How to put only some Word pages horizontally?

You can customize a document in Microsoft Word with the page horizontally, it is a basic function, but it is often complicated by having some pages horizontally in the same document. Next, we explain how you can do it, both for the entire document and for some pages.

From the ‘Format’ tab

The default setting for Word is portrait with a size of approximately 8.5 by 11 inches, which is about the size of a letterhead. You can change this configuration in a simple way, you just have to go to the ‘Format’ tab, located in the menu, at the top.

In the tab, the Orientation option will appear , which will appear when you click on the ‘Format’ tab . While there you will be able to change the orientation to Landscape , and the settings will be applied automatically.

make two settings

In the event that you want to change the orientation of one or some pages , you will have to make two adjustments, first selecting the text of the page you want to change, and then you will have to repeat the initial procedure:

  1. Go to the ‘Format’ tab, click on it.
  2. Select the orientation option, previously you must have selected all the text of the page that you want to change.
  3. Select the button that appears next to the ‘Configure page’ option.

configuration window will open , where you must click on the ‘Horizontal’ orientation option, a preview of the way in which the document will be displayed in landscape format will appear.

Once you have selected the ‘Apply to’ option , it will display two options: apply to the entire document or apply to the selected text. Click on the option and accept the changes so that they are made in the document.

It is important that before starting the page configuration you have the text of the pages you want to change selected, otherwise you will not see the option ‘Apply to selected text’.

Microsoft Word allows you to customize the size of the page , in case you want to do it when changing the orientation of the page, best of all, you can do this configuration in conjunction with the change of orientation, choosing the size that you want. It is also important that you set the margins .

If after having made all the configurations, and having followed step by step, everything previously explained and you cannot see any change , we recommend you reduce the Zoom of your Word document, or change the view mode to ‘Print layout’ with a Zoom no greater than 80%.

The print design can be located at the bottom right of the Word document, it is next to the ‘Zoom’ bar of the document.

What should you do to put your entire Word document horizontally?

To configure your Word document in the same orientation, you must select the ‘Format’ option from the main menu, followed by the ‘Orientation’ option, and finally select the horizontal orientation. Said configuration will be applied to all the pages of the document .

Create the new document from ‘File’

If, on the other hand, you want to create a new document with a default format and without having to leave the current Word document, you should go to the ‘File’ section located in the menu, a list of options will be displayed, including the option to ‘New’.

When selecting the ‘New’ option, Word will automatically open a new document. Another simple and faster way with which you can obtain the same result is by using the Ctrl + U keys shortcut , by pressing both keys at the same time It will open a new document. Finally, remove the blank pages that you have inside the document that you are not going to use.
