It can happen, in the large amount of accounts that you have, to forget some data to log in to your services. In the majority of cases, however, there is the possibility of recovering it through the emergency procedures made available precisely for this eventuality.
In the case of Skype , the famous video calling and instant messaging service from Microsoft , there are two different methods: one that allows you to recover the username , the other that allows you to change the forgotten password .
In the next paragraphs I will show you how to use both of them, both from PC and mobile devices .
How to recover Skype username
Let’s start with your username , in case you’ve forgotten it. To get it back, the first thing you need to do is connect to the Skype login page . If you use the app, however, tap on its icon and press the Start and Login buttons or create an account . In both cases, on the new page or screen that opened, press the Login Options link to proceed with the recovery.
Once this is done, click on the I forgot my username option , enter the alternate email address or phone number associated with your Microsoft account in the space provided, and press the Next button .
On the vehicle you have selected – telephone number or email – Microsoft will send you a security code to be entered in the new page that has opened. Once received, type it in the space provided and click on the Next button . In case you have changed your mind, you can click the link Enter a different email address or phone number and repeat the procedure above.
Now, if the account exists and the phone number or email you entered is associated with it, you can try to sign in to Skype by clicking on the Sign in link . To complete the operation, after pressing the Send code button , you will receive a code on the number or email address you provided.
Alternatively, if you remember it, you can use your password by pressing the Use your password link . If you have decided to use the first method, check the inbox or incoming SMS, enter the single-use code in the space provided and, finally, press the Login button .
If you followed the procedure step by step from a PC, you should be inside your Microsoft account , in the section relating to the Skype account . To find your username , click on Edit Profile (in the menu on the left) and, under your profile picture, you will see the Skype Name .
If, on the other hand, you have made it through the app, you can find your username by tapping on your profile picture and pressing on Skype Profile .
How to recover Skype password
The procedure to recover the Skype password is very similar to the one seen above. First of all, connected to the Retrieve your account page , enter your email , phone number or Skype name in the appropriate field and press the Next button .
To verify your identity , on the new page opened, click on the Get code button , in order to receive a 7-digit code to be entered in the dedicated space, then click on the Next button . Now you can, through the new page opened, set your new password , confirm it (by entering it again in the field below) and complete the operation by pressing the Next and Login buttons .
If you use the smartphone app, the use of the password is not always required. If you sign in using the email address , for example, you’ll need to use the one-time code that Microsoft Account Team will send you on the same.
By phone number , in case of forgotten password, you will have to click on the link Forgot password? or on the link Send the code to [phone number] via SMS to log in without entering the “official” password.
Using the Skype Name , however, the only way to recover the password will be the Forgot Password link . To complete the procedure, select the email , confirm that you are the owner by writing it in full in the appropriate field and tap the Get code button .
Then, enter the verification code received via email, press the Next button and finish the procedure, setting the new password. If you don’t know the full version of the email address you can click on the link I don’t have this info and continue the process via the web page indicated on the device.
How to recover blocked Skype account
Did you notice that your Skype account is blocked ? Most likely it has been blocked by Microsoft due to unusual activity found within it.
To try to unblock it, however, you can follow this simple procedure: connect to the official Microsoft page and log in to your blocked account by clicking on the Login button and entering your credentials.
On the new page that opens, then, enter a phone number on which to receive your verification code via SMS to unlock the account. In this case the number does not need to be associated with the account or be your personal number.
Once this is done, press the Get code button and wait to receive it, then enter it on the web page. At this point, to complete the operation, change your password via the dashboard of your account, by clicking on the Security items (in the menu a high) and Change your personal password . Now you just have to follow the guided procedure, confirming your identity and resetting your password.
How to recover deleted Skype account
You canceled your Microsoft account , and consequently, Skype went with him , but then you regretted your gesture? The situation, in this case, could be slightly problematic. It all depends on how much time has passed since the account was deleted.
If you have canceled your account for less than 60 days, simply log in again , using your credentials, on the official Microsoft page. In fact, within this time, your data will not have been deleted yet and everything will return exactly as before.
If, however, more than 60 days have passed , I am sorry to inform you that it is impossible to recover the account and its data. The only thing you can do is create a new Microsoft account , following the procedure I have indicated to you in this guide.

Haven’t even set the associated number? In this case, all you have to do is log in via the Skype Name . Such as? Don’t you even remember this data? Then there is one more attempt you can do: access via some device on which you have chosen to store, through the appropriate option, the access credentials.
