madrugada.
- Lost– If the player does not help the survivors of a city and they all die, the city will be lost forever. However, if the zombies are eliminated again, the city will return to the “safe” state. However, that city will still be attacked more frequently.
