How to run a business

How to start your own business from scratch , we have already talked about on our website. Let’s move on – how to run a business that you have just opened? The answer to the question “how to run a business?” is unlikely to exist. Or rather, it does exist, but it will either be a very superficial answer, or in an ambiguous and inapplicable form in different areas of business. How to run a business correctly must be understood, actually running your business, based on your experience, and not decided on the basis of some truths and rules. Although strategic definitions and adherence to some general business principles are, of course, necessary.

In this text we will try to answer the pressing question: how to run a business correctly? I will explain right away, maybe someone will not want to read further: I will write about what I consider correct in running your own business from the point of view of what is worth paying more attention to, and what less, and I will also give some business axioms.

Tips and tricks for running a businessFinally, I will give some valuable advice and useful recommendations on the general strategy for running a small business correctly.

  • Goal – tasks – plan . This really works, believe me. Set a goal, break it down into individual tasks and smaller goals, write out a plan for their implementation – and do it. To move forward, you definitely need a reference point – so you can always see where you are now. This will add motivation to you.
  • Entrepreneurship . You must work on your business, not in it. You are an entrepreneur, not an employee (even in your own enterprise). You must plan, define strategies, organize the business, lead your team. I understand that when starting your own business, you often have to do a lot of things yourself, but nevertheless, this is something you should definitely strive for.
  • Savings . No need for a fancy office and a cool chair. No need for reception areas and secretaries. Make your business more modest. At least at the beginning. If you have extra funds, you already know where to invest them: clients and sales, remember?
  • Distance . Don’t be “friends” with your employees. That’s bad. You can be fair, generous, honest – but not friends. At least stay on “you” terms. An even worse option is to take friends as employees.
  • Strategy . Always know where you are going. Determine your main direction and stick to it. Remember, your employees should also be aware of what the company is striving for. This way your business is more sustainable.
  • Responsibility . If you are not ready to take responsibility for yourself for real, and always look for someone to blame, not realizing that it is YOUR risk, then do not do business at all.

So, sales, sales, sales . You have clients, but if you don’t sell to them, they are not clients, but, say, acquaintances. Right, right? So, turning to the numbers again, let’s say this: of the remaining 50% of time (50% you spent with clients), 40% is spent on building distribution and sales channels. Again, it’s better not to do it personally (although this is not prohibited by law yet :-)), but by creating conditions and principles for doing business with an emphasis on these two main components.

Clients and sales are your main task . Everything else is 10%. At the same time, you need to take all other issues very seriously, of course. Business does not tolerate relaxation. But priorities are priorities. When you have a lot of clients, and when you sell them a lot, it will be easy to solve all other problems, you must admit. But, at least, easier than if there were no sales and clients.
