How to remove AssistiveTouch on iPhone

AssistiveTouch is an accessibility feature available on all iPhones (and iPads and Apple Watches as well ). If active, it allows those who have difficulty touching the screen or pressing the smartphone buttons to perform actions, gestures and access specific screens on their “iPhone by” with a simple touch. Furthermore, since this feature allows you to have a virtual key on the iPhone screen, it is also particularly useful for “replacing” any non-functioning keys.

How do you say? Have you activated this feature but don’t remember how to deactivate it? If so, let me help you out and explain how to remove AssistiveTouch on iPhone . In fact, if you dedicate a few minutes of your free time to me, I can show you the detailed procedure for disabling this feature, either by proceeding from the phone settings and manually deactivating this option or by asking Siri via a simple voice command.

If that’s exactly what you wanted to know, let’s not go any further and see how to proceed together. Make yourself comfortable, carve out five minutes of free time to devote to reading the next paragraphs and carefully follow the instructions I am about to give you. I assure you that by trying to put them into practice on your iPhone, you will be able to disable AssistiveTouch without experiencing any kind of problem. Happy reading and good luck with everything!

How to remove AssistiveTouch on iPhone manually

The procedure to remove AssistiveTouch on iPhone is simple and fast. In fact, all you have to do is access the section dedicated to the accessibility functions of your “iPhone by” and deactivate the option relating to AssistiveTouch.

To proceed, therefore, take your iPhone and tap the gear wheel icon on the home screen, to access the iOS Settings , and press the Accessibility item . In the new screen that appears, select the Touch option and tap on the AssistiveTouch item .

At this point, if you have also configured AssistiveTouch to confirm payments with iPhone (or any other operation that requires confirmation by pressing the side key twice) and you would like to disable this feature exclusively, locate the Confirm with side key section , move the lever relating to the option Confirm with AssistiveTouch from ON to OFF and confirm your intention by pressing on the item Use double pressure .

If, on the other hand, you want to completely deactivate AssistiveTouch, locate the AssistiveTouch item on the same screen , move the relative lever from ON to OFF and that’s it.

Furthermore, if you had previously enabled the AssistiveTouch as a shortcut in the Abbreviations menu , to disable it you can follow a further procedure that requires you to act through this same screen, accessible in the iOS Settings menu.

Then press the gear wheel icon to access your iPhone settings, select the Accessibility option , locate the General section , tap the Abbreviations item and, in the new screen that appears, remove the check mark for AssistiveTouch entry .

Finally, for completeness of information, I point out that if AssistiveTouch is enabled in the Abbreviations section, you can activate and deactivate it at any time simply by pressing the side key of your “iPhone” three consecutive times or, if you have an iPhone without Face ID, by pressing Home key three times .

How to remove AssistiveTouch on iPhone via Siri

In addition to the solutions that I have indicated above to remove AssistiveTouch proceeding from the iOS Settings, you should know that you can deactivate (and also activate) this option by asking Siri .

Therefore, if you had previously enabled Siri , press and hold the right side button (or the Home button if you have an iPhone without Face ID) or say the command “Hey Siri” directly , to start talking to Apple’s voice assistant .

At this point, all you have to do is say the command “Disable AssistiveTouch” , to have this accessibility feature disabled by Siri.

To confirm that the operation has been performed, Siri will respond with the message “OK, I have deactivated the AssistiveTouch” and will show on the screen that it has actually deactivated the relative lever in the Settings menu.

Finally, if you have enabled this option, I point out that you can also request the deactivation of AssistiveTouch by writing it in the Write to Siri field that appears on the screen when you call up the voice assistant. To learn more, you can check out my guide on how to text Siri .
