We all make mistakes and deleting emails by mistake is more common than it seems. In fact, many times we delete them without even having opened them. If we use Gmail there is no problem, since undoing this deletion is very simple . And not only because the option appears as soon as you delete it, but also because afterwards.
By default, these will be stored in the trash and we will have up to 30 days to recover them and move them to the inbox or any other folder. However , there is a possibility of recovering them if more than a month has passed . Although, we already advanced you, you will not always have that luck.
Recover emails from Gmail trash
As you may already know and as we told you at the beginning, when we delete an email it is not permanently deleted, but goes to the trash . There they are stored temporarily until, after 30 days, they are permanently deleted.
The process to rescue them from the trash could not be easier. You just have to open the drop-down menu on the left (the icon with three lines), click on Trash and there you will find all those emails that you deleted less than a month ago. To recover them, all you have to do is hold them down and then tap on the three-point icon (upper right corner), click Move to and then choose which folder you want to send them to.
How to clean Gmail before it gets dirty: so you can create filters for spam emails
It should be said that you can select several at the same time if you click on the photograph of each sender. In the same way, there is the possibility of using the search engine to locate them more quickly . In this you can put the name or address of the sender, the subject of the message or words that were in its content.
It may still survive in the sent folder
If the email you deleted and are now looking for had been answered, you’re in luck. And it is that even those that were deleted more than a month ago appear in this folder (if they meet that condition of having been answered, of course).
Therefore, you should also open the drop-down menu to access the Sent folder this time and try to locate it there. Although you may not be able to send it to the inbox or archived folder, you will be able to see the thread of the entire conversation , which for practical purposes will come in handy because you will not have lost that content.
Other ways to recover deleted emails
We start this last section warning that third-party tools usually do not work . And this is said by a server from their own experience, since these are stored on Google’s servers and do not give access to third parties once they have been removed from the trash.
Google does offer a tool for “extreme” situations . And it is that they have enabled a website that serves as a message recovery tool in those cases in which a third party has accessed the account without consent and has deleted messages. Without this pretext, the tool will not recover our deleted messages.
Another option would be to have a backup on a computer using a mail client. However, if you always use the Gmail app or access it via the web on the desktop, you will not have this option. As we said at the beginning, recovering those emails deleted more than a month ago is not always easy.
