How to rename iPhone photos with File
As I told you at the beginning of the guide, since the iOS Photos app does not include an ad hoc function for renaming iPhone photos , to succeed in your intent you have to resort to a “trick”: use File .
In case you don’t know, it’s the file manager that Apple has decided to include in iOS starting from version 11 of its operating system, which allows you to manage files on the “iPhone by” and in the cloud in a fairly complete way and versatile. It is pre-installed, but if removed from the device it can be downloaded again for free from the relevant section of the App Store .
To use Files for your purpose, first take your iPhone, unlock it, go to the home screen and/or the App Library and tap the Photos app icon (the one with the white background and the multicolored flower ). Subsequently, locate the photo (or photos) on which you are interested in going to act and press on the relative preview.
On the screen that is shown to you later, press the share button (the one with the square and the arrow ) located at the bottom left, choose the Save to File option from the menu that opens and indicate the location in which to save the photo on your iPhone or iCloud Drive , then press the item Save located at the top right.
Once the photo has been imported, open the File app by pressing its icon (the one with a white background and blue folder ) that you find on the home screen and/or in the App Library, go to the location where you chose to save the image, selecting it from the Browse section or from the Recent section (if you can’t find it, you can also search by keyword, using the Search field located at the top) press and keep pressing on the file for a few moments and choose the option Rename from the menu you see opening.
As an alternative to how I just indicated, tap on the photo, then on the name currently in use shown above and choose the Rename option from the proposed menu.
Finally, remove the name currently set for the photo by deleting what is indicated in the appropriate field, type the new title and press the Done button attached to the virtual keyboard, in order to confirm and apply the changes.
