Our Apple ID is the most important account of how many we have. As we have said on other occasions, it is more important than that of the bank, since the username and password to enter the bank account will surely be stored in our Apple ID . Thus, if for any reason the password of this account is forgotten, it will have to be recovered as soon as possible . Let us begin.
How to recover the password with your own device
We have several ways to recover the password of an Apple ID, before, if necessary, we can find the Apple ID on our iPhone, iPad or Mac, even if we are not sure if we have one . The easiest is to use one of our own devices . In the case of iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch (with watchOS 8 or later), the steps to follow are the following:
- We open the Settingsapp .
- We play on our behalf.
- We enter Password and security.
- We tap on Change password.
- If asked, we enter the device code.
- We follow the steps on the screen to update the password.
We can do the same from our Mac , as long as we are using macOS Catalina or a later operating system. In this case, the steps are as follows:
- From the Apple () menu we choose System Preferences.
- We enter Apple ID.
- In the sidebar we touch on Password and security.
- If we are asked to enter the Apple ID password, we touch “Forgot your Apple ID or password?” And we follow the instructions. Otherwise, we touch directly on Change passwordand, after entering the password of our Mac, we follow the steps to reset the password.
How to recover the password with someone else’s device
If we don’t have one of our devices handy, we can use someone else’s to perform the recovery. To do this, simply download the Apple Support app from the App Store and follow these steps:
- We open the Apple Supportapp .
- We touch on Passwords and security.
- We enter Reset Apple ID password.
- We touch Start.
- We choose A different Apple ID.
- We write the Apple ID.
- Click Nextand follow the steps until we are confirmed that we have changed the password.
Alternatively, we can use the Find My app as long as the iPhone it’s running on is running iOS 9 or later. From there, once the app is open, we make sure that the Apple ID field is empty and the session is closed. Then click on “Forgot your Apple ID or password?” and follow the steps.
If none of this works, we can go to iforgot.apple.com , enter the Apple ID and select one of the options to reset the password. We can either answer the security questions, receive an email, or enter the recovery key if we have one. We then follow the steps on the screen to complete the process .
So we can delete an Apple ID forever
Our last option is to contact Apple directly and state that we are willing to recover the Apple ID password. From Apple Care they must be able to help us both with the process and to complete the security checks and recover the account. Once we have achieved it, remember to write down the new password well and keep it safe.
